I have two rules no dates and no spending the night.I don’t have time to manage all the complications that come with relationships. And I sure as hell have no desire for any kind of commitment. My life is fairly uncomplicated, exactly the way I want it…until complicated literally stumbles my way. Britain Lancaster. Clumsy, plain, inexperienced, and the type of woman I tend to avoid.… avoid.
Unfortunately for me the universe seems to put her on my path around every corner, forcing me to notice her. To look at her. To really…see her.
Pretty soon the universe no longer has to go through all the trouble sending her my way since I find myself looking for her, wanting to get to know her. And the more time I spend with her the more I realize that she’s everything I’m not.
Pure, beautiful, innocent…corruptible.
Now I can’t get her out of my head. I want her in ways that could ruin her, taint her, break her, and I can only hope she’s strong enough to survive this.
To survive me.

I’m a huge of fan of the author, Evan Grace’s work and this story was no exception! She did an amazing job with Britain and Silas’s story, From the very beginning, their story captured my attention and as the story progressed, it just sucked me in with their amazingly hot, sexy and intense chemistry, but I was also intrigued with the stories behind each character.
Britain, our girl, is a tomboy but is also the most naive, innocent, genuine, caring and strong young woman, who you will discover when you read this story, didn’t have a pretty young start in her childhood because of how her mother was… She’s strong but at the same time vulnerable and with Silas, she can be both and he will always take care of her even if he can whiplash with how he expresses himself sometimes and that’s how also because he didn’t have a stellar childhood either.
Silas is a dominant man in every BDSM kind of way and at first he was hesitant to go forward with Britain but the pull was too strong between them and he couldn’t resist and we’re all glad he didn’t resist for long because they were amazing together. There’s some push-pull vibe but it doesn’t last very long.
Of course, in a good story, there’s always obstacles that need to be fought, some misunderstandings/miscommunications, but those are resolved quickly and these two people who are clearly destined to be together, have their emotional and beautiful happily ever after <3 <3
This book did not go in the direction I thought from reading the blurb and that was a pleasant surprise! When Silas was initially a jerk to Britain, I was like imma kick his arse!! I loved her sass but also her vulnerability.
Britain experienced something traumatic when she was younger and that has made her cautious around new people. Her first reaction to Silas is that she wants to punch him in the junk! But there’s no denying the chemistry between them And she seems to grow in self confidence with him.
I won’t say too much more because I don’t want to inadvertently give a spoiler. You just need to read it if you haven’t already.
This is the first book in a new series and it is a great start. We are introduced to Britain and Silas who appear to be total opposites and not in the same league. Britain is a 24 year old virgin who had suffer something very traumatic when she was about 6 years old. The event made Britain very insecure and leery of men except for her father and brothers. And her family is also very protective of her and would do anything for her.
Silas is a software developer who has made millions off his software. He has trust issues and doesn’t want a relationship, just one night stands. This works for him until he meets Britain. The first couple of times that they ran into each other, Silas does not make the best impression and insults Britain. It wasn’t until he had a flat tire and call for a tow truck that he really notices Britain when she was the tow truck driver to come get his car. Once Silas notices Britain, he pursues her until she gives in and goes out with him. She points him on notice that she’s not ready for anything physical. Silas however wants her so bad and thinks she would make a good submissive!
As the two get to know each other, they can’t deny their attraction to each other. Britain tells Silas what happen to her when she was a child and why she has never gotten involve with men. Silas can’t figure out why he is breaking his own rules about no strings but he feels that Britain is special.
We get to see how Britain and Silas changes throughout their relationship but the past could get in the way of their potential future.
I really enjoy reading this book and got invested in both characters and their family. It shows that each of us can overcome our tragic past and change to become who we should be and give love a chance.
This book was fantastic!! The characters were real and the events in their pasts could have happened to anyone. I loved following their journey and also seeing a secondary romance develop along the way.
Britain was a total tomboy. She worked on cars, loved sports and did as little as possible when it came time to “dress up.” Her family may have been a little overprotective, but their hearts were in the right place.
You must give Silas a chance. I quickly went from thinking he was a total jerk to thinking he was total sweetheart. He was so patient with Britain and respected her family even when they jumped to conclusions. He will grow on you and make it impossible to not love him.
I am a fan of Evan Grace and was looking forward to reading this story.
Tales of A Tomboy: Britain is a multi-layered story that involves new life adventures, family love, and healing. The secondary characters played an integral part of the story.
There were times when I questioned what was going on in a few of the characters minds, times when I wanted to yell at them and hit them over the head with my Kindle..hehe In the end, I was glad it played out the way that it did.
This is an author and story I recommend.
Silas has never been a boys name that I’d appreciated until now.
And he is everything that Britain’s overprotective family want for her until they find out more about him.
This is probably one of Ms Grace’s least complicated stories, but no less enjoyable for it either. If it wasn’t for the extremely heated chemistry between Silas and Britain, once he’d stopped being a complete ar$ehole to her, I’d almost call it one of her more sweeter story lines. Spicy hot ‘n sweet is the flavour of the day!
Britain’s family is complicated and loving. She’s had one difficult start to life, and, her father, adoptive mother and stepbrothers are extra vigilant in looking out for her, almost to the point of smothering. But, I loved the relationship that Britain had with her adoptive mother, and it’s exactly as I believe a mother’s relationship should be with her daughter, which is in Britain’s words, “a mother who protects you and loves you.”
So, at 24, she is sweet, innocent, and potentially corruptible to a man who is totally shocked by his own rigid(!) reaction to her, and initially acts like a complete moron towards her, much to his own disgust. Silas has his own issues that govern the set of rules that he lives by, yet these are slowly eroded by the feisty creature who drives a car that I would kill to lay my own hands on.
My favourite dual POV is in play here, and although the book can almost read like a diary at times, I completely loved the story, the family banter, vulnerability of characters, and the loyalty of friends. There is also the requisite fly-in-the-ointment ex-shag who deserves a beat-down, much to my entertainment, and, I also had to giggle when Britain shares her admiration for an author’s books whom I also happen to love very much. 4.5 stars, and I have to say that I also read the taster for the next Tomboy whose tales we shall be reading, and I can’t wait for Stormy’s story!
Tales of a Tomboy: Britain by Evan Grace
5++ Stars
I f***f*** LOVED LOVED LOVED!! Evan Grace surely didn’t disappoint!
Britain and Silas~ so many feels
Britain is a tomboy. She is not looking for a boyfriend.
Silas has no plans to settle down.
“For giving me everything I didn’t know I wanted.”
“You take my breath away.”
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Absolutely amazing!
I received a copy of this book for a honest review.
I enjoyed this book. Britain was a pleasant surprise. I have to say I was not sure how I felt about Silas at first.
Britain is a girl who loves working on cars, is more comfortable in a pair of overhauls, doesn’t ware make up and doesn’t take hour to get out the door in the mornings. She has a family that loves her and brothers who will protect her no matter what. Silas well let me tell you after the first two encounters Britain had with Silas I just knew I would not like him. But oh my goodness Silas has a way of slipping into my heart and before I knew it he had me hooked.
After hearing Britain back story my heart wen tout to her but the way Silas treated her was amazing. The way these two interact and complement each other was heartwarming. I loved the way Silas went about introducing Britain into BDSM.
Absolutely loved the family dynamic Britain has with her mom, dad and brothers. She loves her family and nieces with all she has. Then to see Silas interactions with the girls melted my heart.
This was the first book of Evan Grace that I have read and I have to say I did enjoy it. I was not expecting the BDSM but it was written well and not over the top. I also enjoyed most of the side characters as much as I did Britain and Silas.
Tales of a Tomboy: Britain by Evan Grace.
This book was definitely a 5 star read for me, just like all of the previous books I have read by Evan Grace.
Britain does not trust many people, especially when it comes to men. Something traumatic happened to her and it still has ahold of her. When she runs into Silas at the local coffee shop, she is shocked, to say the least, that she is drawn to him. Except he is a total jerk.
Silas has rules when it comes to relationships: keep them casual, no spending the night and definitely no dates. When he runs into Britain, she it the total opposite of what he usually goes for. He knows he wants more of her but will she fit into his lifestyle?
This book had me wanting more with every single page!! I absolutely fell in love with the chemistry between Silas and Britain. I can not wait for more books from this series.
Evan Grace hit a home run on this book. A great page turner , family oriented with family values but so hot and sexy. Britain had childhood issues to overcome but she found a sexy alfa man, Silas to help her through her fears. Britain was already a strong woman and this just made her stronger. I felt Britain’s emotions and turmoil!
What an amazing story this was. A a great storyline that was well thought out and executed to perfection. Characters that were perfectly created in order to make this story addictive and captivating.
The subject is not one I seek out to read generally but Evan mastered it very well and made it believable. It was not exaggerated, it was just enough. You need to read it in order to know what I’m talking about.
They had strong chemistry. They connected well. I liked the side characters that complimented an already great story.
Standalone told in multiple POV’s with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
Wow I am completely awe struck! I fell in love with these characters within the 1st couple of chapters. Britain is sweet, broken & strong. I loved everything about her. I was saddened by what happened to her, but as u read u realize her character is so strong, even more that she realizes. Silas is a jerk, seems like a player, but he is definitely one not to be judged by his 1st impression. He is sexy, sweet & very hot alpha caveman! I love a confident sexy caveman!! This author has done a fantastic job writing these characters. U can feel their chemistry, even in the beginning & their snappy banter throughout makes the book even better. I fell so in love with them, everyone actually. Her brothers, dad, mom & sister-in-law were so much of her story. The closeness of Britain & her family made this story even more intense. Another amazing must read story!!
Told in dual POV.
There are some tough issues dealt with in this book, but it was done so well. Britain went through something traumatic as a child and has affected her into her adult years. But she is still so much stronger than she thinks. Silas was pretty much a jerk to her the first few times they had bumped into each other, but he ends up being wonderful! I loved how Silas was with Britain, even before knowing what had happened to her. He was gentle and so patient with her. There were some aspects to this book I am not a real fan of but it was written beautifully.
This book was such a pleasure to read! Britain is not the typical Barbie heroine that we get too often. She is a tomboy through and through. Silas, at first, was tough to get a handle on. The journey these two took was the best part. Don’t get me wrong. I love a happy ending just like the rest of us. The patience, understanding, and caring between the two was a nice story line. Loved the secondary characters almost as much!
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Excellent job
Oh, Britain. She’s a girl after my own heart with the love of cars and sports (and the whole clumsy thing, I must admit). She’s been through hell and survived, but hasn’t really LIVED yet. Then she meets Silas. Silas is a jerk at first because he doesn’t know how to feel about his reaction when he first lays eyes on Britain, but he decides quickly enough to give knowing her a shot when he finds that he can’t get her out of his mind.
For a man who doesn’t do relationships, Silas somehow knows exactly how to be with Britain, which I absolutely adore. He introduces Britain to every aspect of his life and what makes him HIM, and Britain learns who she really is and what she wants as a result. These two stumble a few times, but pick each other and themselves up, don’t give up on what they have, venture into the “I’m never going to do that” realm when they find that they DO want it all with each other, and find their way to a beautiful HEA.
I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would.
I’m a huge fan of Evan Grace but once I got a bit into this I wasn’t sure I’d really like it. She did a tasteful job of writing it tho and overall I really liked it.
I would definitely recommend it as a read!
A wonderful contemporary Romance book, though the book does advises of some hard issues, I enjoyed reading this book. This book is about Britain, she is an amazing character and was able to overcome traumatic issues. Silas is strong character, who falls for Britain, he is a great character who is there to support her and be there for her. Though Britain has a pretty strong and loyal family, who always has her back. There is a lot of love in this book, but it’s all about Britain and Silas .
Just to warn you – when you first meet Silas you’re not going to like him but give him a chance. I really think dual POV’s helped this story tremendously. Seeing both sides of the coin helps so much in understanding them both. Britain proves you don’t have to change yourself to be loved, you just need to be open for the opportunity. Silas is taught that what you want isn’t always what you need. I freaking loved the epilogue! I really enjoyed this story and both of these characters. It’s great to see characters grow and bloom before your eyes. Evan Grace’s writing style just works for me and this is a wonderful addition to her catalog.
I have two rules. 1. Always make time for Evan’s books. 2. When you don’t have time, you better make time. What an absolutely yummy book. I could not put it down. I felt so bad for my family. Another amazing book by an amazing author.
Britain and the description of her leaves you in awe that someone so beautiful could be so damaged. Britain is happy living in her brothers basement, taking care of her nieces and working in her dads auto shop a few days a week. When she meets a gorgeous man at the coffee shop and then trips in front of him she can’t believe he didn’t even help her, then she sees him again he gives her the cold shoulder. Silas a computer program developer and forever bachelor is speechless both times he meets Britain but when he is forced to deal with her, he isn’t quite sure how to take her. I just loved Britain’s attitude and even though she had a wall around her ten feet high, she was willing to listen. This story endears you to the characters right away and so entertaining that I sat and read it all at once.
