I’ve never been afraid of the dark…but that doesn’t mean I wanted to live in it. And maybe everyone wants what they can’t have, but I should’ve thought it over before I accepted the key and unlocked the door to their forbidden world.Number One is mostly silent. He watches me with them very carefully. His gaze never wanders. His interest never wanes.Number Two is mostly gentle. But it’s the … gentle. But it’s the other side of him I like best. The wild side.
Number Three is mostly reserved. He refuses to cross the line. Even when I beg.
It was carnal, it was sensual, and it was erotic. That’s it. That’s all it was supposed to be. A trip into the dark. A peek into the forbidden.
I just didn’t expect to like them.

I heard the door open and close and said nothing. And the footsteps coming down the hallway towards the bedroom. I even heard him say, “Hey.” So softly. “You awake?” Like he didn’t want to wake me.
I listened as he stepped into the closet. There was that slick sound a man makes when he pulls his tie through his shirt collar. I heard the unclasping of his watch. The jingle of his belt buckle and the shuffle of his pants as they dropped to the floor.
I even heard his moan as he stood over me. I could feel his shadow from the streetlamp outside like it was heat.
Then the bed creaked, the mattress sank. And his warm, hard body straddled me.
Still, I said nothing.
I just buried my face in the sweet scent of the pillow and closed my eyes, feigning sleep.
“Rochelle,” he whispered, leaning over me. His fingertips gently brushed the hair away from my shoulder. His mouth pressed against my skin. “Did you miss me? God, I’ve missed you. Two weeks is too long. We need to renegotiate.”
He nipped my neck. Kissed it. Licked my ear as he positioned himself to begin.
And I said… nothing.
Even though my name is not Rochelle.
That’s why I’m here. Tied up and gagged inside the closet. Sitting in the dark as three men on the other side of the door argue about where Rochelle went, why I was in her bed, and what they should do next.
I should be scared but I’m not.
I should be screaming, but I won’t.
Because this just feels very, very right.
And the only thing on my mind is… what will happen next?

One of the sexiest books EVER!
I don’t think I have ever read a book that made me so wet & hot. I have read menage stories before but they weren’t this hot. This book had the sex scenes that were intense and the mystery exciting.
When I read blurb I knew I was in for a ride. J.A. Huss delivered one of the best series ever, although this has been the first series that I have read from her, and wasn’t disappointed at all. Definitely worth read it and more than 5**********
My first J A Huss book! I was hooked
OMG! This compelling and mesmerizing story is so much more than just your average and cliched ménage, even if it ultimately has 4 participants. It kept me totally engrossed with each new revelation of the complex relationship between Smith, Bric and Quinn and the slow revelation of each of the “game” rules is absolutely ingenious. Throughout the book Chella’s motivations for taking part in the game are murky but the climax of the book and the stunning revelation about her mysterious past is when the sh*t really hits the fan. I’m so blown away by this author’s intricate and well paced storytelling that I’ve already purchased the next book in this series. Warning; the story includes a delicious and unexpected cliffhanger.
The turning series was hot as hell, page turner all the way
You know you’re going to be in for one hell of a ride when the evil genius that is Julie Huss turns her fabulous writing skills towards the dark and dirty side!!
Book 1 in her new Turning series and phew – be warned now dark and dirty it certainly is and I absolutely loved it!!
This is told from 4 POV’s – Cella, Quin, Smith and Bric. Brilliantly done, how we get to see each individual and their dark and dirty thoughts and perspectives, all put together to create one erotic masterpiece of a read!! Some very dirty sexy scenes throughout – the one scene in the book with Cella, Smith and Bric together had me wishing I was Cella during that one I can tell you – quick change of pants required!!
Quin, Smith and Bric had been in a ‘relationship’ with Rochelle for 3 years, when without warning she ups and vanishes, but leaves Marcella as her replacement. Can Cella become her replacement when she learns there are rules to their ‘relationship’.
As usual with JA Huss, nothing is as it would seem. Taking Turns is all about pleasure and rules and playing the game! But there is more to it than that. Dark secrets abound, learning about your self and your desires, taking a peek into the darkness and the unknown!
A great set of characters, so totally different to each other, but brilliantly put together make for a hell of a ride. Hot and steamy throughout, but at the same time, unravelling their stories and secrets, not all as it would first seem.
This will keep you guessing right up until very end with its twists and turns. I can’t wait for book 2 to learn more about these characters. Another fabulous read from JA Huss – come on over to the dark side!!
So much more to Chella’s character then meets the eye. Bric was my least favorite of the 3 . I had mixed feelings about Smith at first, but hoped they would get together . Quin win me over by how he was such a good friend to Chella as he was more gentle natured than Bric or Smith .I am very curious about Rochelle and if we find out her where abouts in the next book.
Steamy hot and sexy, Ava Erickson, Sebastian York, Tad Branson, Joe Arden
This book made me uncomfortable in the very best way. There is nothing wrong with a sex arrangement among consenting adults, but you always have to be ready to question the power dynamics when three powerful men are sharing the same (presumably disenfranchised) woman. In this book, we find out early on that Smith, Bric, and Quin have been in a series of plural relationships with one woman at a time over the course of many years. These are women they keep–women they own. I was prepared to witness a relationship that was imbalanced, one that favored the whims of these men and catered to their motivations. I was prepared to be shown a woman who consented but who was disempowered or marginalized in some way.
Huss served up something different, and infinitely better. Chella is a wealthy heiress who is not attracted to these men’s prestige. She doesn’t need their money. She has her job and her own life. Yet, she truly chooses this relationship, not because she is settling for kinky sex to get her closer to some other payoff these powerful men can provide, but because the kinky sex is the part she really needs.
This realization about her does not come easily and the towering strength of the book comes from watching the motivations of each player unfold. The discomfort (and utter satisfaction) comes from the reader slowly deciding whether she approves of those involved. On one hand, relationships like these only work under circumstances of transparency, but each character is deliciously flawed. Despite each of their dedication to come to the relationship honestly, each one has his own shit to work through, and something to hide.
There is nothing one-dimensional about these characters and part of the joy in reading this is seeing what could have been shallow characterizations turned on their heads. Smith is the least likable character from the start, but as we delve deeper into who he is, a truly unique story emerges. Bric initially seems to be the most reliable, but we learn that he harbors a much darker side.
The result is masterful. These four characters are, without a doubt, using one another in ways that would be easy to disapprove of. At certain moments, you WILL disapprove of all of them, but it reconciles in a way that calls compassion, despite a backdrop of searing hot sex. At the same time as these characters are flawed, they are smart, responsible, good people who try to do the right thing. This book oozes complexity and skillfully captures the duality of people and the ambiguity of life itself. It also has jaw-dropping moments that will make you want to fangirl all over the author.
Quite entertaining
The story starts off and you know something is different. Just the description of the events tells you that. Then as the story unfolds you learn more about all the characters and the truth behind the deception. It’s so good and different than other stories like this that I have read. I like how it ends too.
too weird. I can’t imagine guys agreeing to this situation
This was my first JA HUSS book and now I am completely hooked. TBH there were several times up to the 30% mark where I found myself wondering WTF was I reading??!! But Ms. Huss quickly took my preconceived notions (even those of who I thought she’d fall for) and threw them out the window. As this story slowly unfolded, I couldn’t put it down. Yes, it’s a story about 3 friends playing with their toy. Yes, it’s dirty. Yes, there are characters dealing with an array of difficulties. But at its core it’s a love story. TAKING TURNS was so much more than what I expected and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series.
I literally could not put this book down! I absolutely loved the intrigue and mysteriousness with each character. The developing story line just keeps pulling you deeper. Heartbreak, speeding pulses, the ah-ha moments and the hook at the end prepping you for the second installment… this book had it all and then some!! All I can say is ‘Is it April yet??!!!’
Wasn’t the best, but it was okay…
Loved this one and book 2 as well
You never knows what lies behind each character. Good bad twister sad
I loved this series! It sucked me in and kept me enthralled! 5 stars all the way!
Loved the characters, couldn’t put the book down.
Couldn’t put the book down. Have read 2 of the series and getting ready to read the 3rd.
