Tess and Adam’s story in Taking On the Billionaire by Robin Covington, book one in her Redhawk Reunion series, was amazing, emotional, and sizzling hot. Investigator Tess Lynch had just wrapped up finding the brother and sister of Adam Redhawk as the three had been separated, as children, by social services when he asked for her help on another matter. Adam, a self-made tech billionaire, needed to find a mole within his company who could ruin the release of a new app. As the two work long hours into the night, the attraction between them is off the charts and their electricity could power their office building. As Tess and Adam succumb to their passion they find themselves falling for each other; something neither expected to ever happen. Tess has her own secrets dealing with how Adam’s adoptive father ruined her father. When an unexpected consequence occurs at the same time Tess’s secret is revealed, Adam needs to determine his priorities and how to make them happen.
Ms. Covington wrote an erotic, emotional and moving story filled with sizzling chemistry, determination, and endearing characters that is not to be missed. I highly recommend Taking On the Billionaire to other readers.

Emotion is the name of the game and Covington holds all the cards. Taking on the Billionaire is a tale of love that is as soulful as it is heartbreaking. Tess and Adam turn romance on it’s head and wreak havoc on the heart. An unpredictable mass of regret, heartache, secrets, lies and hope works it’s magic. The drama is endless but so are the feelings it stirs deep inside.
I haven’t read a Desire in awhile. Fast paced afternoon quick read. It really did keep me interested and had a few surprises on the way with Tess and Adam. Adam learns of the other siblings in the beginning from Tess being a P.I. and he needs her for another job (in which there’s underlying reasons as to why she accepts). So corporate espionage is a newer topic on my reading list. I just felt things were too quick to be resolved. Adam’s Sister Sarina and Adam’s business partner Justin, by the end will all be interested to find out what is up with them in the next book in the series.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I really enjoyed this emotional and steamy romance. It is a roller coaster ride with witty banter, push/pull emotions, and steamy passion which is everything I crave to read. Adam Redhawk was torn from his family and roots as a young boy. Now he is co-founder and CEO of a successful tech business with his partner and best friend Justin Ling. But he misses his siblings and hires Private Investigator, Tess Lynch, to find them. Tess easily finds them so he hires her again to solve a mystery within his own company. It could also maybe have a little something to do with how much he was attracted to this smart, and sexy woman. Tess has her own reasons for working with Adam, and the more she works with him, the more she falls for him as well. But her reasons and secrets could put his business at risk, tearing them apart before they even begin! I loved Adam and Tess together. They were both self-made, independent, but also completely in sync with each other, and their chemistry was off the charts. I loved how this is about interracial characters, without making it a big deal, making it feel more real and honest. All the friends and family were intriguing and fun and I can’t wait to read more about them as well. What a great start to Redhawk Reunion series and I can’t wait for Justin and Sarina’s story next!

Taking on the Billionaire is a story about two people who are made for each other in every way. But one secret can destroy everything they could be.
Tess owns her own business finding things, she has found Adam’s siblings and now he wants her to help find one more person.
Adam is CEO of a company he owns with his best friend Justin and they have someone trying to steal secrets from them. He thinks that Tess can help find who that person is since she found his siblings. But he also likes to have her around and he wants to explore more with her on a personal level.
Will Tess accept his terms for a short relationship? What will happen when Adam learns her secret? Will they find out who is trying to destroy the company?
I really enjoyed this story, Tess and Adam are a perfect couple and they work well together. The suspense of the story makes it better. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I have.
**Copy of this story provided by this author and this is my honest review**
Tess is a PI working for a CEO of a tech company, Redhawk/Ling. She finishes one job, and she’s readily hired to do another job for Adam, the CEO. This next job overlaps with why she wants to keep close to Adam. She’s keeping secrets. They also come to a friends with benefits arrangement, but it could go further if they both let it happen. “Body and soul. But not her heart. She wouldn’t go that far.” He thinks of her as “a queen with the stars making up your crown.” Throw in family members that have their own agendas or don’t want anything to do with each other, plus a saboteur and you’ve got a definite page turner.

This is the 1st book I read by Robin Covington. The only thing I liked about this story are the hot & steamy scenes. I’m sorry I tried to get into the story I couldn’t.
I almost never read billionaire romance, so I was really curious how a Cherokee billionaire would tickle my fancy. Well, let me tell ya, Adam Redhawk can tickle my anything! What a hot male lead. Yes, he’s a billionaire, but he’s also a genuinely good person. I love romance featuring good people, so I was won over immediately.
Adam is Eastern Band Cherokee and was taken from his home and community when he was 6 and adopted by a white family. This is in clear violation of the Indian Child Welfare Act (something the author mentions), but it still happens.
Adam hires Tess, a sexy redhead PI to find his long lost siblings for a Redhawk reunion. And he likes having her around so much that when that job is over, he hires her to help him find a traitor in his company who is selling their trade secrets. What starts as a working relationship with a lot of sexual tension turns into casual sex which, of course, evolves into more. But Tess has a secret that could tear them apart.
I enjoyed the romance and the characters a lot. I loved the occasional references to Adam’s Cherokee heritage, and his semi-joking paranoia that someone might call the cops on him for his brown skin.
I’m really glad I stumbled across Robin Covington, and look forward to reading more of her work.
4.5 Stars I LOVED this. A lot. Now, billionaire romances are quite often hit or miss for me, but this was for sure a hit. I think the added suspense elements, not to mention the family drama on all sides, plus the dynamic between straight laced businessman Adam Redhawk and the PI he hired to find out who is screwing with his company, the curvy, sassy Tess. Tess has secrets of her own and I LOVED how they brought up the horrible child welfare policies that separated indigenous families and how hard both worked at bringing Adam’s family together. I’m really invested in this series now and will be buying a copy of book 2 tomorrow.
The chemistry between Tess and Adam is off-the-charts hot! I loved every word of their story–the mystery, the banter, the heat, and the vulnerability beneath both characters. The conflict had me flipping pages and the HEA had me happy-sighing and wishing for more. Lucky for me, Sarina and Justin are next. Sign me up!

This book sucked me right in and I gobbled it right up. I flew through the pages. The characters had me hooked. I loved Tess and Adam. Tess is hell bent on revenge to the man who destroyed everything. She never counted on Adam to be the guy he is. Adam is loyal and has integrity something his adoptive father lacks. It was tough for me to watch Adam struggle to find a connection to his siblings. I wanted it to to go well for him. Adam is the kind of guy you want in your corner. He is definitely great book boyfriend material. Then Tess has been putting everything before herself and working on one goal her whole life. Now it’s within her reach, but feelings get involved. Tess and Adam have a ton of chemistry, but they are also so adorable together. I was rooting for them the whole way. I would highly recommend this one. You’re going want to gobble it up, but sad to see it end.
This is the perfect afternoon binge read. The hero is one of my favorites of this year (yay for representation!), but the story just didn’t quite jump off the page like some of the other Desire’s I’ve read recently. Covington’s characters are solid, and I want to know what happens with the family dynamics, so I will be continuing with the series.
This is a book that I could not put down! Tess and Adam’s chemistry is sizzling of the pages. So much emotion and heartbreak but will leave you wanting more at the end. Tess and Adam can”t deny the chemistry that they share, so they agree for friends with benefits until their hearts get involved. Along with a surprise and secrets will their hearts break? Loved the back stories too! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
I’ll admit, I was more intrigued by the cover of this book then the actual story. Harlequin has been hitting it out of the park with their Desire covers. I liked the premise of a Native American hero and a tech billionaire at that. And the chemistry between Adam and Tess was definitely steamy, particularly when they couldn’t give in to that desire. I did find the beginning of the story a bit slow and personally thought it picked up midway or so when one of my favorite tropes was introduced. Overall, not a bad story and I’m still very much in love with the cover.
*Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Taking on the Billionaire was a fast-paced, steamy read with a bit of intrigue, a hint of betrayal, and whole lot of heart – despite both characters not looking for anything more than a short-term affair and certainly not anything that had their hearts involved!
Adam and Tess were one of those couples who had sparks flying every time they were in any sort of proximity to each other. Once they cross the line and act on that chemistry there were plenty of steamy times, but there were also so many other times where you could feel the connection between these two. I loved how Adam took care of Tess when she became sick, and it was also sweet how Tess was always offering such a great perspective on his new relationship with his two siblings he has just found (the job that he initially hired Tess for). I did think Adam’s reaction when some truths come out was a bit harsher than I expected, but I loved how things ended up and were resolved, so just like Tess, it was easy to quickly forgive and move on!
I am totally intrigued by the series arc – books that will feature Adam’s two siblings. I can’t wait to learn more about both of them. Knowing that the next book Sarina, Adam’s sister, and his business partner, Justin, are featured has me looking forward to that February release!
Robin Covington has delivered on all fronts with her first Harlequin Desire romance. I did feel that this book had a bit of an edgier tone to it than some other books in this imprint I have read, but it totally worked for the story and the characters. Well done – a definite must for anyone looking for a quick, steamy read that checks off all the boxes of a Harlequin Desire!

Robin Covington provided a great escape in her latest book, Taking on the Billionaire. I just love watching a couple navigate a “no strings/easy out” relationship…all of the tension and angst is delicious! In TonB, Adam and Tess are working together to uncover the mole in his tech company. This works to Adam’s advantage, as he’s not yet ready to part ways with the woman that has intrigued him. Tess is in it to settle an old family vendetta. At heart, these two people are fixers and caretakers. While dealing with everything that unravels in this book, from lost and then found family to corporate espionage, the couple begins to let down their guard and rely on each other. Those moments of intimacy and unwavering support had this reader absolutely invested in the relationship. I loved that the characters were flawed, but understanding of the reasons for their ways. The pacing of this story was perfect, and Adam’s way of making things right so that the couple could have a future had me tearing up. So well done! I’m looking forward to learning more about Adam’s siblings as the series progresses, and can’t wait to see what Adam & Tess have been up to in the meantime.
This was a great read and I couldn’t put it down. It has been too long for a new read by robin covington and this was a perfect read with possibilities for more. Adam and Tess story is wonderful. Getting to meet Roan, Sarina Mia and Justin the characters are great. The story just draws you in. I want more with this group. I can’t wait for the next in this series and hopefully get to see more from Adam and Tess and the reveal for the end of the book.
Taking on the Billionaire served as my introduction to RCovington and I’m thrilled to have met her as well as her MCs, Adam & Tess. RCovington delivered a compelling story with well-drawn characters that kept me engaged the their story. I’m eager for more and anxious over the few questions she left me with in the end. 😉
Highlights
*Characters
Both Adam and Tess suffered traumatic experiences at young ages. Adam was wrongly removed from his family home, taken from his siblings and his Cherokee heritage. He ended up adopted by a wealthy family who clearly cared more for their image than their new son. Tess was abandoned by her mother and lost her father not much later. She was left to raise her younger sister and work for revenge against the man she saw as responsible for her father’s death…. Adam’s adoptive father. Both Adam and Tess are independent and stubborn, both qualities that have served them well. These traits only served to heighten the sizzle between them. I admired them both for having convictions and fighting for what they wanted in life. It was a boon for them to discover they had some similar life goals…ones they hadn’t realized they had.
*Romance
The chemistry between Adam and Tess was combustive. They’d been fighting against it while Tess, an investigator, worked at finding his siblings. But when another job presented itself, Adam was quick to offer it to Tess along with a fling with an expiration date. But sex this smoking hot doesn’t come without emotion and they were left trying to decide whether they should give it a go or give up their sizzle.
*Plot
While some elements were predictable, RCovington still wove quite a story. I liked seeing Adam and Tess work together to find the saboteur in his company. I admired Adam for working so hard to bring his family back together. And I equally admired Tess when she gave up something important to her out of love for Adam. They both showed emotional growth that made me so happy.
RCovington ended things with a teaser about Adam’s business partner, Justin, and his sister, Sarina. I’m more than a little intrigued and look forward to continuing the series.
Another great read by this author! Secrets everyone has them but what happens when you fall for the one you’re keeping a big one from? This story has so much going on and the author keeps the reader on their toes trying to figure out what will happen. Be prepared for corporate espionage, to finding long lost siblings, to a romance that has you smiling plus a best friend who makes you laugh. Be prepared to say well worth the wait of a new book from this author. Can’t wait for the next book!
Tess Lynch is an investigator Adam Redhawk hired to find his siblings after being separated from them as young children. While Adam was adopted by a wealthy family, his siblings, twins Roan and Sarina didn’t fare as well.
Now that Tess has located Adams siblings, it’s up to Adam to initiate the reunion. But while steeling himself for the courage to reach out, Adam has another job for Tess, finding a mole within the company he co-founded with his best friend Justin Ling. As Redhawk/Ling is on the brink of a new app launch, they must first find and remove the mole.
Tess is hired and on the job as it fills her personal vendetta to get to Adam’s adoptive father, Franklin Templeton.
There is a lot of mystery and intrigue, and plenty of sexual chemistry as well between Adam and Tess. Adam and Tess forge a sexual, no-strings relationship, but of course along the way they ‘catch feelings’ for each other.
Until everything comes to a head and explodes. As Tess is poised to reveal everything Adam needs to know to save his company and forge a real relationship, she is upstaged by daddy dearest, Franklin.
I loved the complexity of the hero, he has many facets, and talents revealed within the story. Tess is a confident woman forged by a harsh past and having to raise her young sister.
But in the end there is a happy ever after, and it’s sweet and definitely leaves you waiting (impatiently) for the next, inter-related storyline, Sarina and Justin.
