4 1/2 STARS!
With her Harlequin debut Robin Covington shines bright with the kick off of her Redhawk Reunion series filled with secrets, scandal and a steamy introduction to this shattered family. In TAKING ON THE BILLIONAIRE, the backstory was fresh, the characters were complex and quick to draw a reader’s attention, and the overall follow through was satisfying. I’m looking forward to more in the series!
Adam Redhawk is a rewarding character to get to know. He’s a self-made success and while he’s proud, he’s also very humble and thankful for the life he managed to achieve. Reconnecting with the siblings lost to him in childhood is at the top of his to do list.
Tess Lynch is a bit of a mystery. She is the private investigator that helped him track down his brother and sister, but she has secrets she’s holding close as she delves into yet another project with Adam. Giving in to the temptation they’ve been fighting seems like the thing to do, but an unexpected pregnancy changes the whole dynamic.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a backdrop of family drama behind the passion and desire of finding that happily ever after!
4.25 Stars!
Back when I was in my teens, a long, long time ago (LOL), I was addicted to Harlequin romances. One of my aunts and I would take turns in buying the quarterly titles and then swap them between us. I had quite the collection until my mom decided to give them all away. *sniffs* Later, I moved on to historical and contemporary romances and then MM books, but those Harlequin books have a special place in my heart. So, being a Robin Covington fan and learning she was writing a Desire title was something I couldn’t pass out on.
Tess was a bad-ass PI with a secret, and Adam was the swoon-worthy billionaire with Native American roots and a heart of gold, neither of them is looking for love, but it was inescapable. Together they were dynamite, the chemistry between them palpable from the first scene.
Taking on the Billionaire had all the elements of those Harlequin books I loved, the billionaire, the feisty heroine, the hotter than hot scenes that characterize the Desire line. It was a bit rushed, and I would have liked if some scenes were expanded on, but it was well-developed for a book of this length. Plus, it’s book 1 in the series so hopefully, we’ll get to see more of Adam and Tess in the next books.
Overall, this was an engaging read. Well-written, hot, fast-paced, and really, you can’t go wrong with a Robin Covington book. Super recommendable!

“I’ll never regret that kiss. The question is what we do next.”
Adam Redhawk has worked hard for what he has. Success hasn’t been an easy road, but he is at the top of his game. Someone is trying to sabotage his new project, trying to undermine that success.
Adam hired Tess to help find his long lost siblings. Since she has completed that job, he now wants to hire her to help find the mole in his company. It has nothing to do with the fact he wants her to stick around. It also has nothing to do with his obvious attraction to her, and if he isn’t mistaken, the feeling is mutual.
Tess is definitely attracted to Adam, but she started this job with less than honest intentions. She is getting the job done, as required, but she is getting in too deep. She knows that things are about to get complicated.
This is a great read! It’s not a cliff hanger, but I see another book coming with more from these great characters!!
