The Army trained Lieutenant Liberty McCoy to be the best—an elite Special Forces soldier, just like her father and uncles. But nothing prepared her for the bossy, good-looking Navy SEAL who rescues her after a mission goes horribly wrong.
Navy SEAL Drake Hayes thinks his team is being sent out on a special purpose extraction. He’s had enough experience to expect the unexpected. But nothing … nothing prepared him for the brave, tough woman he finds.
Their attraction is immediate, overwhelming, and all-consuming. But distance and military regulations force Drake to walk away.
When Liberty’s family discovers her capture wasn’t an act of war but a decade’s old, personal vendetta and she’s still in danger, the men of the 707 move swiftly to exact their revenge. Haunted by the torture she’d endured, plagued with guilt, and heartbroken over losing the man she’d fallen in love with, Liberty spirals out of control, leaving her alone, lost, and adrift.
When Drake faces the decision to save his career and reputation or the woman he loves, the choice is easy. Leaving everything he’d worked so hard for behind, it’s time to follow his heart. Will Drake make it in time, or is Liberty too far gone?

Liberty’s story is as raw, beautiful & gritty as her relentless spirit to complete her mission and honor the men she lost.
The first three chapters of this book had me in tears over the physical pain & mental anguish Liberty endured. She was so strong. A lone survivor in the truest sense who struggles to let those who love her most both care for & pour love on her once she returns home from war.
Riley painted a very vivid, honest & sometimes gut wrenching picture of what life is often like for survivors of PTSD and their families including dealing with a flashback in the moment and how both PTSD & survivor’s guilt can affect the ones they love most. Riley once again showed us the power & importance of family made by bond – not by blood. Liberty’s entire family comes full force to surround Liberty in strength and stand with her in solidarity against those who seek to harm her and the family.
I’m thoroughly impressed in the way Drake just gets Liberty. He’s experienced the trauma of being a POW, knows what’s going on in Liberty’s head and doesn’t let her drown in the chaotic waves of her emotions. Drake fully supports her, gives her a voice and a seat at the table when she feels as though no one’s listening. He sees all of her – both the amazing warrior Liberty outwardly carries herself as along with the beautiful, kind woman tucked safely beneath.
While I’m a bit sad to see the 707 Next Generation series come to a close, Riley Edwards did an amazing job of tying together all our favorite characters, both old & new. She perfectly sets up the scene for her newest series, Triple Canopy, bringing in fresh faces while still giving us glimpses into the lives of the amazing families we’ve come to love.
Special thanks to the author for this copy which I have reviewed honestly & voluntarily. I will be purchasing a copy of this book as part of my forever collection as well.

A Brilliant, Awe Inspiring Military Romance
A read so worthy of several accolades for characters, storyline, heat, feelings, holy omg, the feelings this journey invoked. It starts out so real, so gritty, my stomach was in knots. I was front and center the whole journey, which is the best ever reading, to find yourself so absorbed into those pages, you become the character(s).
Liberty McCoy, a hero to be honored, a woman to be cherished, so determined and focused on being the best of the best, now thinks she’s broken. She’s not broken, but she, along with her team, were betrayed! The persons responsible still need to be caught. When they find out it’s personal, well game on! A whole new playing field opened up with Triple Canopy being the home team.
It takes a good, no, a great man, to show her she’s still tough as nails, confident, and hasn’t lost a thing that makes up the Liberty McCoy he knows and fell in love with when he first found her.
Drake is that man, with a soul connection to the true Liberty.
This journey is about so much, the camaraderie and connection of a team. Families, blood or not, and having each others’ backs no matter what, reading each other in order to stay alive, or simply a show of solidarity, an unwavering trust.
A fantastic sigh worthy and surprising HEA. A bit sad because it’s the last of this series.
Not to worry as this segues into an exciting new series with new characters mixing it up with our beloved and expanding 707 families.
A stand alone, fast paced and emotional. Heat, wit, and hair raising action, there’s a bit of humor thrown in as well, and I loved every last bit.
I am a crier… I cried in all the other books, the 707 series as well as Next Generation, and this book was no exception. But these were good tears… Wow what an amazing family Liberty is blessed with. I will miss them all, can’t believe it is the end of this series.
The book starts off with a BANG!!!! That first chapter will just have you sitting on the end of your seat, so if possible, see that there is no distractions when you start reading this book.
Liberty is an amazing woman and tough as nails. Being captured and tortured and going out in the field right after is an amazing feat, but considering her family tree…. guess it should be no surprise.
We have a lovely, protector in Drake and the way the rest of his team also gathers around her, just makes you like them immediately.
Drake is a strong hero and does not let Liberty shy away form the after effects of her experience or the emotional storm that comes after.
Can’t wait for the Triple Canopy series to start. The characters for those books are already close to my heart.
Thanks Riley. Another great read.

The last one in the series is indeed quite a tough one. Liberty being taken hostage, tortured and after 10 days rescured by her cousins former Seal-team – she closes down, trapped in her own head. Fortunately, Drake’s been there all the way and tries his best to get her out of her head.
This last book is even more … everything … than the previous books and they have been awesome. Very close-knit-family series.
Wow, I was blown away!
Taking Liberty
An absolutely awesome book that I was enthralled with from start to finish Military suspense at its best but I have to admit these characters make me want more….they are funny, loyal and the love surrounding them all flows from the pagesThis story was also amazing in the sense that it tied up some loose ends for the original 707 team, aka the Uncles, but also introduces us to some characters that I’m sure will be showing up in the next series of Triple Canopy – which I’m super excited about
Liberty is taken as a POW and Drake’s team or should I say Carter’s old team, are the team assigned to rescue her. Drake and Liberty are immediately drawn to each other, but because of their military designations and non-fraternisation policies….they try to resist each other But Fate has a way of ensuring destinies are followed and met
Liberty is my favorite so far. I didn’t think these books could get better but WOW. This series Is a must have
LOVED this book. LOVED IT. And Riley Edwards, if the end didn’t confirm that there would be a Triple Canopy series I would have been REALLLLY ticked off. All that being said, Liberty and Drake were fantastic. I love the family dynamic with the uncles and cousins so much. Liberty was strong, fierce, determined, smart, protective and independent. She was the epitome of the female warrior. (and while I did not agree with the fraternization angle, I do realize it was necessary to the story) Everything you want your daughter to be no matter her career and everything we want our female service members to be. There is no H & h in this story. Hero and Heroine made this book. When Drake said he’d walk beside Liberty forever. OMG. Finished the book while working from home during the quarantine and husband caught me in the act and crying at the ending. “is this what you do when I’m not home”
The story grabs you from the very beginning. A very emotional story. I have read all the 707 and Next Generation books and loved them all. Cant wait for the Triple Canopy series.

Both Drake and Liberty are in the Armed Forces. Liberty. Liberty’s team mission is to capture a bomber. Liberty is captured, held prisoner and tortured. The rest of her team is killed.
Drake and his team are sent to rescue her. They do and she is sent back to recuperate.
Then Liberty joins Drakes’s team to try to capture the man who held Liberty and bomber.,who her original team was trying to capture.
Riley has done done it again. Great characters and storyline, suspense and steamy sex. Can’t wait to see what she does next.

wish I was good with words to show how much I loved this book. What Liberty and Drake went through as individuals made them stronger as a couple. Riley Edwards really knows how to much you feel invested in the characters and has you cheering for the HEA that these characters deserve.
Opening a book by Riley Edwards is like opening a door and stepping into another world.
Taking Liberty surrounds the reader with the amazing men and women of the Next Generation series, men and women of honor who you want to keep close, whose love and support is beyond inspirational. Characters who will stay with you long after the last page has been turned.
Navy SEAL Drake and Army Ranger/SF Lt Liberty are thrown together in the midst of combat where there is no guarantee of life or tomorrow. But their enemy has crossed the lines of the battlefield and it will take their team to win, to heal.
Some books are hard to put down, but with Taking Liberty, it is impossible. Get ready to sigh, to giggle, to cry, to laugh out loud. Like a tattoo on your skin, this story will remain in your heart.
All the feels with this one. Trigger warning! There is scenes of extreme nature in this book that could be triggers. Yes, the author warns you about them. Liberty is military and the opening sequence is truly hard but essential to the story. Liberty has had to prove herself, I mean, look at the legacy that she has to live up to! Drake and his team rescue her and this begins a whirlwind of military action followed by survivor’s guilt and Liberty’s dealing with it. Once again, Riley Edwards takes us on a journey that leaves you with your heart wide open and pumping. I love her stories and, even though I knew this was the last in this series, was not quite prepared for it to end. But it was a well deserved ending.
This was a perfect ending to a great series. Army Ranger Liberty McCoy has been taken and we find her tied up being tortured in the opening scene of the book. She has been captured and isn’t sure where she is or the whys yet.
Drake and his men have been sent to find and rescue her. He knows that there is no telling what they will find when they finally do find her. They are just hoping to find her alive. Drake knows Carter Lenox, he was one of his teammates. He has vowed to do everything he can to find and bring his cousin home. Drake and his men will stop at nothing to do just that. They are amazed when they do find Liberty and help her start to heal immediately from what she has been through.
It’s so hard to not give spoilers away as everything is so important to the story that I am so afraid to spoil it for others.. Grab a glass, bottle of wine, box of tissues and some chocolates, find a good reading spot and dive in. This story brings us full circle to where it all began with Freeto the Next Generation series in the journey of these men and their amazing women and the families they have created.
I can’t even begin to describe the range of emotions this book is going to take the reader through. It was so heartbreaking and gut wrenching at times then laugh thru to tears funny. I always feel like I am right there with characters. The imagery used is always beautifully written.
This was such an amazing story but you need to make sure you have ready every other book first to even begin to grasp how important this story is to the end of this series which sets up Riley Edwards next series Triple Canopy.
This book is an amazing ending to the series, while still leading into the new Triple Canopy series. Liberty shows that she is just as strong as the other members of her family. Yet, I feel the underlying thread is not about her strength and resilience, it’s about the true bond of family and relationships. How much would you give up for those you love and what do you gain instead? The families are deeply connected in this series (and the 707 series), proving it is possible to make your own family with your friends. Liberty and Drake’s characters are so real and raw in how they respond and handle everything thrown at them. The scenes explaining what Liberty and Drake went through (as well as tying in her family’s past) are well written. They are dramatic but real, going for realism over sensationalism. It is so believable. The hard issues of PTSD, overcoming emotional and other trauma, as well as dealing with sacrifices your partner makes (without resentment) are just some of the issues dealt with. The way that Drake handled what happened is exactly what you would expect for his character (even as you wish it could be different and are angry on his behalf). Liberty works through the issues, without just suddenly “being ok” after all she’s dealt with. She has to deal with all the hard dirty issues before she can heal. Her family and friends (and Drake) are there to help her but it is she who must take the steps. I feel this is definitely a happily ever after but it is a hard won and much deserved one. There is so much emotion in this book. I cried at some parts but couldn’t put it down. This is a very fitting ending to this series and I loved seeing the 707 men married and happy years later. (It’s hard to find books that show the couples after their love story and how they continue their lives). I can’t wait for the Triple Canopy series!!! (I really tried not to give spoilers but this book has so many good quotes and specific details). I cannot wait to read Riley’s future books!
Being in the military there’s a chance you’ll get caught while out on patro and either be killed or captured. This was a well written story about a female Lt. Ranger who was out with her team on a mission and they were setup and ambushed. Her team was killed except for her and she wished she wasn’t. She was tortured repeatly for info she wouldn’t give up. When she’s finally rescued by Seals, her abductor and tormenter escaped, only to come back at her again. There’s lots of action, hell they got thru and questions as to why she was targeted. HEA.
Riley Edwards this was so awesome and what a great segway from The Next Generation to Triple Canopy.
Be prepared to cry and love Liberty through her survival after being captured. Through this story you get to see how strong Liberty an Army Officer is taking what she has learned from her dad, uncles and cousins to be the person that she has grown into. She has love of country, family and service and doesn’t like to come off weak. Drake (Ice) was Carter’s former teammate and has it bad. Talk about love at first sight for the both of them. Follow these two lovebird survivors nagivate love and fight for what they want. Also, see part of the next team to take the reins for Triple Canopy starting with Brady and Hadley.

Taking Liberty
Liberty is a hero! What she went through brought chills down my spine and had me holding my breath. Although Liberty is very strong, she has a lot to overcome. Drake is willing to stick by her side and be whatever she needs. This has all the feels and once I started it, I couldn’t put it down. Who needs sleep when there’s a new Riley Edwards book to read!?
This book grabs you from page one. I love strong female roles, but Lt. Liberty McCoy is one special lady. She is a survivor. Navy Seal Drake Hayes forms an instant connection with Liberty upon first sight. There are tears, laughter, and more tears throughout this story. A great conclusion to the Next Generation series. All the characters make an appearance and the family dynamics is wonderful to read. I didn’t want to put this book down. I highly recommend it. Looking forward to the next series.

Riley has done it again! Every time I have read a new book in this series, as well as the starting 707 series I thought there was no way she could top it. Each time she proves me wrong! In every one of her books, I could see the story as if I was there.
My heart went out for Liberty and what she went through with her struggles. And what is not to like when Drake is the one that can make her feel settled; the one that can read her when she really needs someone to understand without pity. So many emotions in this book – I cried, I smiled, I loved and although I am sad this is the last book I’m happy we got to see more of a peak of the characters we’ll see in the Triple Canopy series.
