I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the last book in the series and its one of my favorites. It stars Jordan, and a new character to us, Harper, who is the coach’s daughter. It is NOT a forbidden romance, as the coach even helps Jordan out in this romance.
It is more of a bit of insta attraction at a bachelor auction for charity where he buys a date with her. But she doesn’t want to ever date a hockey player, and so she keeps saying NO.
Its a story where he chases Harper and she makes him really work for it. And well I loved it. Jordan is such a cutie and he sorta stalks her at book club and all over town as he tries to get Harper to let him take his shot.
Its a sexy, sweet and romantic story with some awesome characters and I am so sad to see this series end. But what a great ending.
Oh man these last two books in this series really brought us the best guys. First the mature, older brother, serious Grant and now the young, sweet, but seriously hot Jordie. It’s a toss up who I like better at this point.
Jordie certainly had his work cut out for him with Harper. I lived the progression of their relationship, how wholeheartedly Jordie pursued Harper. Made for a really fun read although I knew that bet would come back to bite him.
I love how this book ended full circle with Justin and Elise’s wedding. We started the series with the original playboys, who all fell hard and threw in some new characters along the way. Each of them more awesome than the next. Not to mention Jordie and Harper’s happily ever after.
**I was generously provided with an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review.**
I really enjoyed this series and this book. I was sad to see that the last book of the Hot Jocks series was coming out but I’m happy for what’s coming next from Kendall. I didn’t go into reading Taking His Shot with any expectations for how I’ll feel about since we only met Jordie a few times and Harper was a brand new heroine that we hadn’t met at all. From the start, I loved Harper. I loved how tough she was and how she really stuck to rule when it came to dating Jordie. He really had to work hard to get her to agree to just one date with him. She was funny and loved her family. She did annoy me though. She could be selfish sometimes and I guess being the youngest could make you that way. I didn’t quite understand her reasonings for not dating a hockey player. I could get it but you can’t judge every by his profession. I liked Jordie. He was a sweetheart and I knew if he got Harper to agree, he’d treat her like a queen. He wouldn’t have worked that hard to get a date if it wasn’t serious for him. I hated the bet that he made at the beginning of the book. It was so clear that that was going to bite him in the butt at some point in the book.
While I enjoyed this story, I thought it was a little predictable. As soon as Jordie made the bet, I knew what was going to happen. Eventually, Harper would agree to go out with him, and just as they were getting along, this secret was going to come up and tear them apart. I didn’t like that to be honest because I thought the book would have still been a great one without that. It probably has more to do with how many romance books I read than the book itself. Other than those points, I thought this was an amazing way to end a series. I loved the Hot Jocks series and I am sad to see it go. I’ve been reading it since last July. It was such a fun series and I loved how each couple had a unique dynamic and set of problems plaguing their relationships. All the males were different and so were the females. There were so many personalities and I wouldn’t mind seeing where they all are five years from now in a short story. I’m excited about Kendall’s next release and I’m a complete fan of her work. She is an author I’ll read anything by just because her name is on it!
*I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.*
This is the last book of the Hot Jocks series, and can be read as a stand-alone. But for the fullest enjoyment I’d prefer to read them from the beginning. And let’s be honest, these books are all so amazing, you don’t want to miss out!
This is Jordie’s story, youngster rookie and the ‘baby’ of the group. Seeing all his teammates / his family fall in love and building a family, he starts longing for this as well. And sets his eyes on Harper. His coach’s daughter!
But: Harper doesn’t date players!
Sweet story about these two, I loved their banter and how Harper let’s Jordie work for everything. And how much he works for it. Swoon! Of course the interaction with all the other couples is fantastic as well, I love all of them. I’m very sad to see them go now, but can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us next!
You want to read a fantastic hockey series with swoon worthy players and sassy and strong ladies?! This is it! Enjoy!!!
Taking His Shot is book #7 and the final book in the Hot Jocks series by Kendall Ryan. This is Jordie and Harper’s story.
It’s quite the moving, emotional, entertaining, funny , feisty, swoony, sizzling and romantic stories in the Hot Jocks series. I loved Jordie and Harper- liked that they were multidimensional characters ; Jordie’s the youngest member on the team, the rookie. He sees all his teammates settling down, getting into relationships/marriage and from that babies are springing forth. Jordie starts feeling a need for what his teammates have. He has his eyes on the one woman who won’t give him the time of day-His coach’s daughter, Harper Allen!
Harper has never dated hockey players , in fact, has sworn off dating hockey players. So what’s a man to do ?
I loved the humor, the laughs, the sizzle, the angst and the sparks that flew between Jordie and Harper as he’s trying to get her to fall and she’s putting up her walls. There’s several twists and turns that go pretty much to almost the end. Loved the feels and was sad to see the end of the series. Good way to wrap up…would have liked more of how this couple ended up instead of a quick rush on the ending but overall good read.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *********
This was a fantastic story, filled with humor, love, heat and so much emotion. I just didn’t want to put the story down. The characters are fantastic and this was a great ride.
Since the moment Harper Allen and Jordan Prescott meet I was all in. So much fun watching the antagonism between them as well as their mutual attraction. I loved their chemistry and the sexual tension, and oh my…that first kiss was perfection. And that was the just the start, whew!
I loved Harper and how tough she was, with her stance about not dating Hockey players, and how she didn’t put up with anything that Jordan used to try and sway her. Jordan has a growing reputation for casual hookups, but he is so smitten by Harper from the moment he sees her that he is taking everything about Harper seriously. Which is something new for him completely.
And boy does she make him work for it like no girl has before. This slow build was simply the best part. But as these two become more comfortable with one another, they learn that they have more in common than they ever could imagine. Making the sparks fly when they finally give into their mutual attraction.
The writing was fantastic. A totally solid read. There was just such great progression that it had me turning the pages as quick as I could. Great characters that I fell in love with the more the story went on. I loved watching them let down their walls, especially Jordan he really works hard earn Harper’s trust.
Received a early copy for a honest review.
I love this book so much! Hot Jocks is one of my all-time favorite series! Jordie and Harper’s story was so sweet – I loved everything about it! I devoured this book in one sitting! I could not put it down! I loved being able to see our other favorites too! It’s pretty rare to have 7 books in a series a say you love every single one – but this is one of those rare times! Taking His Shot and this whole series is a huge FIVE STARS!!!
Jordie is one determined hockey player!! Lana~White Hot Reads
Jordie never hears no for an answer so when Harper denies his request for date its game on. No matter how many times Jordie gets shot down he still comes back and finally Harper gives in. The chemistry these two have is awesome and Jordie gets to show Harper that he’s more than a hockey player. I loved how the whole gang was in this and loved how the series ended. Gonna miss these hot hockey player jocks.
This book is so bittersweet, because I hate to say goodbye to this series and characters. I became a huge hockey fan because of Justin, Owen, Ted, Grant, Asher, Landon and now Jordie. They made a huge part of my life for several months and I will truly miss them, we faced many joyful events and turbulent times in this period and I think of them as close friends.
Jordie is a great guy! I think Kendall Ryan has developed a truly good guy with Jordie, he is considerate, likes romance novels and has the sexiest mouth! Harper is so fortunate that I believe that if she knows this ahead she would not be so hard to get.
But the dynamic between these two is what makes this book so great and lovable. They are great together and despite being so young I am sure will conquer their place in the world.
I loved this book!!!
When Harper’s father asks her to fill in as the Seattle Ice Hawks Ice Queen and be auctioned off at his teams charity auction she reluctantly agrees, it’s only one date right? This event takes place every year and the funds are donated to charity, which is something Harper can get behind… but it’s the date part she struggles with. Knowing that usually it is a member of her father’s hockey team that bids on a date with the Ice Queen gives her hives. She despises hockey players and all that they stand for, so learning she has to go on a date with one is unsettling to say the least.
But then she meets the man who placed the winning bet, and suddenly her will to avoid hockey players starts to falter… cause Jordie Prescott is one fine looking man!
Taking His Shot rounds out the Hot Jocks series, and brings us into the lives of rookie hockey player Jordie Prescott and the woman who makes him want to tame his wild ways, Harper Allen. These two bring a whole lot of life to the pages, Jordie is determined to prove to Harper he is worth her time, and goes to great lengths to plead his case. While Harper is determined to stand her ground and abide by her no hockey players rule, but Jordie starts to leave her rattled… in a good way of course. It’s evident these two have sparks, but the question remains… is that all it is, or is there more to it? Each page delves deeper into their hot little battle and deeper in their insecurities and hang-ups about love. You’ll be feeling the angst, love and steam throughout! I loved my time with these two, there was never a dull moment between the pages, they had me smiling, swooning, and laughing throughout… what a way to close out the series! I think Ms. Ryan saved the best for the last!! Highly recommend this one, these two are certain to steal your heart and leave you smiling like a fool!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
4.5 Taking His Shot was funny, cute, and an overall great read! I love Jordie, he’s a wonderful guy! I loved being in his head and learning more about him. I didn’t like Harper quite as much as Jordie, but I still enjoyed her as a character. She’s good for Jordie and I’m happy that she gave him a shot. As always it was great catching up with the other players and their significant others. I was very happy to get updates on the whole bunch. I’m sad to see this series come to an end, it’s been great! I can’t wait for more hockey books from Kendall! *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
This is the final book in the Hot Jocks series and Jordie’s story doesn’t disappoint!
He’s the rookie of the team and his teammates have become his family!
He’s private, wants to find that special someone and after a bid at a charity auction he doesn’t count on Harper!
I loved the fact that Jordie had to actually work for Harper’s attention! She also has a rule, can Jordie get her to break it? I loved that he opened up and I especially liked how he really wanted that unconditional love all his teammates seem to have found! Can Jordie find it too or will he fail!? I loved hearing how the men and their respective partners from this series are doing and I really enjoy their comradery! Can Jordie redeem himself and become the man he is destined to be!?
Just the perfect ending to an amazing series!!!
Audiobook review:
The narrators for Taking His Shot nailed it to perfection. I loved feeling that Jordie and Harper seemed to come to life and it made the story even better with the way this book was narrated by both Teddy and Savannah.
The banter was brilliant, the sense of family was wonderful and the way their friendship progressed was beautiful to hear. I felt like something big was going to happen and I wondered how things would eventuate for them both. This was the perfect audio to end this fantastic series!!!
This book is bittersweet because it is the end of the series and time to say goodbye to the Seattle Ice Hawks.
Jordie is the rookie and decided to place a bet for a date with the Ice Princess, who just so happens to be the coach’s daughter, Harper. Harper doesn’t date players, she saw how things were growing up with her father’s career and it’s just not something she was interested in.
Jordie definitely has his work cut out for him when it comes to Harper but he doesn’t give up easily. He does whatever he can to get Harper’s attention and to get a date with her, including forming a book club with the rest of the guys.
There is some great chemistry between Harper and Jordie. He’s a good guy, he hasn’t had the past life growing up and doesn’t really let anyone know all the details, but he let Harper in. Harper is tough, she knows what she wants and likes to stick to her guns. It was enjoyable watching them get closer, then of course there was some drama when things were just starting to get good between them.
Taking His Shot is a MUST READ and a great ending to the series.
This is the final book in the hot jocks series and I’m gutted that an end has come to one of my favourite series but that didn’t stop me loving Jordies story.
Harper has grown feeling like she’s second to her dads job as a hockey coach so it’s not really surprising that she’s sworn off ever having a relationship with a player. She’s feisty, knows her own mind and what she wants.
Jordie is the rookie of the group and while his team mates have been falling in love, he’s been perfecting the art of been a player. He’s young, free and single so why not? When he wins a date with Harper, he’s not going to let a little thing like her not dating players rule stand in his way.
I loved everything about this book. It’s got everything I’ve come to expect from Ms Ryan. I’m a sucker for a hockey romance and this series is definitely in my top reads.
Jordie and Harper’s story was the cake topper in this series. I loved the Hot Jocks previous books and fell so hard for each character. But with out beloved rookie, he needed some hard love to push him to his limits and true potential. Harper was a fireball. I loved her and knew that she was destined for Jordie.
You do not get hearts and flowers right away. These characters are stubborn and need to take a minute to realize what they both want. I was ok with that as I loved every moment it took to get there.
Taking His Shot was simply the best! I am sad to say goodbye to this series, but loved how it all unfolds with the end.
Saved the best for last!!! Jordie and Harper were A-MA-ZING!!!!! Boy did that girl make Jordie work reallyyyyyy hard for a first date but he was persistent and never gave up. Harper was stubborn and being the daughter of the coach she had a rule of not dating hockey players. She never broke that rule until Jordie wore her down. He was so irresistible and Harper tried several times to stand her ground but she saw sides of him that made him different. Jordie realized that she was the one and worked hard for her; he had his Coach, Harper’s dad, approval from the beginning. When she finally gave in oh boy the chemistry and hot scenes. There was a slight event that could’ve messed up everything forever but the way he fought for her and add his teammates adding their two cents which was really adorable made for an amazing ending. It was nice catching up with the teammates and their spouses and it showed that they are family.
Forget sparks, Taking His Shot breathes fire. The master of foreplay is back to make hearts swoon and kick hormones into overdrive. Ryan continues to spice it up with her signature style of heat, emotions and humor to even out some of the heartache. Jodie and Harper make it hard to say goodbye, but remind me why I fell head over heart for these Hot Jocks along the way.
Taking His Shot is the seventh and final book in the Hot Jocks series by Kendall Ryan. Each can be read as standalone but I do recommend reading the series since it’s full of fun, sexiness, friends, family, and love. This is Jordie and Harper’s story…
It all started when the Ice Princess called in sick. Harper knows she is no princess but she stepped into the Ice Princess dress for charity. She prays the winner of a date with her isn’t a hockey player. She does not date them. She doesn’t even enjoy their company but she is doing this for her father. Unfortunately, for her her prayers are not answered with she sees who walks up to the stage to take a picture with her. Jordie Prescott, rookie for the Ice Hawks. He might have won a date but he won’t win her…
It was tradition that the rookie bid on the a date with the Ice Princess and he was it. Not a bad a deal. The woman was beautiful and after introducing himself he knew he liked her feistiness. This was even before he was hit with a few reasons he might not get his shot. She is the coach’s daughter and she doesn’t date players. Few have tried and she shoots them down. But after talking to her he knew he wanted that date. Now.
It’s not easy. He needs to prove to her that he isn’t the type of player she avoids. The selfish, cocky, and asshole kind. That might have been him in the past sans asshole but that’s not him. He really likes her. Her feistiness. Her beauty. Her wit. He even likes that she makes him work for her attention.
Awe! I loved these two. They have their obstacles. They are so much fun!! I just loved their banter, flirty vibes, and heart. It was a perfect ride for what is happening around the country right now. It’s a fast read to get lost in.
P.S. I love their Jordie’s reading material.
Quotes:
“For a non-date, you’re being pretty chivalrous,” I say when he settles into the driver’s side next to me.
“Date or not, I know how to treat a lady.”
“The truth is I have no idea what I’m doing, and I never learned the rules.”
“When’s the next book club meeting?” I chuckle.
“You actually want to meet again? You realize I won’t be paying you.”
He grins. “Hell yeah, I want to meet again. I tried a few of those moves from the book with Sara, and it was fucking hot.”
Taking His Shot is book 7 in the Hots Jocks Series and for me this is one of those series that has got better with each book, I was sad going into this one because I knew it was the final story in the series but let me just say this “ Ms Ryan left the best for last “ and you will want to add Jordie and Harper’s romance to your TBR list or should I say you will want to one click this must read for all hockey lovers as well as all romance lovers in general.
This is a romance between the team rookie and the coaches daughter and lines are going to be crossed, Jordie needs to prove to the team that he is worthy of his spot and he should be concentrating on hockey but that’s hard to do when you can’t get the coaches daughter out of your mind. Harper has sworn she will never date a hockey player, she is worth more than a fling with a player so why is the new guy occupying so much of her mind……
This book ticked all my boxes, I loved this couple, I loved the chemistry and the banter they shared but most of all I loved the loyalty they shared as friends before becoming the lovers they were destined to be. A great addition to a wonderful series and I can’t wait to see what’s next from this very talented author.
Jordie and Harper gave me a thought-provoking and fun romance. Harper gets roped into being auctioned off by her dad and Jordie has the winning bid. The problem, Harper doesn’t date hockey players. This goes back to her childhood with all the moving around they did for her Dad’s job as a hockey coach and knowing that the team will always come first. She doesn’t want to be second but Jordie is determined to claim his date. He uses all the tricks to run into her and spend time with her. It is so sweet and clever. Jordie has his own issues with relationships, he’s never had one. He has his own skeletons to deal with and being with Harper pushes him out of his comfort zone. He’s finally found someone that he can see a future with but can he overcome his fears? What a fabulous way to end this series. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
