I am so sad to see this series come to an end but Jordie and Harper were the perfect couple to bring it to that.
I loved these two, both stubborn and determined to have it their way. It may have brought them to head a couple of times but in the end it gave them what the deserved, their HEA. Jordie was both persistent and patient with Harper. Each of them had their own issues from childhood that needed worked out. Both felt an extreme loss during childhood and dealt with it in different ways.
The friendship that developed along with the chemistry was great. Both characters grew throughout the book with the help of the other and the people surrounding and supporting them.
I loved seeing each couple and where they were at the end of the book. This book did a great job of wrapping up the series and showing us a little more in our Hot Jocks world.
This is my first book by this author and I loved it! I am now off to read the books in the series that come before this one. Can’t wait!
I loved this fun & flirty, heartwarming, steamy romance! Harper is the coaches daughter and her life has been transient as she follows her dad from one city to the next for his job. She only wants to have roots, good friends, and a stable home and family. She does not want to fall back into the hockey lifstyle so she refuses to date a hockey player. Jordie is living his dream playing professional hockey and enjoying the lifestyle that goes with it. But he likes what his friend and team captain, Grant, has with the love of his life, and thinks it’s about time to settle down. The first meet cute between Harper and Jordie is hilarious as she puts him in his place. But Jordie is a professional competitor and loves the challenge. As they get to know each other, both their opinions about each other change. Harper sees how kind and thoughtful and charming Jordie is and Harper becomes more than a challenge to Jordie, she is the one! But when secrets come to light it could tear them apart for good. Teddy Hamilton, and Savannah Peachwood did a great job bringing this story to life. They have great chemistry as Hamilton made me swoon over Jordie and Peachwood made Harper so relatable. They really made this heartwarming, sweet and sexy romance even better!
Gah the final book.
Jordie and Harper’s story was a great way to finish this series.
Right off the bat Jordie is cocky, sure of him self and down right sexy.
This story had banter, laughs, chemistry and heartache.
Jordie and Harper were cute and so good together. You wanted Jordie to win her heart you wanted Harper to give him a chance even though she never dates hockey players.
I smiled throughout reading and even had a few moments I felt my eyes sting.
With a ending so sweet you will smile from ear to ear. Jordie will capture your heart and have hearts in your eyes.
A feel good romance about hockey, finding love and winning the girl you won’t want to put Jordie down.
Kendall Ryan knows how to deliver a great story and Taking His Shot was no different. It was a great book to end the Hot Shot series with and one to be missed.
We are introduced to Harper Allen, a writer for an online magazine and the daughter of the coach for the Seattle Ice Hawks. Although she is has the connection to be closer to the team, she has one rule and that is to not date any of the hockey players. But when her dad asks to be the Ice Hawks ice princess for charity, she accepts without realizing that a hockey player was about to change her life forever. Jordan Prescott never backs down from a challenge and when he finds out that Harper doesn’t date hockey players, it makes him want her even more. As the rookie for the Seattle Ice Hawks, it’s tradition to bid on the ice princess and he does it only to find out that he truly wants to be with Harper. As the two get to know each other, we get to find out more about their pasts and how secrets could end hurting their relationship.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story, it was well written and the characters were swoon worthy. We get to know Jordie in previous books and I was really excited to read his own story and it didn’t disappoint at all. Harper is so adamant about not dating a hockey player and would up with all kinds of excuses to not go out with Jordie. But he loves a good challenge and when he sets his eyes on Harper, it’s hard for him to not fight for her. All in all, if love a steamy and entertaining sports romance than I would highly recommend checking out this book and the rest of the series. You will not regret it!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
It’s the last book in the series and it’s Jordie’s turn to find love. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book because leading from the first book we didn’t really get much interaction with Jordie through the series, until we got to Grant’s book, but in saying that I was excited to jump in.
Jordie is a little cocky, a bit of a playboy, but what young hockey star isn’t. Harper is the coach’s daughter and one tough egg! She is strong and isn’t about to fall for Jordie and his Shhhhh..
These two burned hot through the book. I liked their concept, a little bit of a forbidden love thing happening. I thought Jordie was a sweetheart with a painful past. They shared something with each other on a different level. They connected.
I laughed, had a little bit of a tear up on an occasion or two, but the emotions were running high in this one! I enjoyed the story line and am a little sad to see these guys are all finished up and ready to live their lives with their ladies. I can’t wait to see where the author takes us next.
Sexy hockey player A Challenge Hot Chemistry A fun and flirty storyline with fantastic narration
Loving the continuation of this series! Doing a favor for her father and filling in at a charity event for the hockey team, Harper is determined to complete the task as fast as possible. As a child, she has been reluctant to do anything involving the sport, especially dating any players. Jordie has been the rookie player for the team for a few years, and has found that the player days are past him. When he sees Harper and realizes she’s the coach’s daughter, he hesitates, but is dying to get to know her. In combination, he ends up getting involved in a bet with another player about getting Harper to fall for him. As Jordie works to break down Harper’s walls, he finally gets his chance when she agrees to date, and as they get to know each other, the chemistry continues to grow and feelings get stronger. But when Harper finds out about the bet, after she has let him in and given him a chance, it puts their entire relationship at risk. I loved Harper and Jordie’s journey especially after the pasts the pair have. I was so happy they got their HEA and can’t wait for the next installment in this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Jordie and Harper are fire! The chemistry these two have will ignite all the feels. Harper wants nothing to do with any players especially hockey but when Jordie sets his eyes on her she finds herself seeing a completely different side to the hot shot rookie. Jordie makes a decision that in the end could potentially ruin his chances with Harper for good. What happens when strong – independent Harper finds out Jordie’s little secret….you’ll just need to read to find out! Be ready for these two to totally capture your heart.
UGH—I LOVE the Hot Jocks book and this one just fell flat. I may try and reread at another time. Maybe its just the mood I am in? The h just seemed like a bitch to me. She wasn’t very likable and I am sure if I just stuck with it–I would end up loving her but I got bored after Chapter 7 and decided to stop. BLAH!
I can’t believe it has come to an end, but what a ride! The last book in Kendall Ryan’s Hot Jocks series is here! Taking His Shot gives us the story of Jordie and Harper. Jordie is enjoying his life when he meets Harper and is drawn to her. Harper believes she does not want to date a hockey player, but Jordie is one determined man. They share some great chemistry and their journey was light, fun and charming. What a great way to end an amazing series.
Happy reading!
This was such a fun sweet story and great audio. Kendall Ryan’s final book in her Hot Shots series was all things sweet, sexy, and plenty of steam. I also loved the little twist where it’s the heroine who’s not looking for romance. Jodie and Harper might just be my favorite couple from the series.
Narration was performed by Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood. This is narrating duo was absolutely fantastic. I didn’t want to press pause for anything in the world. Both brought the characters to life effortlessly and made this audiobook more credit-worthy. 4 stars.
What a wonderful book again by Kendall Ryan. Too bad it is the last one of the Hot Jocks series. This book has given me every emotion from laughing to tears. The end of the story doesn’t feel like the end though but the beginning of something new. I would love a ginormous group epilogue of this series.
Loved it!!!!
Sporty, sexy, and satisfying!
Taking His Shot is a passionate, sweet RomCom about the intelligent, feisty Harper who knows she needs more of a social life but is adamant she won’t date hockey players and the dreamy, hunky Jordan who’s finally ready for a little more than just casual hookups and is willing to work as hard as necessary to make it happen.
The writing is light and crisp. The characters are charismatic, kind, and fun-loving. And the plot is the perfect blend of drama, emotion, humour, heat, witty banter, chemistry, friendship, romance, and hockey.
Overall, Taking His Shot is the seventh and final novel in the Hot Jocks series, and even though it’s a little bittersweet to say goodbye to the characters we’ve come to know and love from the previous novels, it is nevertheless a fabulous ending, perhaps my favourite of them all, to a superb series that I am definitely going to miss.
I was looking forward to reading this story but also not really because I know it’s the last one in this series. Jordie and Harper have you from the beginning and you just can’t get enough. This is such a cute story, steam and feels, the best mix for a great read. Definitely a must read!!
Who is Harper? What do we learn about her? What do we find her doing? Who and what is her father? Who is Faith? Who is Jordan Prescott? What does he do for a living? What is Harper’s number one rule about whom she will or will not date? What happens when Morgan says something out of turn? Can Jordan get what he wants? Read and see!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin’ With M. Brennan.
I enjoyed this a lot. I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
Just a warning that this book mentioned suicide; if that’s a trigger for you, you might what to skip it. In my opinion, Harper was a lot like me. She loved reading, writing, animals, etc. I will say that her actions and thoughts were questionable sometimes though. I would have loved to see more with her dad, and of her volunteering, because I felt like those two things weren’t explored to their full potential.
While I wouldn’t say Jordan (Jordie) was my favorite guy from the series, I liked his character. He was fun, a good friend, but also had some baggage (for lack of better words) that made me love him even more. His friendship with Grant that was shown some in the previous book picked up in this one, and I was here for it.
I can’t believe this series is finally over! I’ve been here since book one, and loved meeting all these characters along the way. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to them. These were all fast, enjoyable reads. I recommend if you like sports romances; although the sports aspect definitely wasn’t a huge focus in general for the series, so give it a try even if you’re not a huge fan.
Kendall Ryan pulled out all the stops with this one guys! In my opinion, she saved the best for last and I am super sad about this being the last. It’s always bittersweet to see a series ending. For me, it’s worse when it’s a family based series, and these jocks are a family. Maybe it’s because my background/history is made up of moments stemming from a large and complicated family *shrug* Who knows, but they are my favorite to read and the hardest to say until we meet again to (because ya’ll know I’ll be binge reading these guys for years to come, right?! Lol).
Jordan and Harper made quite a team in this story. Both super strong characters that lifted each other up when necessary and stood by each other as well. Very sexy together with not only sexual chemistry but also friendship chemistry. It’s impossible not to root for these two. I think what made this story happier for me was the fact that Harper already knew the jock/sports world and the reputations that sometimes followed them and of course are very difficult get past. I mean without these reputations, how interesting would our reading lives be, amirite?!
*SIGH* Man, I hated when I finished this book. I just really loved both Harper and Jordan. Both were exceptional characters I swooned over at one point or another. It was a pleasure spending an afternoon with these two (and the rest of the Jocks as well)!!
Taking His Shot is book 7 in the Hot Jocks series. It’s the last one in the series. It can be read as a standalone, each boo covers a different couple. This story is Jordie and Harper’s story. Jordie is a hockey player and Harper’s dad is his coach. Harper is a great character. She doesn’t date hockey players. Jordie wants his shot with Harper and he is very persistent and won’t give up until his gets his shot. I loved watching Jordie try to win her over. There’s chemistry and a connection between the two. There’s a little thing that happens in the beginning of the story that pops back up and causes trouble. I really liked this one.
I’m not ready to say good bye to these Hot Jocks but this was the best way to end the series and I’m so glad I’d can go back and revisit them anytime I want.
I fell in love with Jordie, the rookie player for the Seattle Ice Hawks, in the previous story and was very excited to get my hands on it. I enjoyed every single part of his story. He has been watching his teammates find their soul mates and is finally ready for something deeper than a one night stand. When he bids on, and ends up winning, a date with Harper, things become more real. Harper is one of his coaches’ daughters and she refuses to date a hockey player.
Harper and Jordie’s story was so enjoyable and their chemistry was smoking hot. He had to do a little work to get the girl but it was so worth it in the end.
This story, heck, the whole series, is so much fun and I have enjoyed every single book. If you’re a lover of sports romances, you definitely need to grab these up! They can all be read as standalones but in order to get the full story I’d recommend reading from the beginning.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
