I love this author and so far this series is not disappointing at all. I really enjoyed this book.
Hot Jocks #7:This time up Jordie and Harper. Jordan (hawks rookie) and Harper (coaches daughter. Jordan bids on Harper at a charity auction but Harper plays hard to get. She doesn’t date hockey players. Will Jordie change her mind?
Jordie’s story has been siting in my TBR for months now. Not because i didnt want to read it, but because I didnt want this series to end. Jordie and Harper’s story was one I couldn’t put down. Jordie really did everything he could to get her attention. He was sweet (even though he made a stupid bet) and caring and really there for her for everything.
Jordie has to be my favorite in this series. I hate to see this series end but i also loved how the ending went.

You need to read the series!
Hockey player Jordan (Jordie) Prescott never thought he would win the date with Seattle Ice Hawks ice princess and little did he know the date was Harper Allen standing in for the sick princess and the coach’s daughter!
Harper Allen never intended to date a hockey player after following her dad around the Pacific Northwest during his coaching career but Jordie may have won the date, but Harper didn’t intend to go through with it but Jordie was very persistent.
Taking His Shot is the last book in the Hot Jocks series but if you like sports romance you really need to read all of the them.
The last in the Hot Jocks series by Kendall Ryan is one for the books. We see Jordie as the player trying to prove to everyone even his own self. We see him as the funny, playful and well playboy of the team never really taking any girl serious. At least that was until Harper Allen came up on the auction block and now he wants more than just one night with her. I loved that Harper is determined to keep to her vows about not dating but really when it comes to Jordie’s attention it’s hard. I loved how Kendall Ryan not only shows us Jordie and Harper’s story but we see all previous Ice Hawks players and their well happy endings. All in all this was a great series and sad to see it ended but beautifully in the way that Kendall Ryan knows how to make us want more.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
Taking His Shot was such a great story! I love how Harper basically is immune to the charm of hockey players growing up immersed in the world. Jordie is head over heals at first sight but takes the bet he can win her over. Neither one knew what a little persistence would do and how it would turn both their worlds upside down. The perfect love story to end the series. Harper and Jordie were a great ending to the series but I will miss these boys so much! I loved each and everyone of The HOT Jocks!
So sorry this series has ended. I love these hockey boys. Jordie was quite persistent in his quest for a date with Harper. It was really adorable and enjoyable.
This is the final book in the Hot Jocks Series and rookie hockey player Jordan “Jordie” Prescott and his coach’s daughter, Harper’s story entailing a charity auction and a bet. As the coaches daughter and living in the sport life she always set a rule for herself not to date players. Jordie wins a date with Harper (at the time of the bet he did not know who she was) and is determined to change her mind on going out with him. His persistent and the great lengths he goes through to get Harper to go out with him will have you feeling awww.
Narrators Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood was a good listen portraying Jordie and Harper. They brought some personality to the characters on their growing connection. Two people with personal histories that makes wanting more with anyone can be challenging. When all is said and revealed the question is whether they can take the risk for more.
This was a sweet ending to the series. Snippets of the characters from the other book was an added bonus. You cannot help but fall for all the Hockey players in this series and their stories.
Every single time I say one of Kendall’s characters is my favorite, she writes another that I fall in love with just a little bit more. And this is definitely one series that I didn’t want to end.
Jordie is the kind of guy that every woman wants…..he’s sweet, strong, sincere, funny, dependable, confident, hardworking, determined and sexy as hell…..yet there’s one woman that doesn’t want him….Harper Allen. Growing up with a single dad that is a hockey coach…..that’s all her life has been and therefore, she refuses to date hockey players…..hockey is not ruling and ruining her life anymore.
Jordie is not used to having to work for a woman’s attention or affection, but Harper is making him work. Instead of walking away, Jordie is determined to prove to hear that he is not the stereotypical manwhore athlete. What starts off as the slow beginnings of a friendship, grows into more as Jordie breaks down every wall that Harper erects and proves to her over and over that he’s not going anywhere. Harper is stunned when she learns that she can depend on him, trust him and lean on him.
That is until that one night when everything changes. A silly bet, a misunderstanding and they have lost everything that have worked so hard for. Can Jordie get thru to Harper and make her see that he’s not playing a game with her….that he is in this for the long haul? Can Harper really have a happy life that involves hockey?
Meh. Loved this series, but it did not end on a high note. Characters were not fleshed out, story was rushed, never really felt a connection with them at all.
Jordie’s story was worth the wait! Taking His Shot is the final book in the Hot Jocks series, can be read as a stand alone, but it’s more enjoyable if read in order. I’ve been looking forward to Jordie’s story throughout this series and have admired him from the sidelines, while he played supporting characters to the other guys. I loved this book and will definitely be revisiting their story again soon. The entire series is on you’ll want to binge-read and share with friends!
FIVE HOCKEY STARS for Harper and Jordie !!!
I can’t believe that this is the last book from the “Hot Jocks” series because I love every book and it’s hard to say goodbye to them.
“Taking His Shot” is the seventh book from the “Hot Jocks” series. It’s a sports romance book with a fake date trope.
Harper is a female character who knows what she wants and she also an independent woman who won’t fall for Jordie’s charm easily like every other woman.
Jordie is a male character you’ll absolutely fall in love with. Like I did.
Harper and Jordie’s relationship is everything you want.
If you’re looking for a sports romance book filled with a lot of funny moments, then this is a book for you!!!
So, TAKING HIS SHOT. The final story in the Hot Jocks series by author Kendall Ryan. I have to say, I was a little bit surprised by this book. Oh, I knew that I would like it, because Kendall’s hockey players have wormed their way into my romance-loving heart, but I wasn’t too sure about Jordie. Even though we’d met and liked him in earlier books, at first glance, here he comes across as another one of those guys. You know, immature, typical jock, player, skirt-chaser…but what a heart-melter he turned out to be.
And Harper. Harper is not going down without a fight. As the daughter of the team coach, she has had a long-standing rule about not dating players. And she was hanging tough, but the more she discovers about Jordie, the more they open up to each other, the harder it is for her to stay true to her decision.
TAKING HIS SHOT is emotional, passionate, and heartfelt, and shows just how far Jordie is willing to go to get his love. Harper doesn’t stand a chance, and neither did I. What a great finish to a well-loved series. I will miss these boys, and can’t wait to see what Kendall has in store for us next.
**3.5 Stars**
Harper does her dad a favor and stands in as the Ice Princess for the team charity auction where guests can bid for a date with her. Harper has a strict rule that she doesn’t date hockey players – ever. So when Jordie Prescott, the rookie her on her dad’s team, wins the auction cue the big eye roll and the chase.
Before the second chapter was over I already knew where this story was going and what the conflict would be which is kind of disappointing. Jordie was so fun and sweet. I loved the tactics he took to try and get Harper’s attention. Really fun and I found myself perpetually smiling. I was worried about Harper at first – she was so bitchy and stubborn at first I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to like her. But she ended up winning me over. I ended up understanding and respecting where she was coming from. Despite the predictability of the story I really enjoyed this one just like all the others. I am sad that this world is over. Love these Hot Jock boys.
This is the final book in the Hot Jocks series and it was a great addition and wonderful end to an amazing series. This is Jordie and Harper’s story and it was so good. Jordie has his work cut out for him because Harper doesn’t date hockey players and boy did he have to work. The chemistry and attraction between them was so good. Great read and another set of great characters that will stay with you long after you are finished with the book. I will definitely be revisiting this series many times. Loved it. I highly recommend this book as well as the whole series. Can’t wait to read what is coming next.
I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
******* AUDIOBOOK REVIEW *******
I just can’t believe the Hot Jock series is over. It’s been so amazing to meet all these guys and their amazing ladies! Jordie is the “baby” of the group and after watching all his friends find happiness, he’s ready for a bit of his own. Of course he chooses Harper, the coach’s daughter. Harper does not go down without a fight and Jordie plans to come out on top! I adored these two and the fun and flirty banter they tossed around. Now’s the time to binge this series!
The narration by Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood were simply amazing together, just like always! I swear, I could feel the smiles on both their faces when they were flirting back and forth… as if it was a real situation. They not only sound fantastic bringing that story to life but they made it come alive right in my mind!
How? How is this the end of the Hot Jocks?! I knew it was book 7 but it still makes me sad. I’ve grown with these guys! Not really but I have gotten wrapped up into their lives.
Harper doesn’t date players, period. She’s met enough of them over her lifetime that she is not going to be some puck bunny nor a notch on a goal. And really, who could blame her? So she meets Jordie ready to reject his advances. He’s too hot, too cocky and just too there.
Jordie isn’t like the other Hot Jocks. I love them all but he’s definitely different – except for being a bit of a bonehead. He knew immediately that he wanted to invest the effort into getting to know Harper, he just needed to break down her walls or at least crack them.
I’m sad but so happy for each of these couples who I’m sure I will read again!
I’m so in love with the Ice Hawks!
Jordan ‘Jordie’ Prescott may be a hot shot on the ice, but when it comes to Harper, he’s a definite underdog. I absolutely adored him in this story. He’s charming and a little bit sweet. He’s confident with plenty of cocky swagger but he doesn’t come off as a jerk. He’s funny, a little bit awkward, and extremely tenacious when it comes to getting Harper to give him a chance. He’s nothing short of irresistible.
Harper was a little hard for me to love in the beginning. Resistance to Jordie is futile, but watching her try to fight it made me want to shake some sense into her. Ultimately she won me over, so have a little patience with her. She’s funny and loving. She is unfiltered and doesn’t hold back when it comes to Jordie.
I loved these two together. Harper definitely makes Jordie work hard for her affections, and that’s something he’s not used to. The result is often swoon-worthy moments packed with plenty of feels. With witty banter and steamy heat, this is a well-rounded story to end the series on. I hate to see them go, but it’s been one heck of a series. I give this one, and all the others in the series, all the stars!
Taking His Shot is the final book in the Hot Jocks series and what a way to end it!
Jordie….sigh….what can I say about that man. He was swoony and masculine and just a complete dreamboat! And Harper…gosh, she was the epitome of an intelligent and independent woman. I knew right from the beginning these two would have amazing chemistry, and I wasn’t wrong. As strong as these characters were, each in their own way, it was amazing to see their attraction blossom into an affectionate and passionate connection. And their vulnerabilities illustrated another dynamic to their already enticing relationship.
Sweet, witty, and full of laughs, Taking His Shot was a fun and entertaining quick read. The writing was superb, as always, and flowed beautifully with the progression of the characters’ relationship. And as with every relationship, these two aren’t perfect and carry their own form of heartache. But it was the heartfelt emotions and tender moments that really shined in the heartwarming romance.
Although each book is a standalone and can be enjoyed individually, I highly recommend starting with Playing for Keeps. You will not be disappointed. Laugh, cry, and fall in love with all the men (and the women) in this fantastic series!
