I love hockey romances, and I have loved every single book in Kendall Ryan’s Hot Jocks series, so I’m sad to see it come to an end. But Ryan gave the series a fantastic finish in Harper and Jordie’s romance. Every one of the standalone stories in this series has been a completely addictive blend of heartfelt emotion, heat and humor. These stories are lighter-hearted, but there’s just enough angst in them to keep things interesting and the reader engaged in these endearing characters’ stories.
The daughter of a single dad, hockey coach, Harper knows all about the rigors and priorities that come with playing hockey at the professional level. She’s done with sacrificing her wants and needs for the game, and she’s got a hard and fast rule against dating hockey players. Jordan, the rookie on the Ice Hawks, has worked hard to get to this point in his career. He’s used to women throwing themselves at him, so when Harper outright refuses to go out with him, he’s intrigued. But when he does something he normally doesn’t do—chase the girl and take the time to actually get to know her—he realizes he really likes Harper. He’s watched as his teammates have each met and fallen in love with the women who are their other halves, and he wants his shot at a real chance with Harper to build something lasting and genuine.
Taking His Shot was a sexy and heartwarming love story, and I was swept right into Harper and Jordie’s opposites attract romance. Crackling chemistry, witty banter and a genuine connection I couldn’t get enough of, I practically inhaled Harper and Jordie’s heart-tugging, heat-filled happily ever after. Taking His Shot by Kendall Ryan gets five smooches from me!

What are we suppose to do with an ending to a series like that ?? I think Jordan Prescott won my heart at HELLO even if Harper Allen has no interest in Jordie or any hockey player for that matter ..
Jordie .. yes is a player but he never get the chance or the want to find love .. all his partner want one thing and then they are gone. He has had enough gone in his life so when he sees Harper for the first time something around his heart cracks …. Can it be ??
Harper has her own intimacy issues BUT don’t we all ?? She needs to be with a guy that is settled, no moving for place to place, just a a home body !! Can she give Jordie a chance for her happiness and his because right now his game is suffering and if he dad .. aka Coach Allan .. has anything to do with it Jordie will be skating drills for ?? Ever ??
The dynamics between there’s to is spark at first site but can they let there insecurities go to find love, sex and happiness ??
The team is family and it is great seeing them ALL one more time !! Loved it !!
I absolutely loved, loved, loved this book! Dare I say the best was saved for last?? Not sure but I will admit that Jordie has pushed Asher to number 2 and he has taken over as my favorite hot jock. I don’t think I put this book down once I started reading, it was just too good.
Harper was a fantastic match for Jordie. She didn’t fawn all over him, she didn’t google his personal/professional information in fact the fact that Jordie was a hockey player actually worked against him. Why? Harper’s dad was the coach of the team that Jordie played on and she didn’t have the best memories of hockey while she grew up. Jordie being himself didn’t give up and persued Harper and convinced her to give him a chance. Jordie and Harper were a fabulous couple and you could feel the attraction between them even when Harper was trying to rebuff his actions. Their chemistry was hot and definitely made them one of my favorite couples.
This whole series has been wonderful and I have honestly loved each and every hot jock. While I have enjoyed each of the guys while reading their book, there is just something about Jordie that made home my favorite. You definitely can’t go wrong with this book or series!
Never judge a book by its cover. Never assume a person is something without getting to know them. You never know the true person unless you give yourself the opportunity of finding out. Harper has sworn off hockey players mainly because of the way she was raised. Her dad is a coach and her life revolved around hockey. Her mother left them for her dad to raise her sister and herself. It wasn’t easy. Never being able to make friends because they were always moving. Never really setting down roots. Harper promised herself when she grew up she would stay clear of hockey players and concentrate on her own goals. But she didn’t know that was all going to change once she met Jordie. He won a date with her for charity but every time Jordie asked her out she refused. Afterall, he was your typical hockey player. Just like all the rest. Or so she thought. When she finally accepts to go out on a date she starts to feel that maybe she was wrong about him. Could it be that he is different than the rest. He might actually be worth getting to know.
Kendall Ryan has written this series with guys you can’t help but fall in love with but I have to say that Jordie might be my favorite of all. He is a rookie who is only looking for someone to love and be loved by. He is growing up so to speak. No longer satisfied with the puck bunnies and one night stands. He is looking for what his teammates now have. A forever relationship. He is persistent with Harper and realizes that maybe she might be the one. But could one mistake that he makes in the beginning cost him his forever or will he score the biggest goal of his life and make Harper his forever.
This was the last of the series and I was so sad to see it end, but this one wrapped everything up terrifically. Jordie may be the rookie and the youngest, and he may have acted like it at the beginning. But in this book he showed a whole other side to him I completely fell in love with him. I also really loved the sassy heroine we meet, Harper. She doesn’t let anyone stop her, except herself sometimes. The storyline was great and flowed with such ease. I really loved their communication with each other. And the epilogue wraps up all other characters and books nicely. Definitely going to miss this series.
So happy for this book, but so sad for this amazing series to be ending! Jordie & Harper had such a chemistry, even at the beginning. I loved that she was not having it at the beginning & how strong of a character she is. Jordie has such a sweet soul & I’m happy they found their way to each other in the end!
I can’t believe it’s the end of the series.
I’ve loved reading every single one of these couples and it’s pretty sad to say we won’t be seeing them again.
I really liked Jordie and Harper’s story, Jordie being the rookie of the group you get to see him grow through out the series.
Harper was funny and had this witty personality, she wasn’t afraid to put Jordie in his place and not fall at his feet.
I loved seeing the other couples and how their getting on, they’re a big group of friends and i love how close they are.
I really liked this book, kinda wanted to shake Jordie at the beginning but he was lovely!

Jordie’s story was the perfect ending for this wonderful series!!!
Taking His Shot was an entertaining and sexy story. I thought this was an excellent addition to this great series. This story is what I have come to expect from this series of books. We got to laugh, swoon, yell, and even cry a little. All the emotions you expect from a 5 star book were here!!!
As always Kendall Ryan swept me up into another set of characters lives and I love taking the journey with them. Jordie had a little bit tougher time on this journey because Harper was determined NOT to date a hockey player. I was glad to see Jordie not give up or give in on what he wanted.
This book is a complete standalone, but I would recommend reading this book last. The epilogue in this book wraps up everyones story in this series and could be a little spoilery if you haven’t read the other books. Plus this book was the perfect last book in this series and I think should be saved for last!!!!
This book is told in Dual POV. It thought the flow and pace worked well. I was happy to see Harper not be a push over and make Jordie work for what he wanted. I will say the only thing I felt was a little rushed was the ending. I thought Harper caved a little too easy. You’ll see when you read this book.
Taking His Shot is the final book in the Hot Jocks Series by Kendall Ryan. I would recommend this book/series to all romance fans out there. If you like a sports romance this series is one to read. Kendall gives us the perfect mix of emotion, hockey and love!! Read this book, you won’t be sorry!!!
AWE!!! Kendall Ryan has touched my heart with this emotional and heartwarming story!! The tenderness of their emotions had a profound effect on my own emotions! Such a wonderful, passionate, and loving book!!! My heart is full and overflowing!!
The one thing Harper has always said was that she would never date a hockey player, but when Jordie bids the highest for a date with her at a charity event, she will make him work to get that date. But Jordie will not give up. He may be a rookie, but he knows exactly what he wants and that is Harper in his life. With beautifully written characters and another fabulous storyline Kendall Ryan has proved that she not only knows hockey but also knows romance. I am so sorry to see this series end.
it was amazing
It’s all fun and and games until your asked to be the Ice Princess, by your Dad the Coach of the Ice Hawks….
Harper and Jordie’s story is a great one. It sort of reminds me of the saying “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” Or more to the point, ” don’t judge a hockey player by his stick”. What started off as a joke turns into a beautiful love story and it’s EXACTLY what I expect from Kendall Ryan
Taking His Shot is the final book in the Hot Jocks and Kendall Ryan saved one of the best for last.
Harper Allen loves her father and she begrudgingly agrees to fill in for the sick princess at the charity event for the Ice Hawks. She’s much more comfortable writing and staying out of anything that has to do with hockey. It’s dominated her life since her father has been in coaching for her entire life. She decided long ago that she would never date a hockey player. She didn’t want to have to compete with the game.
Jordan “Jordie” Prescott plays for the Ice Hawks and is one of the only unattached players remaining. He decides to bid on the date with the princess at the charity event and when he wins, his teammates decide to put a wager on whether or not he can get the woman to fall for him within a month. Jordie being Jordie takes the bet, but then he discovers who his date is actually with and that could cause all sorts of problems!
Harper wants nothing to do with the date that Jordie has paid for. He’s a hockey player and to her that is the end of the story. He finally wears her down and they have their date. Will there be others in the future or will her past with hockey put an end to what could be something great before it really gets started?
This was a fantastic way to end the series. We got a glimpse of all the other couples from the previous books along with the swoonworthy-ness that was Jordie. I loved that he went after what he wanted and that he was willing to fight for it. Harper was a great heroine as well. She had her hang-ups, but she grew as the book went along and I really enjoyed that. This was a winner in my book!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
The final book in the Hot Shots series (all linked standalones), sees rookie Jordan ‘Jordie’ Prescott bidding for and winning a date with Harper Allen, the coach’s daughter. There’s one thing for sure though. He might have won the date fair and square, but he’s going to have to work on the girl in order to actually have the date. Something that super sexy, super hot, super good looking Jordie has never had to do. Work for a date. He finds it refreshing, the fact that Harper doesn’t date, or even like hockey players. Game on. Good job he’s persistent, because yes, it eventually pays off. The question is, can he convince the girl that he’s not like every other athlete out there? What a wonderful, sweet read, with two beautiful hearts, both in need of love and affection, neither realising the fact. My heart broke for Jordie, he was so compassionate completely putting his heart on the line. I loved getting to catch up with all my previous book boyfriends and their partners. What a wonderful bunch they are. I’m truly going to miss this series. I love Kendal Ryan’s stories, her writing, and her characters. Hot hockey players and smart, feisty, strong willed women. An addictive sports romance. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
4.5 Taking His Shot Stars
Jordie is at a Hockey Charity event where he wins a date with the stunning Harper, who also happens to be Coach’s daughter
Harper doesn’t date Hockey players and sticks to her “rules” religiously….that is until a sweet, sexy and gorgeous hockey player convinces her otherwise with his stalking methods
A really sweet story and I enjoyed catching up with what was happening in all Jordie’s teammates lives
Great story about a rookie hockey player who makes a bet that the coaches daughter will fall for him. Instead he falls totally for her and the bet comes back to bite him. Then he has to figure out how he’s going to fix the relationship he desperately wants
I’m always sad to see the end of a series but this one went out with a bang because Jordie and Harper were so much fun. Owen and Becca have been my absolute favorite couple through the series but this couple is just as good. Harper had a rough childhood thanks to hockey. Her dad’s career in the NHL required sacrifices her whole life: frequent moves that meant she could never put down roots or make true friends and she always had to share him with his teams. She has vowed that hockey will not touch her life again in any way and the cardinal rule for keeping her promise is to never date a hockey player.
Jordie is immediately enthralled with the cagey beauty and her resistance to his charm just makes him want her more. Harper doesn’t make it easy on him, but he’s not one to shy away from a challenge. I loved their banter, especially in the beginning, when she really wanted him to just go away. He’s persistent and charming, so she can’t help falling for him, even if he is a hockey player. Their chemistry is insane but more importantly, Jordie isn’t the cocky jock she expected, he’s sweet and funny and vulnerable. Harper eventually realizes she needs to let go of her rule and see where this goes since she likes him so much.
The ending felt a bit rushed, which is a little disappointing, but I did like it. The ending was good but there could have been another chapter or two in there to give us a bit more insight. I really enjoyed seeing where all the couples are now and loved the epilogue, I just wish there was more. The whole series is fun and will probably get read again because I really loved the characters and enjoyed every book.
I have really enjoyed this series
So reading Taking His Shot was so bittersweet,as this is the last book in this series and I am going to miss these guys.
This is a romance between rookie Jordie and the coaches daughter Harper.
What starts off as just a bet, turns into something real,to the surprise of both Jordie and Harper.Because harper does NOT date Hockey players, she has a vendetta against them, and such a bad opinion of them. But Jordie seems different and edges his way into Harper’s heart and she thinks she may have to rethink her opinions of Hockey players.
Jordie is instantly attracted to Harper and wins a date with her through a charity auction, but being known as an ice queen his Hockey team mates place bets on if Jordie can get Harper to fall in love with him.Big Mistake Jordie agreeing to this bet can only bring heart ache.
This was a fantastic story that I really adored reading it .
It’s so so good and I Highly recommend it.
Wonderful 5 Stars .
I loved this entire series. Each story is a stand alone, however all of the stories involve teammates on a pro sports team. Each couple has their journey, their obstacles to overcome and their chance at a HEA. I LOVED all of these books. I read them each in less than 24hrs and purchased each one as soon as it came out.
Love hockey romances Kendall Ryan is one of my favorite authors and never disappoints All books in the hot kicks series are great!
Another swoon-worthy hockey player who knew what he wanted and went after it…and determined.
