He’s in love with his best friend. She’s dating his number one suspect. What could go wrong? Harmony Brose can’t stop fantasizing about her best friend. After a few drinks, she took a risk. She asked Chase to kiss her. It was the best kiss of her life. Until he jumped up and left, breaking her heart. Officer Chase Harvey had thought about kissing Harmony for years but never crossed that … for years but never crossed that line until that night. Fearing Harmony was drunk, he had to cut it off until he was sure she truly wanted him. Apparently she didn’t, because Harmony just started dating the new man in town.
Chase doesn’t have time to waste on regrets. A woman vanished from their small town and he’ll do whatever is necessary to solve the case. When evidence points to the new man, Chase must follow the lead. It has nothing at all to do with the fact the man is dating Harmony…
Now he has to decide. Is he willing to risk losing the woman he loves in order to protect her?

I received this book in advance for a voluntary honest review. This is book 2 in the Dare to Surrender series, the story of Harmony and Chase. Best friends since grade school, they’ve always shared everything, once feelings start to change to more than friendship, neither knows if they want to risk that friendship. On the night of Harmony’s birthday, they spend the night at Chase’s house after celebrating with friends, like many times before, and share his bed. Harmony ask Chase if he ever thought about kissing her, and Chase definitely has, so gives in and kisses her and sparks fly. Still worried about ruining the friendship or that she might be too drunk to remember the kiss and conversation, Chase doesn’t bring up the kiss and neither does Harmony. These two friends can’t seem to get their act together and realize they really are meant to be together. Mystery, murder, jealousy, humor, romance, steaminess and a great plot make this an awesome book to read. I definitely recommend reading the first book in the series, Chasing Her Trust, but this can be read as a stand alone.
You’ll Never Know Unless You Ask….
Wow he knew saying something would probably be received badly but not saying something just wasn’t his nature.
Harmony didn’t need to act like the bar was about to run dry.
Chase didn’t want to deal with the blonde barracuda making a beeline for him they’d had a beneficial relationship for a while but he ended it for lack of interest and now she was getting a little too friendly for my peace of mind until Harmony came charging in to rescue me.
It was getting late and everything was winding down he never expected to be hit by a simple question.
Months… And months later and he still couldn’t bring himself to ask if she even remembered that night.
Wow there’s no shortage of missed opportunities and confusing interactions between Chase and Harmony they’ll bare themselves to other friends but can’t seem to have an honest talk between each other however I can seriously see a certain detective’s eschewed point of view besides he really gets a kick out of his colleague floundering around like a fish on dry dock.
But there’s quite a few moments I wished someone had simply introduce the two of them to some tough love.
Nevertheless there’s that one moment finally when their both on the same page and even have that long awaited talk about what actually happened that night.
But then there’s the two schmucks who’s arrived in town adds much confusion and many complications.
Nevertheless with his super spidey senses kicking into overdrive will Chase be able to find what he needs to figure just what’s been going on in their town
or will he be to late to stop another tragedy.
I love Chase and Harmony! Such a great friendship, but even a better love – once they learn to trust each other.
A bit of mystery, and a lot of romance, with a little angst – makes this story perfect.
Fantastic!
Taking Her Chase is the second book in the Dare to Surrender series by Danielle Pays. This is another of the author’s books that is a fantastic read. The story of Detective Nick Moore and Lauren is a page turner that had me sucked in deep quickly and did not spit me back out until the end. There were a few times along that that that I rolled my eyes with their push/pull relationship but finally they got on the same side of things. Then add in murder, threats, mystery, drama, a small town where nothing happens until it does and making assumptions when you really shouldn’t all woven into a well written and entertaining story.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Wow this is such a great storyline well written with twists and turns and mystery with the added bonus of the revealing romantic feelings between best friends Chase and Harmony. The storyline flowed smoothly from beginning to the end.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
3.5 Stars
Taking Her Chase is the second title in the Dare to Surrender series.
It’s a friends to lovers romance with Chase and Harmony having bee best friends since middle school. Their relationship is plagued by misunderstandings and miscommunications, which makes for an angsty romance.
There is an element of intrigue and suspense, but I still felt like I was missing information, as this was my first time reading Danielle Pays I haven’t read the previous title Chasing Her Trust, which may have made elements of the story line make more sense.
Overall an enjoyable book.

Dare to Surrender book 2. Chase and Harmony have been best friends since childhood and with 1 kiss everything changes. Of course, that kiss was when they were both pretty drunk on Harmony’s birthday. Then they both act like nothing ever happened and it takes the two of them 10 months to start figuring things out. There is suspense, romance, and hot sex along with a HEA ending. You need to read this one.
I received this book in advance for a voluntary honest review. I really enjoyed Chase and Harmony! On Harmony’s birthday, she asks if Chase ever thought about kissing her. Which he has, so he does. They don’t talk about the kiss after and now 10 months have gone by with no mention. They dance around their feelings for each other, remaining best friends. Finally they surrender to their feelings and realize that they are meant for one another and have been in love for a long time. This book also includes a mystery that when solved at the end you see that you could predict pieces of it, but not fully. I was surprised in the end and overall enjoyed the book. I would definitely recommend this book.
