What’s a girl to do when an insanely hot guy wants more than a one night stand?BeauI’m not here for a good time, I’m here for a short time.I need to get this family stuff sorted, then get back to my life.I normally can’t stand being home, that’s until I see Payton.Granny panties poking out from her pants, her hair all a tangled mess … then she opens her sassy mouth. She’s the only reason I’d … all a tangled mess … then she opens her sassy mouth.
She’s the only reason I’d want to stay.
A chance to finally get one bite. One lick.
One taste of Payton.
I just know she’ll be delicious.
Payton
I’ve sunk everything I have into making this dream a reality.
And no cocky farm boy, wearing tight jeans, and a sexy smile is going to change that.
But boy can he smooth talk.
I could give him one night… Or two.
It’s about time I scratch the itch I’ve been meaning to get to.
The only problem is my hearts under lock and key and not up for the taking.
Or is it?

Taking Charge – Meet the McIntyres Book #1 by Rebecca Barber
I was given this book for an honest and unbiased review.
Another fabulous read from Rebecca Barber who has introduced us to a whole new collection of her wonderful characters in this new series – Meet the McIntyres.
This first in series, centres on Beau McIntyre, the eldest sibling in the McIntyre family. Beau has reluctantly returned to his family home, a farm in the country, unsure of why he really needs to come back, other than his younger brother calling him to return. He’s lived his life in the city, partying, playing and working far from his country roots and barely giving any thought to where he came from.
Payton is the town baker, owning and operating Sweet Indulgence. She’s a bit of a loner but her two best friends, Mia & Josie keep her from slipping into a chocolate coma or a dark depression. You might remember Mia and Josue from Rebecca’s previous series Finding Your Place, which crosses over with this one.
You see, Payton has run from a life that was not her own and is determined to be in control of her own destiny. But in a small country town, there’s not much time for romance and barely enough time to socialise but after having her heart ripped out by her ex-fiancé, she’s not prepared to gamble with her emotions any more.
These two characters have an immediate and striking attraction on their first meeting and the heat only increases between them with every following chapter. The family connections and the secrets that they share all add up to a wonderful story, one that will please any reader who enjoys a good family drama but with the added heat of a delicious relationship driven story.
With more fabulous stories to come from the other McIntyre siblings, Connor, Gage, Ryan and Holly, Rebecca Barber has set this new series on the right path for success and a wonderfully heartfelt and passionate series of stories.
My first book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Payton has run from a disastrous relationship and doesn’t feel worthy of finding love again. Beau returns to town to sort out his parents’ mess.
These two have a sizzling connection and I enjoyed their journey. Did she really want emotionless sex or would she fall for this guy?
Great small town, family and friends drama and romance.
This book was fun, I loved all the extra characters and look forward to their stories too.

Payton is the town baker but is kind of new to town from a recent break-up >–< >–< >–< >–< >–<>–< >–< >–< >–< >–< >–< >–< >–< What I liked/Didn’t Like: very through backstory for both the characters in this book. It was very well written and easy to follow the storyline. I hope to see more of them in the next book to find out what the future has in store for them
Starting Over
I loved these two. So much passion between them. Neither were looking forward to starting over, but once they found eachother, starting a new future was exactly what they needed.
Beau’s back home after years away. He never wanted to come back, but when his brother called he went.
The home he grew up in is in ruin. The farm is completely run down. Nothing is like he remembered. The biggest shock of all is his family.
Payton picked up her life and started over six months ago. After a broken engagement, she needed a fresh start. Opening her own bakery and guarding her heart is her daily life. She’s determined not to open her heart again or get close to anyone, because they leave you.
Beau and Payton meet and sparks fly. She is an adorable disaster. Anytime she runs into Beau an unfortunate accident or embarrassing situation arises. Fortunately Beau finds it all endearing. He’s just trying to save what’s left of his family’s legacy.
Beau’s never wanted a relationship and Payton was just looking to scratch an itch. Somehow they just kept finding one another when they most needed a connection. And when both experience defining life moments, hooking up was no longer enough.
There is definitely more to this story. It seems like everyone has their secrets. I am off to read book two get more of my McIntyre fix!
Taking charge is one of those books that just make you feel good, don’t get me wrong it has it’s moments of soul crushing sadness where you say ” this poor girl has had a crappy hand dealt to her” but the underliying feeling of happiness I had throughout the whole book was a rarity for me.
Payton has a hard time accepting herself, and therefore doesn’t see how anyone else could like her.
Beau is the original love ’em and leave ’em ladies’ man.
When they meet and the sparks fly it has them both rethinking their choices.
Now I have to sit back and patiently (ok maybe not so patiently) for book two which judging by how book one left off will be amazing.
This is a new to me author, but after some research, I’ve found she has quite a few books out. This one was released in October of 2017. She is from Australia, and that is where this book takes place. This is the first in a series, and follows a family of siblings as they find love. Although this book is about Beau, we are introduced to most of the other siblings, and several other quirky side characters.
Taking Charge begins with Beau, who lives in Sidney, but is called home to the family farm by his younger brother, when his father begins having trouble. He comes home and runs into Payton, who owns the local bakery. Payton, at the time, is also having some problems, although hers are mostly self confidence issues following a bad break up. Although this isn’t an insta-love story, there is an instant attraction between Beau and Payton. I like how, in this story, Payton’s issues are magically cured by meeting Beau, and she has to actually work through them. It gives the story a sense of reality. I enjoyed Payton. She is funny, quirky, and seems like someone I could totally relate to. Beau is a total man’s man, but has a softer side. He is exactly what Payton needs to come to terms with her past. I love how accepting he is of all of the many sides of Payton, even through her confusion.
This story is well written, the characters are well developed and very realistic. I enjoyed the character interactions, and how the ups and downs, twists and turns, kept me guessing about what was coming next. I can’t wait to see what happens next for the McIntyres!
