An investigator who knows tragic loss firsthand, and his new client, missing far too long…Abducted at the age of sixteen and coerced into assisting the Jacoby crime family, Shannon Bliss has finally found a way out. She desperately wants to resume some semblance of normal life, but she also knows she has some unfinished business to attend to. She might have enough evidence to put her captors … her captors behind bars for a very long time.
When Shannon contacts private investigator Matthew Dane, a former cop, to help her navigate her reentry into society, he quickly discovers that gaining her freedom doesn’t mean her troubles are over. If the Jacoby family learns she is still alive, they’ll stop at nothing to silence her.
If justice is to be done, and if Shannon’s life is ever to get on track again, Matthew will need to discover exactly what happened to her–even if it means stirring up a hornet’s nest of secrets.

This is a very compelling story, Shannon is a very interesting and unpredictable character…smart and cunning, and Matthew is the perfect compliment to her! Great read!!
Not really wonderful!
Suspense without the gore. Tragedy turned a life of promise . Great easy read.
Very engaging. Kept away from bad violence and horror but a good mystery and adventure.
Love Dee Henderson’s books. Never let you down
I always enjoy Dee Henderson books as she has interesting characters and relationships. She also weaves their relationship with the Lord into the stories. The story lines are interesting usually with suspense and realistic drama.
I’ve read it twice and it keeps your attention. Really enjoy this author, this book.
Love the character building and the story line.
I was unable to put this down as I just wanted to know what would happen next, and next and next. I shed a tear or two. Love reading DeeH
Dee Henderson is always great
I was disappointed in the ending. Could not find if this was a series.
My favorite Henderson novel to date.
Enjoyed reading this book.
It was such an unusual book. I never thought about abduction scenarios and the impact on the victims. I enjoyed learning something I knew nothing about. I love the depth of the characters, the depth of emotions and a strong, empathetic man. A very good read.
Great book couldn’t put it down
Loved the book until the end! I was so disappointed in the way this story ended. I expected so much better after reading the book until the end.
Dee Henderson is always a favorite!
I love Dee Henderson’s books but this one was so amazing. The book was so original that I wondered all the way through “How did she come up with the premise of the book?” Someone kidnapped comes back to her old life and helps the FBI break up a family of child abductors and art thieves. I think I would enjoy reading this book over and over again.
This book opened my eyes to the brutality of after people taken return. It’s far more than counseling and a new norm – really well written and informative – and Dee Henderson is a master of stories!
Dee always does a great job to keep me reading!
