MiariBlue skin. Seven feet. Strapped with corded muscle, the aliens have come again but this time, their king is here and he’s watching me with hunger.A hybrid with red alien skin and brown human eyes, I’ve got no family and am not desired by colony men. I’m an inventor, a mechanic, a tinkerer. The alien king seeks to claim me, but he’ll have to find me first.Our little colony is a scary, … first.
Our little colony is a scary, desperate place and I’m willing to meet it head on if it means escaping him and the alien sensations he stirs deep in my gut, where light and truth cannot touch them.
Raku
She is my Xiveri mate, yet she runs from me – straight into the horrors of her savage moon colony. Does she not know that I would slaughter in her defense?
Nox, she does not.
My brilliant hybrid thinks herself a slave – my slave – and in place of acceptance, offers me only pacts and bargains. Shamed by her pacts, I still take them all gluttonously, because she is mine – my hybrid, my Xiveri mate, Voraxia’s queen and mine to worship.
Taken to Voraxia is a full-length (95k words) SciFi alien romance and book 1 in a 9-book (+1 novella!) series. Xiveri Mates books come with a guaranteed HEA. Books 3 and 6 feature Xiveri Mates from outside of the Voraxian constellation, while the rest are best read in sequential order. YES for alpha alien overlords, warrior heroines, fated mates who are also enemies-to-lovers, action and violent battles, world-building and extra steam. NO for abuse, dubcon, noncon, cheating, menage, harem or love triangles. Subjugation of human women is an early theme in book 1 and, while it ends spectacularly, may be a trigger for sensitive readers.

“I worship you, my universe. My Miari.”
~~~
Miari is so awesome! She’s so pragmatic, reasonable and witty. Even more, I loved her selflessness and strength to overcome everything thrown her way. She’s absolutely amazing and I loved her so much!
Xoran is the Raku, the overlord of the Voraxian star system. He’s strong, honorable, possessive and fiercely protective. Most of all, I loved his determination to right all the wrongs his people had caused. I loved everything about this male!
I absolutely adored the development of their relationship. Both had to overcome a lot of cultural differences and learn to trust each other. I loved how Miari was willing to give Xoran a chance despite everything happening between the two races. And Xoran was so caring, thoughtful and patient with her. And both grew so much throughout the story! Miari and Xoran were a fantastic match and their chemistry was amazing and off-the-charts hot!
In addition, the worldbuilding was phenomenal. I loved the vivid details, the different alien races and cultures. And the storyline kept me glued to the pages till the very end.
Overall, the story is a marvellous read filled with fast-paced action, danger, twists, steamy romance and magnificent characters.
I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to see what the next story will bring!
This is the second book by this author I’ve read and again got to say the world-building here is absolutely phenomenal.
I actually started this series backwards reading book three first which is set in the same universe but is also a complete standalone that book blew me away and this one definitely didn’t disappoint either.
Book three did have a slight edge for me in terms of my overall enjoyment but this first book came a very close second to it.
The vivid descriptions and the way this enveloped me within the story itself was just brilliant and even with all the alien names and terminology it just enriched the entire experience for me.
So in this first book in the series, Miari is a hybrid human living on a remote moon of Voraxia.
All females of age have to participate in a barbaric practice called the hunt a pact made between the human council and the Dra’Kesh in return they keep the barrier up to shield the humans from the savage beasts that roam there home-world.
The time for this selection has again arrived and the human settlement has been brought to the attention of Raku the leader of Voraxia.
Recognising that the small human hybrid is his Xiveri mate His future Rakukanna he fights his own instincts to instantly claim her giving her the rotation she asks for which is three years to prepare before he returns to claim her.
Not realising straight away the extent of the deception played on him by one of his own or the fear and ignorance of his new mate Raku or Xoran (which is his given name) faces an uphill battle one where he will have to build trust and bridges along the way.
So this was excellent and really well done both Miari and Xoran were very likeable individuals.
I liked how reasonable and pragmatic Miari was how she was willing to give Xoran a chance when she realised his ignorance of her people’s plight, she wasn’t a drama queen and I quite liked that about her.
Xoran was a product of his culture and with his new mate, he learned to really feel and though he initially struggled with his emotions feeling them a weakness I did like how he swiftly evolved from this overcoming and realising that there bond and connection together only made them both stronger.
I also appreciated that though he felt his position prevented him from apologising directly he did try to make amends and was utterly disgusted and enraged at what had befallen the humans under his watch and also determined to set things right.
There was a great deal of cultural differences to overcome with this one and this also has a lot of setup as well for what’s to come in future books I’m interested to see where that goes.
Oh and I adored how Xoran’s people showed their internal emotions with all the changing colours on there face ridges that really was such an imaginative touch.
Overall this one is definitely a cut above the usual sci-fi romance and it definitely stands out from the crowd.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Taken to Voraxia (Xiveri Mates #1)
Where has she been all my life? Another great author has been discovered. Really there are too many of you and so many wonderful books waiting to be read! And I will never be able to get to them all! Wah! But this story – OMGosh is splendiferous! A new language; new people groups; new planetary systems. Elizabeth brought her A-game when creating this world, these people and this amazing love story!
Second time through and I’m still in awe. I have to say, though, that after reading some real dud love scenes in other books, I was grateful to read something original. Thanks, Elizabeth, for bringing sexy back!
Your different from others in your village, taller, with bright red skin and a tail witch makes you stand out! One day, during a familiar, yet scary ritual, you find the love of your life…and your life is changed forever. Elizabeth Stephens has written a book called “Taken To Voraxia” where a woman of alien origins experiences all this and love is found in a most unusual way.
A fantastic, imaginative word has been created by Stephens within the pages of her book. Her creativity makes the world she has created come to life in vivid detail! Passion rolls through the story, drawing the readers into an richly intimate relationship that emerges between main characters.
This is a space romance novel sure to please Sci-Fi fans and anyone who loves steamy romance stories!
Great start to this series.
Xoran is the Raku, overlord of his star system. After questioning the use of energy in a previously unvisited moon, he travels with his underlord to fully investigate. What he uncovers is not only an inhabited moon with sentient beings, but his own Rakukanna. His Xiveri mate.
Miari hates the aliens who come every 3 years to force to participate in the ‘Hunt’. Will she be able to get beyond her fear and hate to see what is shing for her alone in the Raku’s eyes?
The world building is killer in this book. I can see it as the words describe. I liked the history the first chapters establish because you understand Miari’s level of distrust and what it takes to get past it.
The characters are well written and I look forward to reading future books.
Romance and adventure. Everything I love in a scifi romance.
This was a pleasant surprise of a book. I was expecting a pretty standard SF Romance with an alien hero and a human heroine but there was some surprisingly good world-building and society building tucked in, between the romance. I loved that Raku/Xoran was genuinely appalled once he became aware of the way Miari’s colony of humans was abused by one of his under-commanders, and how determined he was to put the colony under his protection and right the wrongs that had been done to them. Miari was a worthy partner and it was great to see her match him in wits and in strength. My only niggle, and the reason this gets 4 rather than 5 stars is that there was a bit too much sex for me. The plot, setting, world-building and the characters were all great and I kind of resented taking time away from them to throw in additional sex scenes. However, I’m definitely looking forward to reading more in this series.
This is an interesting story. It does have some brutality referred to in it, but not the actual happening. Our main character is only half human who luckily has good friends. I loved the characters. The aliens were a little harder to understand, but… they are ALIENS. I enjoyed the story. It was entertaining. I would recommend the book.
I must have more!
What a story, like I said, I must read the next one!
May have triggers for some as it involves rape and abduction.
Strong characters. HEA.
This book was so good, great start to the series. Raku aka Xoran is the leader, and decides to figure out why power is going to one of their little moons….he gets a bit of a reality check when he finds out there is a human village with potential Xiveri mates in it. His included, which is crucial
because his people have few females, and many cannot conceive. He also finds out that one of his top people have been terrorizing the village women. Well he, and many of his men, it’s quite tragic. At least I consider it terrorizing. So, his Xiveri mate doesn’t really understand or recognize their bond. Since she is not quite of age, he leaves her to return at a later date. But when he returns, he has to hunt her down, not a great start. I am sure you can imagine their early struggles, he adores her, is patient with her, and understands their mate bond, but she struggles because of the perception of his people. And with word getting out about the human women on the moon…you can bet they attracted a lot of attention.
Safe read….mates. They’re kinda cute in that they both had never kissed anyone before…awwwwwe. Quite a bit of action. This is a great storyline, and a great series. Yes, I already binge read the whole series. If you are a sci-fi romance reader, then this series is your next book crack fix. You are welcome.
great read
I recommend this book…9-23-2020
This book sets a great foundation for the series. Very detailed new worlds and species. There were lots of twists and turns. The villains are very crafty which keeps the story interesting to the end! On to book two!
Very interesting science fiction romance.
Essentially the story is about the meeting of two different cultures – the hybrids and the Voraxians. The hybrids are rare and they are a mix of humans and aliens. Miari fears the Voarxians and her fear is not completely misplaced.
But then Raku, the king of the Varoxians is not like the other people of his species and he finds his mate in Miari. He takes Miari to his own planet in an attempt to explain to her the life of the Voraxians and getting her to accept him.
The description of the story was amazing. The different characters, their activities and the planets were described to an amazing level which was lovely to read about. Raku was definitely a great leader and a lover and I found myself rooting for him.
Over all enjoyed the romance.
I really enjoyed this book. I also liked how even after miara gets her translator alien words are still mixed in. There’s a good balance of character growth, world building and the H&H trying to get past cultural differences and misunderstandings. Hexa, more please!
I grabbed this book when it was recommended by a friend. So glad I did!
I absolutely devoured this story. Packed with action, wit, chemistry and a surprising amount of emotion. It’s a fantastically intricate storyline with Beau world building. I was so sad when it ended and can’t wait for more from this author.
