I received this book free for an honest review and I really enjoyed it. I didn’t know what to expect with this book I didn’t know if it was going to pick up right back up were Feral ended with Jai being the main character instead of Maya. This book takes place several years after the first book so it could be read without reading the first book you would just be missing some of the history and I believe enough of it is explained in this book. I enjoy books like this where each book can stand on its own so if you’re like me in that aspect you will enjoy this book. The summary of this book made me think that it would start three years down the road and that it you would just catch glimpses of what happened between the main characters in the past instead of experiencing it. I was so wrong it starts with them meeting and then when it gets almost halfway through the book time jumps forward three years. I like this better because I don’t like it when a book starts in the future and has flashbacks or explaining chapters to catch you up I like to experience the story first hand from beginning to end so I really enjoyed the way the author wrote this book. I enjoyed seeing how Jai and Aria interacted at the beginning of their journey and I really enjoyed the anticipation of waiting to see how their next encounter would be after the three years and how everything would turn out. The anticipation just kept me reading I had to know what would happen.
Check out my review on Laxmi Hariharan’s new “Taken” from her Many Lives Series. Great new take on a Dystopian Society.
This third installment of the series is about Jai and Ariana. Jai was briefly introduced in Feral, and we eventually learned he is Maya’s brother and Ruby’s son. Jai has his own set of complications that stem more from his relationship to his father Vik, his uncle Vishal, and his promise to protect the city his mother loved. Jai meets Ariana and immediately there is a forbidden love budding between them. Though neither will admit, they are unable to ignore the strong attraction between them. To make matter worse, Aria makes Jai question his loyalty to his family and the promise he made to his dying mother.
CAN’T GET ENOUGH!!
Easy to follow, action packed, fascinating whirl wind of a world in which lies are revealed and secrets exposed. A well written story that has a unique quality that keeps you coming back for more. You don’t who you can trust or if your enemy is your best friend. I fell in love with this series and I know if you pick up a copy you won’t put it down until your finished. I read it 3 times already and have every intention of doing so for a ling ling time. I can’t wait for the full story, that’ll be Christmas morning for me because I’ll have my series and a cup of coffee huddled down for my reading fest. A great work of art Laxmi. You have me hooked.
Taken is book 1 in the Many Lives series. There is also a prequel. All three books are worth reading. Each book is a standalone but also the storyline follows from one book to the next. Laxmi Hariharan does a superb job of telling this story through the eyes of the main characters, Ariana and Jai. Enjoy this book and the entire story by reading the rest of the series. Filled with suspense and action.
Another great addition to the series!
