This book took me places I never saw coming. I’ve read every book by Logan Chance, and yes every time I say.. “This is my favorite book of his” but….With Taken Logan has by far exceeded any expectations I had. I can’t recommend this book enough, his writing is phenomenal it’s like every word he writes turns to gold, Logan has been an auto buy author from his very first book and with each new one you see the growth in his writing.
Taken is very different from Logan’s other books , yet he mastered this story to perfection ,literally a masterpiece , his characters are so real that I felt everything they were going through and I totally fell in love with them both.
Rhiannon and Xavier have been friends since early childhood facing so many obstacles from her hateful mafia father who did everything to keep them apart.
I read this book in one sitting and was glued from the prologue (which grabbed me right in ) there was so many plot twists and turns at times I felt myself literally holding my breath yelling “Nooooo” then in true Logan style parts had me laughing then needing the air conditioner from some of the hottest steamiest sex scenes I’ve read.
You’ve seen from the synopsis what the story is about so I’m not going to get into any more because in no way do I want to ruin anything, I will tell you this though …. this story will keep you guessing from beginning till end. It will have you gasping, wondering and totally surprised . Yes it’s a mafia romance, but, “It’s a different kind of Mafia” just the right amount of angst, twists turns and so much more.
I highly recommend everyone run out and grab this book ASAP, if you’ve never read a book from this author “What are you waiting for?” You will not be disappointed.
Thank you Logan for once again giving us another phenomenal read I have already re read this more times then I’d like to admit and I can honestly say “I see this being a favorite read for me this year”
Unbelievably Scorching Hot!
When we decided as a group to re-read Taken, I forgotten how hot Xavier Stone was. Each book of Logan Chance can set off the fire alarm, as they are scorching hot! I kick myself after realizing I never wrote a review sooner. My hats off as this book was a Mafia book, but with Romcom moments which I love. There is never a dull moment, and I loved it from start to finish. This book is definitely beyond a five star rating. Oh and just an fyi, this book is NSFW.
I love this dark mafia romance from an author normally known for his rom-com style. The chemistry between Rhi and Xavier was so completely on fire I could not put the book down until they found their HEA. The mafia theme was definitely gripping, so it was like reading a thriller mixed with smokin’ hot passion. The ending was a little over the top for me, but still wonderfully entertaining. I’m looking forward to more of Logan’s “dark side” in the future!
Rhiannon is the only child of a mafia boss in Chicago and Xavier, the maid’s son, is her best and only friend. 10 years after his mother dies they meet up again in his plan for revenge against her father.
I liked how this story took you through their childhood to help build a base for their characters. The 10 year reunion involves kidnapping, extortion, rekindling of a teenage love and much more.
The only really negative thing is some glaringly obvious spelling errors.
I’ve read a couple of books by Logan Chance. This is my fave so far!
My oh my , this book was so good that I couldn’t put it down. There was just something about the way you wrote it that kept us on the edge of our seats and then to finally get to the ending and say. “About damn time”. With each book you write I fall in more love with how you write. It takes a great man with your creative mind to write the way you do. I can truthful say I’m a huge fan. Please continue doing what you do best. I happily give it 5+ stars on this book
This book is a perfect example of why Logan Chance is one of my favorite one-click authors. Taken is the explosive story of mafia princess Rhiannon DeLaurio and the maid’s son Xavier Stone. These two share a past that neither can quite forget. The chemistry between Xavier and Rhiannon was explosive. Taken had everything I love in a good romance – strong characters, a little mystery, just the right amount of angst and steamy sex. Their story kept me flipping page after page waiting to see what happened to these two. Could these two friends find the life they could only dream of or is it all the ultimate revenge? You’ll have to read to find out.
Twists, turns and a whole lot of steaminess
I’m going to start out by saying that I am not a fan of Mafia romance novels. So much so that I wasn’t going to read this book straight away – despite loving Logan Chnace’s previous novel Heartbreaker – but the more teasers I read, the more arc readers raves about it, I figured I’d give it a chance. And I am so very glad I did.
Taken is so much more than a Mafia romance – it’s a beautiful friends to lovers story, it’s a heartbreaking journey of hurt and the desire for revenge, it’s a book that will grip you from the prologue and you will not be able to put it down! Xavier and Rhiannon were childhood friends. Rhiannon is the daughter of a mob boss and Xavier is the maid’s son. An unlikely duo, the bond these two share is clear and it’s obvious that even from a young age Xavier wants to do anything to take Rhiannon away from the life she has been born into. But when tragedy strikes and Xavier leaves Rhiannon’s life, you wonder if they’ll ever see each other … and when they do meet again, it’s definitely not long-lost friends catching up for coffee.
Logan has a way with words that draws you in. His characterisation of both Xavier and Rhiannon is spot on and never contrived. The background stories of these two leads is fleshed out and the chemistry between the two is hot And the storyline will make your jaw drop. There were so many twists and turns I did not see coming and that’s what I loved about the book. I like being shocked, I like when I can’t guess what’s coming and I LOVE when a story is so hard to put down – and Taken ticks all these boxes.
I’m looking forward to reading Logan Chance’s back catalogue but I’m especially intrigued by what he brings out next (Dean and Krista’s story perhaps!!?). A brilliant romance novel that has shown me its not about the genre, it’s about the author – if you find a fabulous author then you’ll love their work, no matter what genre they write in!!
Wow… I have yet to be disappointed by a book by Logan Chance- a quick gripping read that will have you guessing all the way til the end.
Rhiannon the daughter of well known controlling mobster.
Xavier the son of a single mother who grows up on the grounds with a little girl who he promised to one day save.
“It took me a lifetime to fall in love, and a moment to fall out”
After suffering a heartbreaking lose Xavier Stone sets out on a plan to destroy the one who is responsible but, will his plan cost him the girl he made promises to?
Rhiannon a girl that has it all except her freedom… Forced into a situation that she is determined to get out of by one who should protect her.
This story has everything from love to lose, heartbreak and kidnapping, death and justice but at what price?
Taken is a mafia romance, like no other. The story of Rhiannon and Xavier is a true love story, starting out in their childhoods since they were born. Rhiannon and Xavier were best friends, they did everything together. Until one night change it all. For ten years they have not seen one another, until Xavier kidnaps her to get revenge.
I loved this story so much. I loved that you got to be apart of their journey. How they grew up together and how they parted. The most enjoyable thing that was shared was crucial parts of their past, not half the book dragging you endlessly, just enough information to make the story perfect. Rhiannon is a feisty auburn hair woman, that is almost broken in a way, making you feel bad that she always seems like a doormat in other people’s eyes. Xavier the strong broody guy, set on revenge with good reason, has you questioning his motives. As always the chemistry of the couple is always hot and you will not be disappointed even though the characters fight their feelings. If you haven’t read this one, make sure you do. It was a lovely heartwarming story of two people that love each other that are thrown unexpectedly on opposing sides.
Really cool book.
3,5 stars
First things first, just to clarify, this book is now named Taken By My Best Friend (really accurate).
Rhiannon and Xavier were best friends their whole childhood, until he leaves after a tragedy without so much as a goodbye. Years later, they are finally reunited, but under the craziest circumstance: he kidnaps her.
There were a lot of secrets and deception while Xavier seeks revenge against Rhiannon’s father, a huge mobster. And as they tried to reconcile the feelings they had for each other so many years ago and that just came to the surface full force, Xavier and Rhi starred some really sexy times.
I felt like there were some gaps here and there, but I enjoyed the book.
“Things change. Sometimes not for the better.” First time reading Logan Chance. Won’t be the last. This was a great story and an emotional rollercoaster. Couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to start the next one.
LOVED this book! Logan pulls you right in from the start and the drama and suspense keep you on the edge of your seat until the end.
4.5 Stars
For me, Logan Chance’s book, Taken (by my Best Friend), was completely engaging. I am rarely able to take the time to read from cover to cover in one sitting, but I wanted to with this book.
Technically, this is a Mafia Romance. The heroine is a “mafia princess,” the only daughter of a cruel, malicious mob boss. Her father uses and manipulates everyone around him. He has no conscience. She has been his pawn all her life. In childhood, her best and only friend is the maid’s son, Xavier. He is probably the only thing that makes her young life bearable. It was heart-breaking to watch them being torn apart as teens, and almost as heart-rending when Xavier comes back into her life ten years later because it seems he is now a cold-hearted bastard who only wants her as his pawn. It’s so sad that she’s never known freedom or control over her own life.
The story was part sweet and charming, part angst and suspense, part sizzling hot lava. The book is a little on the dark side, but not black. It’s more like light-to-medium dark. There are a couple of overtly violent scenes, but most of the violence is implied not narrated. Not so with the love scenes—thankfully! I will say this author definitely knows how to bring the heat! Chance also wrote some unexpected turns into the plot that I enjoyed being surprised by as the suspense built. And as for what happened at the end, just call it a bombshell. It astonished me. I had to read through it twice to be sure of the mindf#@k the author delivered! I’m going on now to read the next book, Married to My Enemy.
TAKEN BY MY BEST FRIEND by Logan Chance
While doing a reread of the series in preparation for the 4th release I am not sure how I skipped this book. I bought it, looked forward to reading it and failed to read it until now! It is excellent! I loved Xavier and Rhiannon and their story. Logan is a proven champion of RomCom, but is so very good at the darker stuff too. This is a 5 star read.
This might be my favorite Logan books. Xavier and Rhiannon have a great story. Xavier is so protective over her even as a child. This book has everything you could want in a book: comedy, romance, suspense and wedgies. The wedgie was genius.
Love this Author!! He has a wonderful written library of amazing work.
Have you ever been so fond of a story that it renders you speechless? That’s, Taken. Logan is a mastermind at storytelling. He had me drawn in and held captive until the very end. Taken is a heart-warmingly developed story with lots of twists and turns. I absolutely adored Xavier and Rhiannon. They compliment each other. Their love is built on friendship and trust. The dialogue between the two is amazingly well-written. That’s really all you want out of a story. Definitely a must-read!
NOTE: This is my second time reading Taken. I gave it 5 stars the first time but didn’t take the time to review it. If I could give it more stars with my review, I would.
Logan Chance you have done it again
What a rollercoaster you have taken us on with this one.
I must also point out that this was one hot, sexy read. Totally needed a cold shower after this one.
The relationship between Xavier and Rhi was gorgeous.
The friendship and trust they had as kids. The way that even when Rhi had every right to hate Xavier… she couldn’t.
The symbolism of the turtledoves pulled at te heartstrings.
Loved the idea of the giftcards… so cute.
And let’s not forget that ending… WOW!!!
Adored this book and can’t wait to see whats coming next.
