I’ve read the reviews and you don’t need another synopsis of what’s going on here. This is a deep and dark book with dubious consent. In my mind BDSM comes with Safe, Sane and Consensual so I don’t want to put this in that category. Connor has shown he’s caring and considerate a time or two, but let’s face it. He’s a sadist that has taken Molly with every intention of making her his pet and property. I had to walk away several times just to absorb what I’d read and breath. This one is not for the faint of heart and does end in a cliffhanger. You had to know it would. Something this deep and dark can’t come to a conclusion in just one. It may take me a bit, but I’m determined to see how this plays out.
Hard one to rate this one I enjoyed myself but at times this did make hard reading.
This is almost felt at times like an erotic version of the King book Misery.
Where an erotic author is taken captive by an obsessed super fan and this time she gets to play the leading role from her own warped imagination.
This was heavy on the Pet-Play and humiliation is the definite kink here.
Taken itself is a very stockholmy type dark romance dealing with themes of complete power exchange so please do be aware of this fact.
Connor himself is also a really hard one to stomach and he doesn’t always come across in the best of lights.
He’s good looking and charming but with a completely psychopathic personality that he keeps underwraps and at times the lines are really blurred here.
This is hard-core dark romance definitely not shades of grey and this so won’t be for everyone.
I’m in the fence slightly: I will be continuing as I want to know where this is heading after that finale.
So, This was well-written dark and disturbing I myself would have rated this higher if I could have taken to Connor but I really just couldn’t.
It will be interesting to see where this goes in regards to the romantic aspect of things because at the moment I am a tad sceptical of these finer feelings from Connors camp.
I voluntary reviewed an Arc of Taken (Book one in The Dark Necessities trilogy).
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Good trigalgy.
Dark, Yet Intriguing… Proceed with Caution!!
An author is “Taken” by a fan. This is no random event. This is well planned, and the opportunity for escape is little and none. The author writes BDSM, pet-play and various other activities, which the kidnapper takes as her preferences. He decides to fulfill her every wish – as he sees them.
An interesting premise presented with compelling characters. Definitely dark and twisted. If you can handle dark, you will enjoy. Part #1 of a Trilogy – ends with a cliff!!
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
I will start this review by saying that it is a dark book with a lot of dubcon and some non consensual stuff. If any of that offends you do not get this book. If your okay with that then do get it. It’s a great story with many details. I was surprised to find that the whole story takes place during only a few days after Molly is adducted. You get both points of view and some third person throughout the book. I loved how it switch back and forth between the two characters and how they felt in each situation. Also the main characters are pretty much the only characters in the book which is unusual for me but I liked how it was focused solely on them. I found it captivating and kept picking my kindle back up to read more. It is a long story so don’t expect to read it all in one setting unless you have a lot of time to do so. Nothing was predictable in this book and I’m so happy that the next installment in this series will be out soon because I need to know more of Molly and Conner’s story!
I am volunteering to leave a review of this ARC book. WOW! Dark Romance. Amazing Dark Romance! Amazing Cliff-Hanger Dark Romance. I read this in almost one sitting! I took a break for dinner! This book flowed and flowed and flowed. The characters amazingly written. Molly is enduring an unbelievably degrading relationship with her captor. Her captor, what can I say, phew. Thank goodness part II comes out in December and Part III in January. I don’t think I could wait too long to see the ultimate outcome. No spoilers. If you want an intense, thought provoking read… WOW Felicity, just WOW!
Wow!! In this first book we get the beginning of Molly and Connor’s story. Oh the dark, twisted and super intense turns we get taken through. I’m not really one to read dark romance but this story just hooked me from the start and now I can’t wait to get the other books to complete this story!! Well done, Felicity Brandon, well done!!
While this may not be eveyone’s cup of tea, I FRIGGIN LOVED IT. Dark and twisted and delightful. The characters are fantastically crafted.
This is a great book, I Am enjoying this series immensely, I am almost finished with book 2
Awesome book. Couldn’t put it down.
This book is screwed up in a messed up way. So we have Molly our wonderful woman/author that is living her life. She enjoys her life with her friends and writing her dirty stories. But when she is kidnapped by a stranger who happens to be a huge over the top fan things get real really fast.
Conner takes Molly to make her stories become real and even though there is a hint of more going on you are never given the whole story on why Conner is doing this. I mean of course he is getting a huge kick out of it. And he is enjoying himself greatly. But to be-honest there seems to be something more going on that we just don’t know about yet.
I enjoyed this story, but I couldn’t go up to 5 stars. There was some messed up stuff going on with this book and even though I liked the concept of the story and will read the others, because I mean come on. I just couldn’t go all the way to 5.
This story is intensely dark in the nature of it when an author is taken after a book signing . Held against her will and subjected to the horrors and fantasies she pens, but knowing which ones are worse Molly tries to fight for her freedom but fighting herself with the darkness inside her proves harder for her to expect. A great start to this series, a lot of detail is taking to drawing you in to the tale.
I really enjoyed reading Taken (Book One in the Dark Necessities Trilogy) by Felicity Brandon. Felicity has a way of creating a truly unique book. The storyline intrigued me throughout and I found the characters compelling. The character Molly Clary (erotic romance author) goes through a sort of metamorphose once she is taken by Connor Reilly. She is forced to adapt to her new reality and by doing so she starts to find herself and what she needs and wants. She finds Connor a dominating presence while she is forced to follow his rules. Molly comes to terms with herself as she starts to crave all that Connor does to her. This story ends in a semi cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read book two and three of this trilogy. If you like dark reads I highly recommend this book.
As with all Ms Brandon’s other novels, this story tells about the dark and taboo side (in today’s society) of love. Molly is a dark erotic romance writer who is kidnapped by a fanatical fan, Connor. It was fascinating following Molly’s gradual submission to Connor. What I found of particular interest was how Molly’s initial non-consent was mainly based on societal expectations – She is a strong, independent woman. She shouldn’t like the situations Connor puts her through even though she secretly does. The scenes are well written and your emotions will run high. You also get glimpses of Connor’s thoughts. Bring on book number 2! I received this book as an ARC and am leaving my honest reveiw.
Wow! Where to start, at times I found Connor completely disturbing and hard to read about, and poor Molly, captured, humiliated, disciplined and demeaned by a man I don’t think is quite all there?
At times I found this extremely hard to read and yet I couldn’t put it down or walk away. This author did her job by capturing my attention, invoking feelings of empathy, dislike, horror, jubilation and so many more emotions! Erotic and dark are mild words to describe this story and it’s characters, intense, disturbing, repelling, compulsive addictive……..Bravo!
The warnings are real. This is a dark book with dark subject matter. This is not for the faint of heart.
All that being said I think that Felicity Brandon does an excellent job weaving the story she intended. There are twists and turns that were not expected. It’s hard to write true BDSM and have it play out well and there are always going to be complaints from those who aren’t familiar to some extent.
I look forward to delving into this again with Felicity. I enjoy her writing and do enjoy the darker side of the romance genre.
This book is so bad it’s good lol! I really want to do bad things to Conner and I wanted to stop reading but I couldn’t. Oh yeah, this ends on a cliffhanger and now I’ve got to wait to see what happens next!
This book is a dark romance and I mean dark. Molly is an American author, who writes BDSM books and is in England for book signing. There she meets Conner, a fan who later on saves her – BUT, did he? He abducts Molly and trains her to be his pet who also writes “their story”. You feel the raw emotions. The pain and suffering, humiliation, fright and even arousal that Molly goes through and as for Connor, he’s been a fan of Molly’s writing for quite a while. He wants her, to possess her, to break her. Molly doesn’t know from minute to minute what Connor will do to her.
Be warned, if very dark romances are not your thing, don’t read it. I happen to enjoy reading them as they are completely different from everything else I read. Also, this is a three part series. Cliffhangers.
What a fantastic beginning to what’s looking like one hell of a gripping series!
Right off the bat we are introduced to the two main characters,Connor and Molly.
Predator and Prey. Captor and Captive.
Highly charged book,It’s fast paced, exciting and very hard to put down.
It’s suspenseful and thrilling with a psychological twist to it as well.
Not only does Molly have to deal with being kidnapped.
She has to try and reconcile what her mind knows and how her body reacts.
This book is very well written.
There are many aspects to the story and plot.
I’m excited to read more!
