Woven into the fabric of prophecy, a young boy named Nehemiah must choose to embrace his destiny as cupbearer to the King of Kings.
When Nehemiah, the child of Jewish exiles, begins hearing whispers and experiencing portentous visions, it quickly becomes clear to his father and his rabbi that the young cupbearer is meant for a higher purpose… but what? Certain that the Messiah is alive at that … alive at that very moment, the family waits for the boy’s destiny to be revealed.
From the ancient site of the Garden of Eden, Nehemiah undertakes a perilous journey. The caravan route is full of danger, hardship, and mystery — all of it linked to what Nehemiah has in his keeping.
In due time, his path becomes clear. It leads to Jerusalem, to a wealthy Pharisee named Joseph of Arimathea… and to Jesus of Nazareth.
In Take This Cup, the second installment of the Jerusalem Chronicles, Bodie & Brock Thoene envision more of Scripture’s most enigmatic moments and expand their award-winning canon of historical fiction with unprecedented power and depth.

This book wasn’t at all what I expected, but in a good way. Mystical and imaginative, it follows the story of Nehemiah, from before his birth up to the time he (still a very young boy) is present at Jesus’ last supper. During the adventurous story, Nehemiah is visited in dreams and visions by Joseph (son of Jacob) and protected from robbers by a …
Although I recognized the stories in the Bible that this was drawn from, it had it own original twist and really made me think of Joseph and all the ways this cup figured into other stories down through the decades! I liked the dream sequences that wrapped into the story and how it all came together at the time of the crucifixtion. I would like …
I really enjoyed this book it was very inspirational i really love Brok and Brodie Thoene books
I don’t think Bodie Thorne has written a bad book. The rich pallet of historical context is always engrossing and the characters live under her pen.
This was a three book series and each was better than the last. For me, a treasure and I’ve kept all three on my tablet to read again.
Take This Cup is the second book in the Jerusalem Chronicles, a biblical fiction series set at the time of Christ. If you read my review of the first book, When Jesus Wept, you may remember that I began this series for Easter and really enjoyed it. The writing style and characters drew me into the world of Jerusalem, and the second book, Take …
So far every book that I’ve read from this author I’ve loved. The author presents this story in a way to make you think. One might assume this is story is about Jesus. While it is, it isn’t the story is based on a boy that later ends up being the cup bearer at Jesus’s last summer. All the books in the series could be stand alone, but it helps to …
Absolutely enthralling! I adore the authors of this book.
Thorne books are my favorite Christian books. They make Bible characters so realistic and remind the reader they were all real people with real lives.
Biblical historical fiction at its best.
Creates a story around the Chalice that is intriguing., but doesn’t always feel real.
Hard to read lost interest halfway through the second book
I really enjoyed this book. Makes the Bible come alive to things I had heard & studied all my life. Wonderful!
I’ve never read a book by this author that I didn’t love. Their books are the best ever. I would recommend reading anything they write

Very inspirational interesting characters fast moving wonderful to listen to
I loved this book! It was very inspirational for me. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves Christian fiction.
This is one of my favorite authors and this book is part of an on going series. You can read it as a stand alone book but I recommend reading the entire series.
Very good book to read with a Bible theme
This book was fine, but I found that it got rather wordy and hard to follow the story at times. It does have a very happy ending, which made it worth reading.
