Film lover Barbara Marr is a typical suburban mom living the typical suburban life in her sleepy little town of Rustic Woods, Virginia. Typical, that is until she sets out to find the missing link between a bizarre monkey sighting in her yard and the bone chilling middle-of-the-night fright fest at the strangely vacant house next door. When Barb talks her two friends into some seemingly innocent … innocent Charlie’s Angels-like sleuthing, they stumble upon way more than they bargained for and uncover a piece of neighborhood history that certain people would kill to keep on the cutting room floor.

A great start to this Series! This book is a lot of fun and full of wit and charm. I laughed out loud through the entire book and still catch myself laughing after I’ve finished. Can’t wait to read the rest!!!
I really enjoyed this book. It’s different from the typical cozy mystery. The references to movies are interesting too, the way the narrator thinks and her mind wanders sometimes. Amusing
After buying the book I just had to buy the audiobook too. This book just hit all the right buttons for me so I just had to buy it.
Very funny story and lovely characters that find themselves in lots of trouble and mayhem. You would think running a house with three growing girls in would be a handful all by its self but no. When Barbara hears …
The description reminded me of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series, and since I could get it for next to nothing, I thought it would be worth a try. It definitely was. Like the Plum books it was well written, funny, surprising, hard to put down, and had very likable characters. Unlike Stephanie Plum, the leading character didn’t blow up or …
Amusing and unpredictable, Karen Cantwell’s “Take the Monkeys and Run” is a great light read for escape and leisure reading. There are plenty of great plot twists and things you’ll never imagine, and it’s well worth your time.
Great funny thriller. Hard to put down. Very good short read.
It was a very fast and fun read.
This was an exciting mystery! There were some twists that kept me guessing. Couldn’t put it down!
Easy breezy beach read
This was a fun book although pretty unbelievable. I thought about reading sequel but not sure how it could be much different.
Excellent book looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
After the first 50 pages I deleted it from my Kindle.
Really, she didn’t know her husband was FBI?
This was a funny and interesting read. Had just a bit of a hard time believing that Barb didn’t know what her husband’s job was. Had to laugh out loud a few times, so it is a good read to lift your spirits. Interesting ending to be sure. Overall I liked this book and will be looking for more to read by Karen Cantwell.
Lots of fun, for such a crazy plot, believable characters and dialogue.
Enjoyed a few chuckles as Barbara Marr figures out her life not what she thinks it is and solves the case. Easy to figure out, but her thoughts (commentary) made it an easy read for me.
Sometimes I just want to have a good laugh, this book did it. Loved it
Could not really get interested in this book.
Deleted the copy when the first 15 pages kept going around in circles; the mystery, pointless drivel, the mystery, pointless drivel; it’s like listening to someone tell you something and then going off on a tangent about something totally irrelevant and then back again and an hour later still not getting to the point. I can’t stand it. After the …
While my first book by Karen Cantwell, it won’t be my last! What a delightful book! On each page, i either smiled, chuckled or laughed. Yet, the plot with its twists and turns makes this book a true mystery. Highly recommended to my friends already.
