From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Carly Phillips comes a new story in her Knight Brothers series… fast…and ended with heartbreak and regrets.
Years later, she’s at the altar, about to marry another man.
He’s only there for closure, to finally put the past behind him.
But when the preacher asks if anyone has a reason the couple shouldn’t wed, she turns around and her gaze locks on his.
Suddenly he’s out of his seat.
Objecting.
Claiming.
And ultimately stealing the very pissed off bride and taking her to a secluded cabin.
He wants one week to convince her they’re meant to be, to remind her of the fiery passion still burning between them.
When their time together is up, will she walk away and break his heart this time, or will he finally have the woman he’s wanted all along?
For fans of Carly’s Knight Brothers, Take The Bride is book two in that series.
Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.

Loved it from the start when Ryder stands up at the wedding and says He Objects and then instead of the wedding going on as plans Sierra Knight takes off with him. Yep, this is the start of a great book and relationship as well. Author, Carly Phillips knows how to pen a tale that keeps us glued to the pages of our book as we flip them to see if this runaway bride becomes a new bride for Ryder or just a friend in real life. I am so ready for more Knights because this author tells us great stories that leave us wanting more …more …more.
A sensual, heart melting ride that left me breathless and demanding more! What a treat Take The Bride was. The story and characters were so breathtaking and the romance was exactly what I expected. Maybe even more so. I loved Ryder and Sierra. These two had OFF THE CHARTS chemistry you could feel coming off the pages all hot and heavy. I was so excited to read a story that involved the sexy and seductive hero stealing the bride. It was heavenly and wicked and what I needed!
Carly Phillips did such a great job with this book. The plot thickens brilliantly and the sex practically scorched me! I WANT MORE! This is one of the very best and most erotic reads from Carly Phillips and I loved every moment of it.
Take The Bride gets a DELICIOUSLY HOT FIVE SCORCHING STARS!
Awesome story!
A fantastic story full of emotion and passion. Sierra and Ryder have had a connection for years but, the past has kept their feelings buried so far down they do not even realize it until Sierra walks down the aisle to Jason!
Sexy short novella that packs a bit of a bunch to the feels!
I loved the whole objection at the wedding scenario and it only got better from there. I can’t find a single fault in this story LOL It captivated my attention from the beginning and I read it cover to cover in mere hours. Both our leads are very endearing and they will capture your heart!
The story is part of a series but you can honestly just read it on its own, especially if you’ve never read this author. This is definitely a great place to start to get to know her style and voice.
One of my favourite genres is second chance romance and Take the Bride hit the spot for me….
Carly Phillips gave us a hot and engaging tale which I really enjoyed.
An objection to a wedding is not something that’s heard at many ceremonies but when Ryder surprised himself by standing up and doing just that during Sierra’s wedding – the one he pushed away – I just knew that it was gonna be a fun read.
Sierra thought she was over Ryder but after he stopped her wedding and the events that followed, she realized that she might have been kidding herself about how she felt for him.
I loved this pair together. Ryder had his own reasons for his actions in the past and while I understood why he did what he did, I was still a bit peeved at him for hurting Sierra.
A quick read in the 1001 Dark Nights series, this is a solid 4* read for me and one I’d definitely recommend.
This is a first time author for us and we really enjoyed our first read by them.I loved the story from beginning to end it was fun and flirty and sexual and all about righting the wrongs of ones past and all about second chances and hopefully getting that happily ever after that you envisioned as a teenager.
Ryder and Sierra were super hot together and were just one of those couples that just fit and even after years apart they still loved each other with intense passion never forgotten. We loved that they just came apart in others arms time and time again and all it took was one heated look !
Overall we loved this story it was one of those feel good stories and for a novella it was packed with tons of fun and a whole lot of heat. The story had amazing characters and we loved each and every one of them.
Recommended read to all !
Carly Phillips has a wonderful way with her characters!
Take the Bride is book 2 in the Knight Brothers series by Carly Phillips. This is a novella but wish it was longer…well written and sexy too! 4.5 stars
Sierra and Ryan were sweethearts years ago but he broke her heart when HE decided that she needed to pursue her dreams before they could possible settle down together. The breakup took them down totally different paths and now years later, Sierra is set to get married.
While Ryan has remained friends with her brothers he has hidden the fact that no matter where his life took him he has never stopped loving Sienna…this story takes us on a journey to finding that sometimes even a young heart knows when it’s found his soulmate…can he watch her get married to another man or will he finally wake up to what has been missing in his life??
4.5 Stars
This is book 2 in the Knights Brothers series and it features Sierra and Ryder. This is a fantastic, sizzling HOT romance that is all about second chances. Ryder does an EXCELLENT job showing Sierra that the spark, or the INFERNO, is still there between them. I love that her brothers all came to his defense. After all, he is a pretty awesome guy.
This is a fabulous book that I wish were much longer. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
This was the first Carly Phillips Book I’ve read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There was drama at the beginning that turned into some hot romance with some sweetness too. This novella definitely makes me want to go read the books abut the Knight brothers right now!
A great easy read novella from Carly Phillip’s Knight Brothers series. Second chance romance with first loves.
Usually I shy away from novellas because so crave so much more in the story, but Take the Bride by Carly Phillips was everything I wanted and more! The story of Ryder and Sierra was so hot I swear it nearly overheated my kindle! Ryder is best friends with Sierra’s older brother and they were high schools sweethearts. Ryder broke Sierra’s heart though so fast forward to present to see her marrying a man that she thinks would be good for her and to her but there is no passion. When the preacher says ‘Speak now or forever hold your peace’ Ryder does just that without really thinking it through. This is a MUST read!
Take The Bride carries the signature smouldering hot and emotional writing of Carly Phillips in spite of being a novella. She captured the full range of passionate feelings in this second chance, brother’s best friend romance!
The story starts off dramatically on the day of Sierra’s wedding. Blast from her past and her first love Ryder is also attending. She tries to ignore the pangs in her heart and the doubts but a reckless act by Ryder derails all the plans for the day. Now they have but no choice to face their hidden and unrequited feelings. But Ryder broke her heart once. Can she trust him? Is there any deep seated reason of Ryder’s action?
Carly Phillips is so amazing in bringing out the scorching hot chemistry and then soothing the burn with sweetest emotions. It may be a short story but it feels like I have known the characters forever. Ryder was a perfect combination of every great manhood qualities. I forgave his stupid mistake of letting Sierra go all those years back because he is so dreamy and romantic right now. Sierra is my kind of girl. She is soft and sweet with the right amount of sass. I am glad she made Ryder work hard to win her back!
Take The Bride is a great example of quality over quantity. Carly Phillips gave us another sensual and beautiful story which left me craving for more.
Received ARC for Honest Review
This is the Knight Brothers’ sister getting her story. Sierra is walking down the aisle to her future, but her first love has other ideas. Ryder does the unthinkable, but he has no regrets. Ryder and Sierra have a ton of chemistry and when they’re are close those sparks instantly ignite. This book shows how one second decision can change the course of your life. This is a stand alone novella, but it got me excited for the next Knight Brother book. I LOVED the epilogue to pieces. It made me happy and left me with a smile on my face.
Fast paced, drama-filled and oh so yummy! She’s supposed to be getting married to another guy, but when he stands up and objects, all bets are off! Will she forgive him for ruining her day? Will he be able to convince her that instead of the future she had planned, she should give him another shot? Exciting read!
Ryder Hammond was only supposed to be at the wedding for closure. As her brother’s best friend, he received an invitation, and he figured after seeing her take that final step into forever, he’d have to finally close the door on that chapter … right?
Sierra Knight was all set to start the rest of her life. Walking down the aisle towards a great guy, all smiles … until her eyes landed on him. Her high school sweetheart, the man she loved above all else, the man she wanted to spend forever with, the man who broke her heart like no other.
I don’t usually like reading the Book Description so I don’t go into the book with any expectations. This time I was glad that I bent that rule because it was a nice reminder about what the Dark Night series is all about.
Sierra Knight is about to start the next chapter of her life. Ryder Hammond wants to rectify an old mistake. With the unofficial start of summer here this would be the perfect book to read. You could take it to the beach. You could sit poolside. Maybe you’re going to a destination wedding – as a guest of course. You could even find a park bench somewhere. It’s a novella after all so that means that you can get it finished in just a matter of hours. Speed-reading is not an option with this one.
There’s another man in this story. You can’t call him a main character. You can’t really call him a secondary character. But the author will have you wondering if he finds his heart’s desire. Until we find that out, we have the Knight family to get to know. I liked that our author gave Sierra some brothers that look out for her. Not every sibling has others that may have their back when the time comes.
If you’ve never read any of this author’s work before, this is a nice introduction. She creates something that flows very nicely. She creates characters, and a situation, that seems so real. If you’re all about the HEA than she will feed that need for you. This is not the first book in the Knights Brothers series but you only need one to catch up but you better hurry because she has another book coming out soon.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
Take the Bride was total catnip for me! OMG this book was so wonderful and gave me everything I look for in a reunion story!
I never really bought into Sierra’s engagement as her fiancé was never in the picture when we first met the Knight family. I’m sure Jason was a wonderful man, but I knew he wasn’t the right man for her as soon as I saw how he reacted to Ryder interruption of their wedding. My heart broke for Sierra for being on the receiving end of Jason’s tirade.
When Ryder was the one to help Sierra escape from the wedding, I knew I was going to love everything that happened going forward between them. First loves reunited to see if they can make it work this time. Sierra and Ryder had the most amazing chemistry and I could feel the love between them even when Sierra wasn’t ready to admit to those feelings. I loved that while they picked back up on their physical relationship very quickly, Sierra needed the time to make things right with her ex and Ryder was man enough to give her the space she needed.
Take the Bride is another winner from Carly Phillips. I have fallen in love with each new book in the Knight Brothers series and I loved getting Sierra’s book even in novella length. This story pulled me in from the very first page and was filled with love, passion, redemption and family. I loved every single moment of Ryder and Sierra’s HEA!

Often, at a wedding, I think what happens if someone does object when the officiant asks “if anyone can show just cause why this couple cannot lawfully be joined together in matrimony, let them speak now or forever hold their peace.” Take the Bride is a second chance novella that presents one scenario. This story is Sienna’s Knight’s journey after Ryder Hammond objected to her marriage to another man.
Ryder and Sienna were childhood sweethearts. They talked about their future together until life events caused Ryder to rethink what he might offer Sienna as a future. Ryder remained in Sienna’s life over the years because he is her brother Sebastian’s best friend. With the reality of Sienna’s future with another man staring him in the face, Ryder objects when the preacher gave him a chance. Not only does Ryder object, but he also takes Sienna, willingly, out of town to talk and explain.
I’m on a novella spree lately. Fortunately, some good ones are showing up on my Kindle these days. While Take The Bride is only five decent length chapters and an epilogue, it takes us on a wild ride with this couple. Once Sienna and Ryder are on the road, he tries to justify what happened back in the day. Can he be trusted in the future? Is his explanation enough? You can find out.
I always have a book (or Kindle) in my hands and read whenever there is a spare moment. These lovely novellas like Take The Bride are a quick escape. It isn’t what I would call a realistic story, but it is one of those starry-eyed fantasies about which many women wonder. I liked it—A LOT. Anyone who reads the Knight Brothers series will want to add this to their reading list. Anyone who likes a good short story to add to their Kindle, Take The Bride is a good break from real life.
You will be rooting for Ryder from the beginning This was such a refreshing quick read. I enjoyed this novella from Carly and it ends with a HEA!
