From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Carly Phillips comes a new story in her Knight Brothers series… fast…and ended with heartbreak and regrets.
Years later, she’s at the altar, about to marry another man.
He’s only there for closure, to finally put the past behind him.
But when the preacher asks if anyone has a reason the couple shouldn’t wed, she turns around and her gaze locks on his.
Suddenly he’s out of his seat.
Objecting.
Claiming.
And ultimately stealing the very pissed off bride and taking her to a secluded cabin.
He wants one week to convince her they’re meant to be, to remind her of the fiery passion still burning between them.
When their time together is up, will she walk away and break his heart this time, or will he finally have the woman he’s wanted all along?
For fans of Carly’s Knight Brothers, Take The Bride is book two in that series.
Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.

5 star review Take The Bride (The Knight Brothers #1.5) by Carly Phillips
This is a second chance at love story that I found totally captivating. A long time ago Ryder Hammond and Sierra Knight were in love, until he made a decision which changed both there lives and left Sierra devastated.
Now Sierra is getting married and Ryder is attending in an effort to get closure. The last thing he or anyone else expects is that he will object when the the minister asks if anyone has any objections, speak now or forever hold your peace. In doing this Ryder sets in motion a series of events that will be change both Sierra’s and his lives forever.
Sierra is shocked and heartbroken when her fiance Jason storms out of the church leaving her and when Ryder offers to take her from the church she agrees, knowing she cannot face what is waiting at home.
Ryder asks for a time to explain his actions from the past and to convince Sierra that he has changed Both Sierra and Ryder need to come to terms with the past, to forgive each other and perhaps then create the life together they both once dreamed of.
The question is can Sierra learn to trust the man who left her shattered?
I loved Sierra, she is feisty, independent, a woman who knows her own mind and is focused; Ryder I fell for hard and fast . Take The Bride although a novella, was at times a bit of an emotional roller coaster, with plenty of steam and hotness to satisfy any Carly Phillips reader.
The characters, in fact the whole family drew me in and kept me riveted till the last page. I am anxious to see where Ms. Phillips takes this series and cannot wait for the next book in the series.
At one point and time Sierra Knight was his everything, they were high school sweethearts with plans for the future, and dreams to make come true together. They were going to go to college, had plans to get married, raise babies, and spend the rest of their lives loving only each other. But then Ryder had a change of heart, and put an end to things before they had a chance to get started….
Now Sierra is ready to walk down the aisle, say her “I-do’s” and start a future… with another man! And that doesn’t sit real well with Ryder, he’s back and wants a second chance, question is will she give it to him?
Take the Bride made for the perfect afternoon literary escape, the words were mesmerizing and heartfelt, and the characters were quite welcoming, within minutes they had me feeling right at home in their world. This second chance romance story came rich with emotion and passion, the feels were unreal! I loved every minute of this one, it had everything I have come to expect from Ms. Phillips and more, definitely one of my favorites from her to date. I highly recommend this one, it’s guaranteed to leave your heart happy.
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
This was my first Knight Brothers book and not only did it introduce me to their world, which I’m completely excited to read more of, but it reminded me just how good Carly Phillips’ writing is.
Ryder Hammond didn’t attend Sierra Knight’s wedding with the intention to object. He actually came to say goodbye to the memories they had once shared. Ryder and Sierra were each other’s first loves and as much as it pained him, she would most likely be his only. Yes, he broke her heart years ago, but with the good intention of letting her live out her dreams. However, when the priest asked the ill-fated question, Ryder found himself standing up and answering, “I do.”
Sierra was ready to pledge herself to another man. A good, stable, perhaps not quite passionate man, but still a good man on her wedding day. It took only one moment to change all that. Then she found herself driving off not with her fiancé-husband, but with her ex to destinations unknown. How did her life get so messed up? A weekend originally planned to spend with her husband turns into a weekend spent with her ex. Can two former lovers turn their lives into something more? Can past hurts be put to rest to actually make a future together?
When the weekend comes to an end and Ryder and Sierra have to come out of the bubble they have been living in, no matter what, reality awaits and consequences have to be met. Ryder and Sierra have decisions to make which may not involve each other beyond their bubble.
What I loved about Take The Bride is that neither Ryder nor Sierra planned anything maliciously. Neither jumped into anything without thought or consideration for others feelings. Yes, this novella is all kinds of steamy, but it is also filled with thought and emotion. For my introduction into the Knight world it deserves an A+.
This is the author’s first book with 1001 Dark Nights, and I loved this side story about the Knight sister, from Carly Phillips’ new Knight Brothers series.
Sierra Knight is the youngest of 4 siblings. Her 3 older brothers are overprotective, but kind, and they all love each other very much. When she is walking down the aisle to her fiance, the one who doesn’t give her butterflies, but will give her a good, stable life, she can’t help but put her eyes on her first love. He’s there because he’s her brother Sebastian’s (the hero from book 1) best friend. He was her first everything, and she’s never been able to truly get over her feelings for him. When the priest asks if anyone objects, her eyes automatically meet Ryder’s. And then, he stands up and starts talking!
Ryder Hammond has been a friend of the Knight family since he was a kid. He and Sierra were each other’s first loves when she was a senior in high school, and he 2 years older. But like teenage boys tend to do, he made a decision for both of them that led to their breakup so she could go away to college. He thought he was doing right by her, but he broke both their hearts, and he never told her the real reason why. When he’s confronted with the sight of her walking down the aisle to another man, he has to object. He can’t stand the idea that their chance is lost forever. When she agrees to leave the church with him. He drives a couple hours away to a resort in the Poconos, and hopes some time alone will help him convince Sierra that they truly belong together forever.
Ryder and Sierra obviously still had strong chemistry, but that was the least of their concerns. Ryder had to admit to his faults and mistakes, and Sierra had to learn to trust him, and her own instincts, again. I enjoyed watching them struggle to come to terms with where they were, and where they wanted to be, in their lives. Separately and together.
Sierra’s brothers are so fantastic, and I’m really looking forward to getting the other 2 brothers’ stories! I wouldn’t mind knowing more about Ryder’s older brother as well! Plus, it appears Sierra’s oldest brother Ethan’s story will be a crossover with the author’s Dare series, which I ADORE. So many very exciting things coming soon from her.
This story was the epitome of a second chance romance, and though there was the drama of her non-wedding, it didn’t have a lot of the angst that typically causes my love/hate relationship with that trope. And I for one was so glad of that. It took that dramatic event for each of the characters to realize what they really mean to each other, and then they didn’t want to waste any time getting their HEA. Of course, this was a novella, so that sped things along as well. I really enjoyed this one, as I usually do this author’s work, and I’m anticipating what’s next.
Sierra Knight is marrying Jason today or is she? Ryder Hammond came to the wedding for closure but his heart had him speaking out. Now is his chance to right the wrong he made letting her go years ago. Can he convince Sierra that this time he wants their dream!!
Ryder and Sierra were in love at one time but Ryder made a decision for Sierra without finding out how she felt. Now she’s about to marry another man and Ryder speaks up during the ceremony. Her husband to be leaves her at the church and Ryder takes off with Sierra. They go to a cheesy hotel for honeymooners and Ryder just has to convince Sierra that he’s here to stay. Will she forgive him or has he lost her forever?
Second chance at love. Sexy and romantic. Loved it and can’t wait for Ethan’s story.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for the author *
The anticipation proved to be worth the wait. Sierra and Ryder sizzle. Take the Bride blends youthful heartache with adult regret. Phillips fires up the senses with this emotional romance. Those Knights sure know how to fall in love. Fast, furious and forever.
Loved the book! Beware when the priest asks if anyone objects to the couple being wed……. sometimes someone say they do have an objection, read this well written fast-paced story to see who the groom is!!
Sierra Knight is getting married, or is she…Just as Ethan, her oldest brother is walking her down the aisle and questioning her if ready because he has a car ready for a quick getaway, she is taking it all in, the groom at the end waiting for her, her bridemaids, her brothers, the guests, and Ryder Hammond, her first love. Everything is going as planned under the priest utters the dreaded words, “If anyone objects” Ryder is out of his seat and the groom is throwing a fit and out and before they know it Sierra and Ryder are on the road. Will they finally resolve all their issues and come together? This was such a delightful and perfect read. It was short but refreshing! I found myself laughing and smiling my way through and read it quickly. If you haven’t read the first one in this series, don’t fret, you will not be lost but WHY! it is a great read. This family is tight and I cannot wait to see what the other brothers are up to and watch them fall. Definitely recommend this one!
1001 Dark Knights, what a great way to discover so many new authors. I’m working my way thru the collections and thoroughly enjoying the books
I almost swooned when Ryder stood up to object to Sierra marrying another man. How romantic, even though by doing this it did cause chaos at the time. Sierra was hurt years ago by Ryder but saw past it to realize she could have her happily ever after with this awesome alpha male. The Knight Brothers is a great series and I couldn’t stop reading this book.
What could possibly go wrong on Sierra Knights wedding day? Everything was perfect, the groom was ready, she was set to walk down the aisle, the guests had arrived, the music was playing, the wedding party was in place. All that needed to happen was for her to make it to the altar. Nerves, that all it was, but her brother sensing it, asked “are you sure this is what you want?” Taking a deep breath and thinking about her groom waiting says, “I know I’ll have a good life with Jason.” That said she begins her walk to her groom taking in the guests as she goes when her eye catches on the one man who broke her heart, her first love and also her brother Sebastian’s best friend, Ryder! Remembering the dreams they once shared, the plans for their own wedding, sharing their hopes and dreams gave her pause, however, she continued on to her waiting groom. When the minister asks if anyone has any objections speak now or forever hold their peace.. Ryder can’t seem to stop himself when he stands and says ‘yes’. Chaos ensues at the church, Jason ends up leaving and Sierra is left heartbroken. Ryder offers to take her away from it all and to explain himself. Rather than face going home alone to all the reminders of the life she just lost, the gifts and packed boxes for moving in with her new husband, she lets him lead her away.
With no destination in mind, Ryder just drives as Sierra sleeps next to him after giving in to the exhaustion of the emotional day. He finds himself at a couples resort sharing a room with no change of clothes or plans for what comes next. Can Sierra learn to trust Ryder again? Will he leave her again? Is their love forever this time? Ryder and Sierra will capture your heart and you will fall in love with them as they discover that maybe you can go back and get that second chance at the dreams you thought you lost.
Of course with all Carly books, it ends to soon for me but you won’t be disappointed with the magic she creates with these two characters. The Knight series is quickly becoming one of my favorites of Carly so don’t miss out!
Sierra is about to walk down the aisle to marry another man, but as she walks with her eldest brother, she notices Ryder Hammond and her heart quakes a bit. Having been rejected by him years before, he left her heartbroken and angry. Ryder, when it was asked if anyone objects to the marriage, speaks out without realizing what he’s doing. Her soon to be husband becomes furious but storms out instead. Ryder takes Sierra out of there to avoid the crowd. As they drive, they end up at a quaint resort. Can he prove to her that his decision years ago was for her own good? Will she understand and take his word that he will never betray her again? This is a wonderful novella as part of the Knight Brothers. Sierra’s brothers make small appearances also. Great story and characters once again by Carly Phillips. Highly recommend.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I absolutely loved this installment of Carly Phillips new series Knight Brothers and also a great part of 1001 Dark Nights. I loved the story Sierra Knight and Ryder Hammond’s love. How they got their second chance at love and were able to move on from mistakes made. Carly Phillips did not disappoint. I can not wait for the next part of this series. The knight series is so great I highly recommend you read the first book in the series.
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for a honest review**
What a great novella by Carly Phillips that goes along with not only 1001 Dark Nights, but also her Knight Brothers series.
Sierra Knight is ready to experience what should be the happiest day of her life; her wedding day. That is until her brother asks if she has any doubts and then the one thing she never expected follows that – someone objects to she and her fiance going through with the ceremony!
Ryder Hammond is not only Sierra’s brother Sebastian’s best friend, but he is also the man who broke up with her years ago and broke her heart. She always thought that they would spend their lives together, not going in separate directions. When Ryder objects to Sierra marrying Jason, he shocks both the bride and the groom, as well as himself.
With the wedding off and Ryder’s intentions clear, the question is will Sierra be able to give them another chance?
As with all of Carly Phillips’ books, I loved it and I’m anxiously awaiting the books of the other two brothers, as I know they will be just as great! I highly recommend you picking this one up!
The one line that only works during soap opera wedding’s is the one line that makes everything Sierra stand still. In front of family and friends already at the front of the church Ryder stands up and stops the wedding. But will the bride continue with the marriage or will she run away with her high school sweetheart who broke her heart. “If anyone can show cause why this couple cannot lawfully be joined….” can either make or break Sierra’s heart. This book had it all. Awesome characters, emotions that go from laughter to tears and a storyline that was a joy to read. Carly Phillips once again does not disappoint.
When they were younger, Sierra and Ryder were a couple until the day Ryder let her go and broke her heart. Years later it’s Sierra’s wedding day. She is marrying someone else. When the priest asks if anyone objects, Ryder stands and voices his objection, stopping the ceremony and ruining Sierra’s wedding day. Ryder is ready to claim Sierra as his, but can he convince her to give him a chance, or is it too late.
This Novella was so good! I highly recommend it.
