A traumatized girl wakes in the hospital with no memory of how she got there. Or of anything else. Her only thought is to find the one person she remembers—her Uncle Alex. When the authorities contact Alex Mercer, he rushes to the hospital. He’s surprised to find it’s his cousin Ayla. Shocked to see the condition she’s in. Stunned to learn her parents are missing.Alex welcomes her into his home, … into his home, and the family rallies around her as she tries to recover. But progress is slow, and for every step forward, she backslides. Compounding the problem is the mounting evidence that none of this was an accident. And the answers to the mystery are locked in her fragile mind.
Ayla is scared she’ll never remember. Even more frightened she will—and she won’t like what she recalls. But when she comes face to face with the worst memory of all, she realizes so much more than her history is at stake. And it might be too late to do anything about it.

Another amazing read by Claflin. She knows how to tell a story and keep it real. Filled with super characters you feel at home with.
OMG I love these books and this latest addition did not let it down! Although it does seem this family is totally cursed you have admire the way they all come together to support and encourage each other even when it’s family they haven’t seen in a while! Another kidnapping, non stop action, a little romance and family which means everything! And let’s not forget the twists and turns and that ending, OMG! I cannot recommend this series enough!!!
I received a review copy of this story and loved it. I have read all of the books in the Alex Mercer series and I think this one is my favorite! So full of emotions! I highly recommend you give it a read. I don’t think you will be disappointed!
I love catching up with Alex and his family and friends. These people who say their family is cursed, just be on to something.
Not only his immediate family, but extended family, now a cousin Robin and her daughter, Ayla are kidnapped & missing, but even though she is found, she still lives in a nightmare.
And his police captain’s family get more bad/disturbing news to deal with. Thank heavens “G” is there for Nick, their girls, and Parker to keep their feet somewhat on the ground for a good portion of the roller coaster ride.
Can’t wait to see who stalker420 really is!
Another great mystery from Alex Mercer’s series. Alex is contacted to take care of her cousin daughter’s Ayla after she is been found out in the woods in Spokane traumatised and bad beating. He takes her home and they all try to help her bring back all her memories in order to find what happened to her and where are her parents. Rollercoaster of emotions.
Another great addition to the Alex Mercer series. This family may be cursed as family members keep getting abducted, they are like a magnet for bad guys. The author does a wonderful job with the emotions of the characters and writes a great tale of suspense that will keep you turning the pages. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.

Terrific (in all senses of the word)! I don’t know how she does it but author Stacy Claflin got my adrenaline rushing once again with this gorgeous thriller centered on young policeman Alex Mercer and his hapless family and friends. Such a treat to read: fast paced, with so many twists, great writing and another crazed villain, this one after Robin, Alex’s Spokane-resident cousin and her totally traumatized pre-teen daughter Ayla. I really liked the way the story alternates between their nightmare and Police Chief Nick Fleshman’s most recent family dilemmas; the emotional Fleshman family revelations and aftermath take a bit of the pressure down so the main plot thriller can, In contrast, keep churning and building. The shorter chapter format also lets you take a proverbial breath between scenes; with all the drama and tension in the story, I appreciated the technique.
I am such a fan of this series. I feel like I know these characters and the contrast between the happy, growing families they have created and the threats they constantly deal with will keep me coming back as long as this series continues.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
