A buttoned-up counsellor. A hot ex-con with secrets. One session that changes everything. It was supposed to be simple: Let Jace Riggs walk into my counseling office, tell me how he’s adjusting to post-prison life, and let him walk out again. But the first thing I’ve learned is that nothing is simple with Jace. He’s tall, muscled, bearded and tatted. He’s smarter than anyone else in the room and … than anyone else in the room and ten times more guarded. He’s hiding things that would break any other man to pieces. He’s a loner, a bad boy, and an infamous Riggs brother from the wrong side of the tracks.
He’s a hundred kinds of wrong for me. And even when I’m not his counsellor anymore, I still want to break down his defenses.
Jace has never trusted anyone – until me. He says I’m the only woman he wants close to him. The only woman he’s wanted in his bed – ever. And when he looks at me with that look of white-hot fire, I believe everything he says.
My own secrets could get Jace sent back to prison – or get him killed. And he doesn’t care.
We had so little time. We might not have until morning. But with the fire ignited between Jace and me, forever wouldn’t be long enough…

******** AUDIOBOOK REVIEW ********
Quid pro quo, Clarice!
Lol this gave me a bit of a Silence of the Lambs vibe… well, minus the whole eating faces and brains that is! That is not the type of eating face Jace likes to do! * Cough * Cough * Excuse me for a moment but I think these Riggs men make all women a bit crazy. Anyways, it was only the counseling meetings that made me feel this way. Otherwise, Jace is an absolute dream! I have this feeling that every Riggs man is going to steal my heart during their book and I’m really ok with that but I’m going to need Dex and Ryan in my ears like ASAP!
So far the first book and this book have said that the Riggs brothers aren’t close but I beg to differ. These boys care so much about each other. They just have no idea what to do with it. Their actions show much more of their hearts than their words do. Now Jace and Tara, I loved them together! They were fire and oxygen… one giving strength to the other. They really balanced each other so perfectly!
That narration from Erin Mallon and Joe Arden was perfection. I have been sitting here wracking my brain on anything I could even slightly complain about but I have nothing. These two are so good together. There’s not one single thing that could be changed to make the narration better… nothing.
Take Me Down by Julie Kriss – See we have a problem because I don’t know how Julie Kriss is going to top this book. It might be my favorite one of hers ever! Jace gets out of prison after rolling on his dad and the criminal organization his dad worked for. His court appointed therapist Tara is impossible to forget, so Jace picks a series of fights with her. When Tara’s cop ex-boyfriend rats him out to a crime boss, Jace is going to need his brother and some luck to keep from being a missing person’s report. I LOVED the ending!! Happy Reading!
Alright so I finished Drive Me Wild and I ran straight over to kindle and bought the rest of the series. And as soon as it finished downloading I dove straight into Take Me Down. And I have zero regrets.
I thought I loved Luke but Jace just blew him out of the water and I absolutely call dibs. He was so far from being a bad boy except for the fact of his parentage. Oh and the car theft. But he was just such a misunderstood, misjudged, sweetheart. I liked him from the start but I fell more and more in love with him as his secrets were revealed.
He was so beautiful and had been dealt such a rough hand I just wanted to wrap him up and keep him safe. And I loved that Tara saw through the reputation to his solid gold heart. She was such an awesome match for him and appreciated all his many pieces.
I really love watching the brothers slowly learning how to be a family. And getting the next step in Luke and Emily’s story was perfect. This was a great read and now I am off to read Ryan’s book.
This is a 4 book series the last book….and I really like the first book…the 2nd and 3rd books I don’t think I even finished them
These Riggs brothers are awesome in their own books but when they come together as a family it just rocks you. Julie Kriss shows us the silent and oh so quiet Riggs brother and boy is Jace worth waiting in his own book. We see a couple reasons why he did what he did yet the more questions about him are answered we fall more in love with him. Tara is a strong woman and exactly what Jace needs to balance him from well going the wrong way. I loved seeing them come together trying to make themselves better than what they were born into. Cannot wait to see more of these brother and what Julie Kriss will do. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
“I should have known better. That was the last time we were civil. After that, it all went to hell.”
Jace has always been the most introvert and controlled Riggs brother. Smart and passionate about books, his chances for a better life have always been taken from him, by prejudices and judgments made about his family. The teachers thought he cheated on his grades, his friends were nonexistent, and the townspeople saw him and his brothers as delinquents. No one ever cared. When he gets arrested, everyone was expecting that. But for those who really knew him, it was a surprise.
Now released from prison, he still has to go through several protocols to actually be considered free. Sticking to the rules one by one, all he wants is to start over. Until a session with a new psychological counselor threatens all his progress.
Tara believes in helping others. After all, that’s why she chose her profession. But upon receiving a new case, her prejudgment and certain prejudice will put everything to lose. Seeing Jace as a reflection of his father will be her biggest mistake. And her attraction to him will only make things worse.
And when their professional relationship ceases to exist, resisting the growing attraction will be next to impossible. And as Tara comes to know Jace and discover his secrets, falling in love will be harder than she thinks. But when a situation puts Jace in danger and someone from Tara’s past proves to be a threat, the possibility of a future together becomes increasingly distant.
Jace was a pleasant surprise. At the same time that he shows courage, he shows extreme vulnerability. He can’t see that others care about him. Even if the brothers are not close, and all their interactions end in fights, it is undeniable that they care, and the recent rapprochement has shown how much they need each other’s support.
Tara helps Jace open himself and fight for what he wants. The two are a beautiful couple. Like the first book, there is a little tension, the brothers are in trouble again. Jace earned a more than deserved second chance. It is impossible not to cheer for him.
There are still two brothers on the way. What will their journeys be like?

I liked Luke, but Jace story with Tara became my favorite in the series. Jace being an ex-con he has baggage and secrets. Tara is the counselor assigned to him, the sexual tension is palpable, it made this story so good to read. I am liking the under plot stitching all the books in the series together. I can’t wait to read the next ones.
I desperately wanted this to be Dex’s book because he’s the more interesting of the Riggs brothers to me, but I also love the idea of Jace Riggs, the quiet one.
“I was the quiet Riggs brother, the solitary one, whereas my three brothers were the rowdy bad boys.”
Jace was not only the quiet one, he was the intelligent one, always invisible, always reading a book. The fact he went to prison for grand theft auto was a huge surprise to his brothers. He’s now out of prison, in probationary period, and living in the guest house, back of the Riggs house where Luke lives with Emily. He’s also working with Luke in the family business, Riggs Auto, now a clean business. The other Riggs brothers live in Detroit.
When he’s ordered to go for counseling, he’s surprised but goes. He will do everything ordered by the penitentiary system in order to close this chapter of his life. The case worker assigned to his case is a young woman, who at first glance rocked his world. He was in no hurry to join the sexy life of a single man, but she changed his mind in a minute!
“I liked talking to her. She was smart and self-deprecating and sometimes funny. She was vulnerable and raw, and she was tough and capable at the same time, a woman who didn’t let me give her any shit. She could make an insightful comment you’d never thought of in one breath, and a dick joke in the next. She was fucking fascinating.”
Tara Montgomery didn’t know about the Riggs brother’s fame because she didn’t attend public school. Raised by parents who were well off, she wasn’t in their same social circles. She was engaged to be married, but broke off wedding plans eight months ago because she was not happy and her sex life was atrocious. However, one look at Jace and she was raring to go. Next morning, she even had a sex dream about him. It was an odd couple, she’s a professional counselor from a wealthy family, he’s an ex-con from the wrong side of town, with a family of dubious reputation. And yet, they clicked.
“But I stood there with his hands on my back and his hard, warm chest beneath my palms, and something inside me cracked open instead. I felt like I’d never been naked with a man before. I’d never been this naked with a man before, and it almost made me feel like weeping.”
“I had never wanted anything like I wanted Tara Montgomery. Like I had from the first minute she looked at me from across that desk.”
As with the previous book, there are shady dealings, but not from the Riggs brothers. There are forces in town that want them gone, trying to set them up. The brothers come together again, joining forces to correct a situation. They keep their women ignorant, and get yelled after. Ryan, the injured baseball player, comes around with his little boy, to visit the garage. I loved that scene because little Dylan kept talking, giving his father’s problems away to his uncles. The brothers asked and Dylan answered for his father. It was cute and funny, a picture of normality for the Riggs brothers.
Even though Tara and Jace face a lot of obstacles, they stay tuned to each other, secure in their desire to be together, determined to survive the odds against them. Luke and Emily are allies in their quest, and Dex proves to be the hero at the last hour. Again, a riveting, adventurous book, hella entertaining, page-turner bag of tricks.
Next up will be Ryan’s book and I’m looking forward to that one because of his little boy Dylan. Since Dex is the darkest and craziest of the brothers, it makes sense he will be the last book. And it will be awesome!
Take Me Down by Julie Kriss is the second book in her interconnected Riggs Brothers series. Told in dual POV, this series focuses on the Riggs brothers and their stories. This book is Jace’s story and it’s an emotional one. Starting with the discovery that he had his reasons for going to prison and that he really should NOT be in counseling, moving to the ridiculous amount of sexual chemistry he experiences WITH his counselor, and ending in a whirlwind of a relationship and life or death decision that wraps up Jace’s romance but doesn’t necessarily elave the Riggs brothers in a safe place.
Well-written and fast-paced Julie Kriss is a recently new to me author and I’m very glad I took a chance on her books. The stories flow well, read easy, are smoking hot, and have enough angst and drama to keep you enthralled but not too much so your left wore out by the end of the book. Loved this! Enjoy!
I’ve been waiting for Jace’s story since meeting him in the first book, and this one did not disappoint! I’ve read enough books over the years to know that I decided to go into this with a clear and open mind and no preconceived ideas about what I thought I knew about Jace, and I’m glad I did because that made this story that much more enjoyable. Just like the first book though, I was on the fence about the main female character Tara; the more I got into the story, the more I began to embrace her. They’ve both got PLENTY of secrets, and seeing how those secrets affected not only Jace and Tara but those around them was interesting, but of course necessary in order for them to have a shot at a HEA. By the time I got to the end, I find myself even more curious about Dex and his story.
Aww, those Riggs brothers! How could you not love them, desire them and devour them?
After being released from prison, Jace ends up in the same space as Tara. She is his counselor. But Jace is not typical. He marches to the beat of his own drummer. Being the strong silent type can be as sexy as being the throw you over my shoulder he-man. Especially when you have a woman in your life that can handle your attitude. Tara feels him, deep within the recesses of her soul she feels him.
They both have secrets. They both must learn trust and they both need to find themselves. The intrigue of this story truly held my attention and I can’t wait to delve into the other brothers.
Jace Riggs is the next brother up in the Riggs Brothers series with Take Me Down. Jace is newly out of jail where he served time for car theft. Tara is the counselor assigned to him to assist with his reacclimating to society. Tara is taken with the strong, silent Jace and while she can fraternize with a client she certainly can once he’s not.
This second in the series centers on the growing relationship between the leads with a side dose of criminal activity that makes for the conflict. Jace and Tara are good characters, well-matched and well developed. Tara is a smart woman who got out of a bad engagement, luckily it did not leave her bitter only cautious. Jace is scarred by life with his dad and the scorn of the town he grew up in but he is still a loyal, thoughtful man with something to offer.
This is a quick read with a bit of heat and good interactions between the leads. The side plot of drugs and brotherly mayhem is like the first book, interesting but “solved” a bit too neatly. Take Me Down is a sweet romance if you are in the mood to while away a couple of hours.
The youngest Riggs brother, Jace, is now a free man after doing 20 months for stealing cars. In order to be completely free from the system he needs to get the court appointed counselor to sign off that he is adjusting back into society just fine.
All Tara ever wanted to do as a counselor was help people. But, when Jace Riggs walks into her office, what is supposed to be a single and simple counseling session to full fill the needs of the court immediately becomes so much more. And, her life will never be the same.
Both Jace and Tara have secrets so big that the impact once known will be life altering. They are all kinds of wrong for each other . . . but oh so right as well. Their attraction is undeniable, but will it be enough to win against the forces against them?
OMG I loved Jace and Tara!!! Jace is the sweetest and is holding on to a couple of secrets that will knock your socks off. And Tara is so very genuine and an honest to goodness do gooder, but has secrets of her own that could send Jace back to jail and her back to an abusive relationship.
Readers will love this couple as well as getting to know the rest of the Riggs brothers a bit more. They may not have grown up with the best childhood, but when push comes to shove, they have each others backs. And, let me tell you, Dex has me completely intrigued after this book!
5 stars for Take Me Down! Holy hotness! Holy suspense! This is honestly, a story you need to read to believe and you won’t be able to put it down!
Omg I wanted to hug Jace so badly! I’ve only read these 2 books, but he is my favorite brother so far! I can’t wait to see what else is coming from this series!
Take Me Down is the second book in the Riggs brothers series and another fantastic page-turner by Julie Kriss. This was Jace and Tara’s story and I was hooked until the very end. From the moment these two met you could feel the chemistry between them even though they both tried to deny it. The other characters from the previous novel appeared in this story and provided great support to the main characters.
This novel had steamy scenes, action, some violence and was a captivating enjoyable read. I can’t wait to read about the other two brothers in this series.
I listened to the audiobook version of this novel which was narrated by Erin Mallon and Joe Arden who were perfect together for this story. They brought the characters to life and really made the story a pleasure to listen to.
I enjoyed reading this book, especially with the different storyline then most of the books I have been reading lately
The mystery between these brothers continues! I was definitely interested with this next book in the series being focused around Jace, especially with his reputation of being the one that nobody thought would get caught up in their father’s business and activities. Assigned to court-mandated therapy post release, Jace ends up meeting Tara, a counselor who gets assigned his case at the last minute, and wanting to make a difference in everyone she speaks with, pushes him as much as he does her. When Tara finds out exactly who Jace is and realizes her approach was misguided, she goes to apologize, and ends up starting a relationship with him. Unfortunately, the odds are stacked against Jace and his father’s influence haunting him, he’s on the hunt to make things right while keeping himself safe and clean. Tara is also showing character growth after breaking off her engagement and finding it was the right move after meeting Jace. What she doesn’t expect is her past coming back to haunt her and have ties to Jace’s problems as well. This book definitely sucked me in more than the first one, especially with the continued mystery/drama surrounding the brother’s themselves in addition to their father.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I thought Luke and Emily’s story was good, but Jace and Tara are off the charts! I just love everything about this book. Their chemistry is off the charts! The bad boy finally gets the girl that is deserves! This book had so many layers and surprises I couldn’t put it down! I needed to know what was going to happen and how! Ms. Kriss definitely has a way of pulling you in and grabbing your attention! Jace, so far, is my favorite Riggs, but I can’t wait to read more!
