I just knew this one was going to be good before I started it, I mean, we had glimpses of Parker in the previous sibling books and being the laid-back “Switzerland” brother who isn’t happy doing anything and bored with life, he had to get shaken up. When Ethan, the oldest brother, sends Parker to Colorado scouting locations for the corporate retreat his rental car has problems in a small town and the only place to stay is the local bed and breakfast which is really not open. When he is dropped off there he is assured they will not turn him away but Emily takes one look at him and that is exactly what she tries to do. She is not having a “city boy” who reminds her of her soon-to-be ex-husband in her home, that is until her father comes up behind them and welcomes Parker. There was certainly some powerful chemistry between these two along with some wake-up moments for everyone. So, so good. Parker finally finds the place he belongs that lets him breathe again. Now, I am on the watch for Ethan’s book!
This is the second book in the Knight Brothers series and definitely one of my favorites! Parker Knight is just hands down swoon-worthy….. he’s sex on a stick hot, compassionate, thoughtful but what happens when he meets a woman that lights a fire in him? Emily has sworn off men, especially after the hell she’s been through…. that is until she meets Parker Knight! Parker and Emily know their time is limited with his business in New York York and hers in Colorado but they plan to make the most of it and enjoy each other. Their story is sweet, sexy and one that will have you cheering for them to find love again in each other!
I enjoyed this story of 2 unique people learning to fit together, and make their own place in the world.
Parker Knight lost his mother as a kid, and then his father was absent, always making time for one wife after another, but never his own children. Then, later, he was living his dream as an elite Olympic champion skier, when he lost his fiancee, and his dream career, all in one fatal car accident. His siblings have always called him Switzerland, first for his chosen career, and then for his penchant of never choosing sides during their many disagreements. Once his skiing dreams were dead, he went to grad school, and went to work for the family business, but it’s never been his passion. When his eldest brother sends him to scout a resort for a corporate retreat in Colorado, he’s less than thrilled. Especially when his car breaks down in a small town with one B&B, and the woman who runs it doesn’t want to give him a room.
Emily Stevens went to culinary school, and she loves everything about baking. After finally leaving the big city, and her emotionally abusive husband, she’s back home helping her dad run her parents’ B&B. Her mom passed away not long after Emily returned home, and now she’s terrified of losing her dad too. She wants him to sell the place and retire to Florida to be closer to her sister and her family. But he won’t hear it. The inn needs so many repairs, and they can’t afford to make any of them. Plus, her soon-to-be-ex-husband keeps popping up in town unexpectedly, and it’s making her crazy. When she sees Parker’s city boy look and attitude, and is attracted to him at first sight, she panics and denies him a room. She has no room in her life for another controlling rich guy.
Parker and Emily have a strong attraction from the start, but Emily is fighting it with everything she has. She especially gets angry with Parker when he decides to lend her father, James, the money to make the renovations to the inn. He’s barging into her life and she does not appreciate his high-handedness. Parker hasn’t been attracted to anyone in so long and Emily is everything he didn’t know he was looking for. He’s falling for her town, her inn, her dad, and even her best friend, Harper, and Parker are big fans of each other. Emily feels cornered, and is trying to remember to guard her heart, because Parker’s life and family are in NYC, and she has no way of uprooting herself now, even if she were to want to.
The side plot with her ex had me interested, until it took a bit of a strange turn, and then I felt like we didn’t really get any closure on it. We never even got to see Parker’s reaction to everything that happened, and I felt like that was a missed opportunity. To be honest, that was my only real problem with this whole story, but it made me feel like the rest of the ending was a bit off, and I was waiting for the final part of this subplot, which didn’t really happen. But I really enjoyed Emily’s relationship with her best friend Harper, and with her dad, James. I’m also really hoping we’ll be getting some sort of novella about Harper and the local mechanic she’s been crushing on, Matt.
I loved Parker and Emily. They were really honest with each other, and I enjoyed their strong connection. Emily didn’t let Parker get away with bulldozing her, and he had to learn to temper his impulses in that regard. He took her fears from her prior relationship seriously, and I liked that he always did his best to put her needs first. Parker’s relationships with his siblings were great too, and I appreciate the way he didn’t let his eldest brother Ethan get away with how he treated Emily, regardless of where his head was at. Ethan has A LOT of demons to work through and I’m very much looking forward to his book next. It’s a crossover with the author’s Dare series, and I’m thrilled to get to look back at that big, dysfunctional family again! Can’t wait!
Another great book in a great series. I enjoyed Emily’s personality. I was so looking forward to Parker’s story and was not disappointed. Parker and Emily both have suffered a loss, but both work thru them to get their HEA. This was such an easy and happy read. Loved it
Parker and Emily was a fun, enjoyable couple to read. Both weren’t looking for a mate, in many ways this was a second chance love story as both have baggage but neither can deny their attraction.
Parker has the means to help and Emily has the pride not to ask for help. Parker finds his joy in in helping Emily and her father with their dreams. Emily helps Parker face his past while they forge forward with a future.
I laughed, swooned and sighed reading this story.
The Knights are a force to be reckoned with. They work hard, fight hard and love completely. The family mantra? “Easy is not good enough, to be the best requires work”. Words they take to heart in their professional and personal lives. Sebastian and Sierra fought their demons to come out on top, now it’s Parker’s turn. Take Me Down is the journey of two broken hearts merging into a soulful unit. Life has not always been kind to Parker or Emily, maybe this time fate finally got it right. Phillips takes heartbreaker to heart.
This was a fun book that I was able to breeze through. I always love Carly’s characters. She writes great characters. The dialogue probably helps, but also she gives them pasts and emotional scars, they have layers. It’s enjoyable to watch them work through that as they fall in love and help each other heal. In this book both Parker and Emily had layers and it was beautiful watching them heal each other, sometimes without even realizing it. I loved them as a couple. Parker was hot, and there were some nice steamy scenes between them. I definitely recommend this as an easy, fun and enjoyable read.
WOW! What is it with these Knight Brothers that make me so addicted to their stories???
Parker and Emily’s story truly is an emotional roller coaster ride.
Both characters are amazing, amiable, caring… people with soft spots for their families. But those soft spots also are the reason for the problems they have to deal with…
The plot had me ah-ing and oh-ing half of the time. The rest of the time I spent with cursing the plot, Ms. Phillips for writing this story the way she did, and with me trying to calm down my heart and preventing it from shattering into a million pieces!
This romance is another MUST READ in this series and I can’t wait to read more about Ethan Knight in Dare Me Tonight!
This was the second full length story in the Knight brother’s series. Parker lost everything in a car accident earlier in life and he hasn’t been living a full life since. Parker stumbles across everything he’s needed and wanted when his rental car breaks down in a small town. Emily is back home after finally escaping her controlling husband who made her lose her identity. From the moment Parker shows up at the inn looking for a place to stay, Emily and Parker were on a collision course to HEA. I loved Harper and James characters and it was fun to see snippets of Sebastian and Sierra. This was a fun read with lots of heart and heat!
This is Parker Knight story and Emily. This book is lovely, romantic and a little steamy. The characters are wonderful and the story is amazing. I love every single part of it. I really enjoy reading it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Okay Parker Knight is hands down my favorite Knight!! This book got me through my 6 hour plane ride home yesterday and what a great couple to spend that time with. Parker is sweet, caring, generous (sometimes too much), charming (but in a good way) and so very sexy. He has many more redeeming qualities but you see what I mean. Since his skiing career and engagement ended Parker has just been going through the motions and has thrown himself into being successful working with his brothers. But something has been missing for a while now and he finds out what that is when his car breaks down in a Colorado town and he meets Emily at the B&B she runs with her father. He has definitely found his reason in Emily! Only she does not like him much at first because she thinks he is like her ex, but that is before she gets to know him and sees that it is actually the furthest thing from the truth. I love watching this relationship unfold and was rooting for them so hard!! I love how Parker acts with Emily and her Dad and how he truly cares about what is happening to their Inn and their town and will help them and fight for them. He is as protective as he is sweet and I simply adore him. I love Emily and felt she and Parker were perfect for each other. I love that she is so thoughtful, driven and caring but thankfully she had her friend Harper to help her see the light. This is another winner in this wonderful series!! I can’t wait to see what’s in store next!
Take Me Down was EVERYTHING I have been craving and more! A incredible sizzling romance with a yummy hero and a heroine who I am totally girl crushing on!
Carly Phillips hit a home run with this book folks. It hits ALL the feels and ALL the chemistry and it SO hit ALL the right places inside my heart. Parker and Emily are two amazing characters. They pulled me in with their pasts and their romance and made me feel so good. My heart flew wide for this story and I HIGHLY recommend it!
Take Me Down gets a UNBELIEVABLY GOOD FIVE STUNNING STARS!
Parker is sent to look at locations for the next company retreat by his brother after they get into an argument about things in Parker’s past that have continued to dictate his life. While traveling, his car breaks down in a small town with only one place to rent a room. That inn is where he meets Emily, who has sworn off men due to a recent divorce. Reluctant to let Parker stay there as she is trying to motivate her father to sell and move, she refuses but is overpowered by her father. While Parker reminds Emily of her ex, he is anything but, and the majority of the book is him working to prove that and win her over. For every step of headway he makes with Emily, he somehow gets two steps back, and the bulk of the book is about these bumps. Overall, it was a great book that you didn’t have to read the first one in the series prior to reading.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The Knights are back and man we have Parker in this beautiful tale. Alot has happened since the first Knight brother and boy have they come a long way. We see Parker at a fork on the road in his life not sure what to do. Then we have Emily who knows what she wants but is afraid. I loved that Carly shows us Parker vulnerable in a way his brothers have never seen him then we have a strong woman like Emily making him feel complete. Loved it cannot wait to see what she does with Ethan.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
5 star review Take Me Down (The Knight Brothers #2) by Carly Phillips
I am really loving this latest series from Carly Phillips. There is somewthing about her style of writing that I love. The Knight Brothers series ticks all the boxes for me, from Alpha males, to feisty heroines and family love and support.
This is Parker Knight and Emily Stevens story and though not a particularly long read, Ms.Phillips certainly packed a whole lot of emotions into this book.
Parker has never really felt at home in the family business, an ex Olympic skier who was side lined due to injury, he knows that there is something missing and yet he just coasts along, not making waves, doing the jobs he is asked to do.
Sent to Colorado to scout a resort for a company retreat, Parker winds up at a run down B & B being run by Emily and her father.
Despite the obvious attraction that smoulders between them Emily is initially loath to let Parker in and trust him.
I loved how Parker embraced his feelings and focused on what he wanted. Emily had no chance once Parker set his mind on her.
Although the 3rd book in the series, this can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend you one click then all. I believe you may get more enjoyment if you read the previous books first.
Take Me Down was at times an emotional, totally hot and altogether great read. It was also fabulous to catch up with his siblings and their women.
Will Parker be able to help Emily with her controlling ex? Will Emily accept the financial assistance that he offers to her and her father? Will Parker and Emily finally get the happiness that they so richly deserve?
One click and find out…..
You never know when starting a book what characters will draw you in. Why certain ones make you keep reading and getting more involved with their stories and others don’t keep your interest. There was something about Parker and Emily that kept me interested. Parker was a really nice guy, not a pushover, but was unselfish and who lost his direction. Emily had a lot of losses in a short amount of time and was unfairly overprotective of her father. Parker and Emily came together at the right time in their life, when they needed what each could give to the other. This was an easy read and was hard to put down. I’m looking forward to Ethan’s story.

Take Me Down is a great addition to the Knight Brothers Series by Carly Phillips.
I think Parker Knight is my favorite Knight so far. I absolutely loved his character. He was the perfect mix of Alpha possessive and man with a soft and loving heart. He had me swooning throughout the whole story.
Take Me Down is the 3rd book in this series and can be read as a standalone. My recommendation would be to read this series in order. I think the family dynamic is better felt and understood if read in order. I also think there could be minor spoilers for the previous books. This story is a chance meeting romance. Two broken souls who happen to just meet. It is told in the third person Dual POV. I really enjoyed this book. It is a fairly quick read, but that could be because I was so engrossed in the characters lives. I had a hard time putting it down.
In this story we follow Parker and Emily’s story. Parker is the middle sibling and works for the family business. he isn’t happy with this, but after a tragic accident, his skiing career was done. His brother sends him to Colorado to check out a resort they can use for a corporate retreat. When Parker gets to Colorado, he isn’t impressed by the resort and starts to travel around to see what he can see. That is until the rental car has trouble he is forced to stay at a run down B&B in a small town. Enter Emily and her dad James. Emily is a small town baker and loves her dad a lot. When Parker and Emily meet the attraction is instant, but Emily is not happy to have another “city boy” enter her life. Can these two see eye to eye and find their HEA? What happens when Emily’s past won’t let her go?? Read this book to find out.
I loved both Emily and Parker. Like I said Parker is my favorite Knight so far. They were both broken from past relationships that didn’t end so well. I loved watching these two grow into themselves. Learning to face their fears. Also they learned how to love and heal through each other.
I enjoyed seeing Sebastian, Ashley, Sierra and even Ethan (oldest sibling) Although I hope Ethan’s attitude changes when it comes time to his book. He rubbed me the wrong way in this story.
If you are a fan of Carly Phillip’s books or the chance meeting romance, then this is a story you don’t want to miss. I would 100% recommend this book/series to all romance readers.
I loved Parker and Emily’s story! I was sad for him in the last book after his tragic past and am glad he got a book. This book had me smiling to me self quite often. It was a beautiful story filled with deep emotions, passionate feelings and wonderful characters! I love the Knight brothers. They are just such sweet, caring respectable guys!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
I’ve always been a sucker for Carly Phillips books and Take Me Down was no exception. Honestly, this might have been one of my top five books she’s ever written. I absolutely loved Parker and Emily!
Parker Knight is the middle Knight brother, known in his family as Switzerland because most of the time he sits back and is the neutral party. While he seems to be laid back and go with the flow, there are painful things in Parker’s past that he hasn’t totally dealt with and they are always brimming close to the surface. When his brother Ethan sends him out to Colorado to scout a location for an upcoming corporate retreat, Parker ends up with a broken down car, which leads him to a rundown B&B, The Ruby Rose Inn, in a very tiny town. At the inn he encounters Emily Stevens, the daughter of the owner, who is is attracted to immediately.
Emily returned to her hometown after her marriage fell apart due to a very controlling husband who wanted to change who she is, but also to help care for her ailing mother before her death. While Emily has dreams of her own, her goal at the moment is to convince her father to sell the rundown B&B and move to Florida to be near her sister. While they never turn stranded folks away, when Parker shows up on their doorstep, Emily immediately compares him to her soon-to-be ex, which makes her defensive from the get go.
Parker very quickly finds himself involved in the day-to-day lives of Emily and her father James. Knowing that the inn needs refurbished, Parker offers to loan the money to James in order to keep his and his late wife’s dream alive. When Emily learns what he’s done, she is torn about her feelings until she realizes that Parker is on the up and up and unlike her ex.
I absolutely adored these characters and the story that unfolded for them. There was emotion, there was depth, there was fear and there was hope. These two people who had been through so much individually were exactly what the other needed in order to make them whole in the end. Kudos to Carly Phillips for an amazing read!

Of course with some stumbling blocks and steamy sex we get to a very HEA.
