I’ve been an avid fan of Carly Phillips since falling in love with the Dare Family–and the Knights have now turned into an equally automatic one-click for me. “Take Me Down” is the first read of this new world for me, but it won’t be the last. I did love that I could jump in at Book 3, and easily followed what was happening. The cameos by Parker’s sibs definitely made me want to go and read their stories, as well! But of course, the star of this show is Parker himself, who is absolutely my kind of hero. Oddly disillusioned and a little burned out, he’s sent on a business trip that seriously doesn’t excite him–until he’s stranded in a quaint mountain town and entranced by the gorgeous, smart, sexy, but adorably down-to-earth Emily. The banter between these two is fantastic, and gave me everything I love from a Carly Phillips read: flirty fireworks and a lot of witty fun, layered on top of characters with heads telling them not to fall in love but hearts that say otherwise. The second half of the book, where things get more complicated (and steamier!) between the two, was absolutely the best part for me. I loved the final resolution and all the dreamy sighs it gave me. Now to go one-click on Books 1 and 2!!
Emily’s life hasn’t exactly gone to plan, she has been helping her father keep the Inn that he opened going but it seems like a lost cause. She would love to sell it and get her father settled comfortably somewhere else so she can move forward with her own dream of opening a bakery. Parker’s dream of being a professional skier is no longer a viable one, after being in a series of accidents he can no longer preform like he could at one time. He is now stuck working in the family business and hates every minute of it. He would love to find another passion and get out of the rut the he has found himself in, it doesn’t help that his brother has gone through a bad break up and is always on the war path. Two people both dreaming of a different life and better times. When Parker is tasked with finding a resort that would suit the needs for a company retreat he gets a little bit edgy. He hasn’t been anywhere near a ski resort since his last accident. On the drive to look at a spot that might fit their needs he ends up with some car trouble and learns that it will be several days before the mechanic can fix the problem. Enter Emily, she has the only place that he can stay at in town. Follow along as these two dreamers dance around each other, both wanting things that they think they can’t have. They both try for a casual fling but soon learn that there is nothing casual in the feelings that they are each having. Can they come together and make both of their dreams a reality or is it to late for both of them? This was a great romance that brought its characters to life. You so want both of them to be able to realize that life doesn’t stop putting chances in front of you, all you have to do is take one.
Take Me Down is the 2nd book in The Knight Brothers Series. Although, technically this is the 3rd book. Take the Bride a novella just released. Parker Knight is the middle brother and this is his story.
Parker had to give up skiing in the Olympics after a couple of accidents. He is now working in the family business and Ethan (his older brother) sent him to check out a place for their corporate annual retreat. His car breaks down and he needs a place to stay.
He meets Emily when she tried to refuse him a room at her B&B but her father overruled her.
I loved reading about Parker and Emily’s story they have a little insta-love thing going on. I think that Parker is a problem solver and wants to help and Emily needs help but she doesn’t ask for it.
It’s great to read about these Knight boys! I am really looking forward to reading about Ethan in Dare Me Tonight. We have had glimpses of him and his sorrow & gruffness. I can’t wait to see him fall in love!
TAKE ME DOWN is the second full-length instalment in Carly Phillips contemporary, adult THE KNIGHT BROTHERS erotic, romance series focusing on the Knight siblings, owners of Knight Time Technology. This is former world champion skier Parker Knight, and pastry chef Emily Stevens’ story line. TAKE ME DOWN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Emily and Parker) TAKE ME DOWN follows Parker Knight as he is tasked with locating a suitable venue for Knight Time Technology’s corporate retreat. Having rerouted himself toward Denver Colorado, Parker found himself stranded with car trouble in the small town of Montlake. Needing a place to stay our hero landed at the local B&B run by father and daughter James and Emily Stevens. What ensues is the tempestuous but building relationship between Emily and Parker, and the potential fall-out as Parker’s time in Colorado comes to a close.
Emily Stevens doesn’t do relationships, and under the circumstances, has refused all outside attempts at seduction and dating. A previous relationship has left her emotionally unavailable, that is until, Parker Knight arrives on the scenes. Parker Knight also struggles with a former relationship in that he is still paying for sins of the past. Meeting Emily Stevens gives Parker hopes for a future, that will quickly be dampened when his time in Colorado comes with an expiry date.
The relationship between Parker and Emily is one of immediate attraction but Emily’s feisty and off-putting attitude leaves something to be desire. Believing Parker is nothing but a spoiled, rich city boy, Emily battles between head and heart as it pertains to her growing attraction to our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
All of Parker’s siblings play secondary and supporting characters including the long suffering eldest brother Ethan Knight. We are introduced to Emily’s father James, as well as her best friend and café owner Harper Sanders. Ethan’s story is next in the author’s Dare/Knight crossover novel DARE ME TONIGHT.
TAKE ME DOWN is a story of family, friendship, struggle and betrayal. There are moments romance and love; betrayal and vengeance; realization and forgiveness. The premise is engaging ; the romance is seductive; the character are spunky, sassy and energetic.
TAKE ME DOWN by Carly Phillips is book two in The Knight Brothers Series. This is the story of Emily Stevens and Parker Knight. I have read the previous book, but feel you could make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Parker was once a promising skier but after a bad injury has settled to be a part of the family business. Which doesn’t excite him and he just goes through the motions. When he is asked by the family to check out a resort in Colorado he goes forward to do so. When he ends up in a B&B run by Emily and her father he finds that Emily brings feelings out in him he hasn’t felt in a while …if ever. But Emily is guarded towards him and of curse is protective of her family business.
This was a great read…a page turner for me.
***5 Stars***
Such a fun read!
It was quick and filled with all the goodness of two people getting to know each other and finding that the pull they have towards each other is more than either had ever thought to find.
I adored Parker. This man has been through a lot more than most realize, even his own family who he is very close to, but he keeps on going and is simply surviving. But his easy going nature and charisma were just as lethal as when he decided to step in and take charge in the best of ways. I really liked Emily, but man did I want to reach out and shake some sense into her in the beginning. I understood why she felt and acted the way she did, but she went a little further than was necessary. But once she took a step back, her heart and sassy nature came through and I ended up loving her.
Their journey to their HEA started off on a very rocky foot, but I loved how Parker took it all in stride and showed Emily the kind of man he really was. Their bantering, even when a little biting, was fun and I loved watching them become closer and found that they were exactly what they never knew they needed and wanted.
It was really easy to get lost in Parker and Emily’s story. It was engaging and I loved getting to know them and watch as they worked through the issues that had been chasing them. I loved James and Harper, and hope that we’ll see more of them down the road, and getting to catch up with Sebastian, Ashley and Sierra was a lot of fun. And then there is Ethan. This man…all I can say is that I cannot wait to get my hands on his book and watch him fall!

I really enjoyed this book. Parker is so strong and capable and their chemistry is hot. I enjoyed watching Emily and Parker’s relationship blossom. I recommend this book and could see me rereading it in the future.
One thing you can always count on is that Phillips books are consistently fun to read, and with new stories every time! It is fun to be able to see characters grow and to have a new book take relationships in characters even further.
Love this author. Love this book
Parker…he’s just what every broken woman needs…
Well done Carly Phillips!
Hot and sexy story. Really loved Parker. He was absolutely wonderful. Emily came off as a bit cold and distanced in the beginning but she warmed up as the story developed and we get a better understanding of why she was so put off by Parker when they first met. Their whole relationship was just so satisfying to read. And there is a tissue warning towards the end but don’t worry there is a happily ever after. Overall a very happy sigh worthy read.
Book 2 in this great series. This is Parker’s story. A random trip to a resort courtesy of his eldest brother see Parker lose his heart to a woman who doesn’t trust city men. Why would she want love when he will just leave. A run in for Emily with Parker’s brother Ethan sees Parker re think his future with their family company. Will love win out between this couple? A great story from the knight brothers series.
Ethan Knight sends his brother Parker to Colorado to scope out a lodge for their company’s next retreat. When his car breaks down, Parker gets stranded and is sent to The Ruby Rose Inn, the only place for miles, while his car is being fixed. There he meets Emily Stevens. A woman who’s sworn off men. When Parker meets Emily, she gives him the cold shoulder. He reminds her of her ex, who was a total jerk. Parker is determined to prove to her that he is not like her ex. For the first time in a long time, he feels an attraction to a woman, and he’s not going to give up trying to win her over. Parker is up for the challenge, but are Emily’s walls too high to tear down?
Take Me Down is another great story by Carly Phillips.
Take Me Down was a great weekend read. Short, sweet, and sexy it has the makings of a great romance. I love a small town romance to start; Parker and Emily kicked it off with a bang, their spark lighting up the pages from the start.
There was so much to love in Parker’s story, the youngest of the Knight Brothers. He’d been lugging around his emotional baggage for so many years, he’d forgotten how to unpack. Until he met his match in Emily. Her emotional turmoil matched Parker’s, heart break for heart break, yet together they could find healing, they found joy, and ultimately their forever love. Yep get ready to swoon, Parker’s inner alpha had me clapping for joy on many occasions.
Take Me Down was just the escape I was looking for. Get ready to fall hard for Parker and Emily!
I knew this was going to be a great read from chapter one. I felt for Parker and his situation. I wanted him to have his HEA with someone who saw him as more than a pass to financial freedom.
I’m not surprised this book is a five star read for me. Carly has a way of setting up the story and introducing the characters in a way that gets the reader immediately invested in their well-being and where the story is going. She builds intrigue without too much angst. Just enough for you to want to see what happens next but not to where you feel like your gut drops. This one was a page-turner. Loved it!
I honestly can not say enough about this author. The Dare books are ones of my very favorite books ever, but The Knight Brothers have successfully wormed their way into my heart. I loved Sebastian (book 1) and I loved Sierra (their sister and book 1.5) and Parker’s book was no different. I really loved everything about this book. Emily is my kind of heroine for sure. She is strong and stubborn. She is vulnerable and quite a spitfire. I can not say enough about this book. Actually all of this author’s books are FANTASTIC!!! If you haven’t read this author be prepared because this book will make want to go and buy all her books. I must say that I am more than anxious to read the next book which is Ethan’s story. I fell in love with Ethan in book 1 and I am on pins and needles waiting for his book to come out. GO BUY ALL THIS AUTHOR’S BOOKS. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Review by Tabitha
Another terrific Knight brother to swoon over! And swoon I did over the hottie Parker with his handsomeness, his athleticism and his heroism. And when he comes to Emily’s rescue he’s dynamite. Emily might be leery of the hunky middle Knight brother but the chemistry is too hot to deny even if she’s been hurt in the past. Parker has a few demons of his own and Emily is the perfect fit to help him overcome his disappointment. As these two work to forge a new reality and a romantic connection it’s wonderful. Love this author’s storytelling and fabulous characters. Sexy romance and wonderful family. Just exceptional!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sweet & romantic. Really enjoyed this book. I’ve been waiting patiently for Ethan’s story…let’s go!!!!!
Oh how I love this family. They have wormed their way into my heart and I can’t get enough.
In this book they are looking for a place for a corporate retreat, one in the mountains. The person in charge of checking out the different resorts had surgery and now is unable to continue the search. Now the only Ethan can think of qualified to select such a place is Parker.
An Bronze Metal Olympic skier, Parker had sustained an injury during trials, followed by a car accident as he returned to the sport, that left him more than physically injured. He hasn’t been anywhere near the slopes since then. So this expedition isn’t exactly what he wants to do but perhaps it’s exactly what he needs.
As Parker is looking for the perfect place when his rental car starts acting strange so he stops at a small town garage. The car’s problem will have him stranded for a while. This is where things start to get interesting.
The recommend inn is not really open for business, and in a bit of disrepair, but the owner James Stevens has a dream to fulfill. His daughter Emily thinks otherwise and has a few demons to exercise thanks to her ex.
With a place to stay, Parker also finds himself attracted to the prickly Emily and interested in helping her father restore the inn.
Emily on the other hand, is fighting the attraction. He reminds her of her ex and he is undermining her plans for her father. Plans her father really isn’t interested in.
Fun, revelations, romance, suspense and so much more make this a page turning read.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Another great Knight Brothers story by Carly Phillip’s. This time up is Parker (aka Switzerland) and Emily Steven’s a Colorado local Baker and B&B owner with her father. A crazy ex in hot pursuit a local mechanic smitten for Emily add to the worry of her 50 plus year old dad and corporate raiders try to buy up the town. Parker and Emily had strong feelings and chemistry at first glance. We the be able to decide what’s best for both of them?
