If only men were for sale this time of the year. Then I could buy one, use him as a companion for my son who needs a male figure in his life, and then return him once we were all good again. But it doesn’t work that way. A friend mentions a Big Brother Program, and I’m all in.My little one gets what he needs, and I don’t have to sacrifice my freedom and worry about love loss again. The handsome guy … love loss again.
The handsome guy they assign my son isn’t at all what I expected. Nor are the warm fuzzies I get when I see him.
Come to find out, he’s not there for the best reasons.
But me and my kiddo have fallen in love with this unruly, aggressive alpha male.
There’s no way to work out the desires bubbling up inside of me and keep my morals in check.
And for the first time in my life, I want to make the wrong decision. The selfish one. The one just for my own deep, dark pleasures.
To find out that he’s beyond wealthy, just like my son’s father was, leaves me cold. I should run far from him.
My ex’s family made me sign a contract promising to never tell about the baby in my belly.
My life was forever changed.
Rich people are horrible people.
This new love interest is no different.
Yet I’m trapped in desire and drowning in need when he’s around.
With no way to take it down a notch.
Not sure I would if I could…
Every good girl deserves a bad boy. ~ Weston

This was a sensationally heartwarming new novel from Weston Parker about a man going through with no real direction in life and a warped perception of his parents; and a single mom trying to provide for her child yet has a misconstrued aversion to all people of means. Raeanne is a photographer who signs her son up for the Big Brother program in order to gain a good male influence in his life. Decan is a spoiled rich man with no direction in life and no life experience until he is court ordered to volunteer as a Big Brother as part of his community service. Things begin to change when he meets Raeanne and her son. Take It Down a Notch is a well written story filled with heartache, bitterness, lies, secrets, passion, life changing decision, witty banter, laughter, healing, forgiveness, and love. A captivating must read with wonderfully developed characters that readers will fall in love with. I absolutely loved reading this new novel.
“I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this novel.”
This might be my favorite story by this writer, so far! I love Raeanne and Declan’s story!! It’s intriguing and interesting. The story is well written and nicely developed. Raeanne is a single mother and has a reason not to trust or like wealthy people. Her 7 year-old son Lawson lacks for a male role model. Declan is just the person to be that male person in his life. Or is he? I enjoyed this story so much! Preconceptions, misgivings and twists and turns that keep you hooked.
Loved Declan and Raeanne and her son Lawson, amazing story. WOW, I love all of his books and this might just be my new favorite.
4.5 stars *****. “Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.” Declan put his foot in it when he didn’t ‘exactly’ lie to her, just kind of omitted some pertinent facts. Raeanne obviously was not attracted to his bank account, so that meant something. She had some very harsh preconceptions based on her previous experience. I know, this tells you nothing. The bottom line is when you don’t communicate honestly, or pretty close at least, you are setting yourself up for a blowout! I love reading Weston’s stories but he might have been a little distracted writing this one. Seems to coincide with a bird visit. For me, it started a bit sluggish but I persevered and it picked up quickly. It would be very close to real life and it’s relatable. Nicely written and a pleasure to read!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Raeanne is a single mother who is making it day by day. Her ex comes from a rich family who made him disown his son so it wouldn’t tarnish their image. Declan comes from a very wealthy family. He is a playboy who doesn’t know what to do with his life. It isn’t until he is charged with a crime and force to be a Big Brother that he sees he was on the wrong path. Raeanne’s son ends up with Declan as his Big Brother. Raeanne doesn’t know Declan’s past and if she knew she would pull her son out of the program.
Raeanne has definitely turned Declan’s world upside down. Fantastic book.
I love this book. You can still be rich and be a wonderful human being, but Raeanne has had horrible circumstances with really rich people. Raeanne hates rich families because when she was 16 her rich boyfriend got her pregnant and their entire family cut her out, legally. She was not good enough for their family. Her shy son Lawson needs a male influence in his life, so she signs him up for a big brother program where she meets Declan. When this book soars, you soar. When this book crashes, you crash. Raeanne does not know that Declan is a billionaire. And there are a few other things that he has kept from her too. When the truth comes out will Raeanne explode and ghost Declan or will she give him a chance to explain. I love the way this book is written where you can hear Declan thoughts, fears and hopes for a future with Raeanne and Lawson. You can just feel his sincere love and his truth in every sentence.
TAKE IT DOWN A NOTCH By Weston Parker
This is another very great read by Weston Parker. This story is about Declan, a trust fund playboy, Raeanne, a photographer single mom of Lawson. He is a seven year old highly intelligent, withdrawn quiet boy. When things go awry on a drunken night, Declan finds himself in the Big Brothers program. He never would have thought a young boy and his mom could change him. This is such a satisfying story with all the feels, emotions, drama, chemistry and very likable characters. Definitely 5 stars.
Another great read by Weston! I really liked that it featured Big Brother program and storyline around it was very well written. Lawson was the sweetest and smartest kid and he definitely stole the show for me! Raeanne and Declan had a great chemistry from the start, but there are still some secrets and drama on their road to a HEA.
I received an advanced copy of this book from author and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This has a single mother, a big brother, lies, mistakes and so much more. Declan comes from money but needs to grow up. He gets arrested and is forced to do community service as a big brother. Raenna is a single mother raising her son Lawson. His wealthy father doesn’t claim him. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.
I was on the edge of my seat with this book. The characters pulled at my heart strings and their story kept me turning pages! A highly recommended book! Check it out and see what I am talking about! I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance reader copy of the book from the author.
First of all, I love single mom/dad books. This book was great! Raeanne is a hard working mom and doing her best to raise her son Lawson by herself but she realizes her son needs a male presence so she signs up for the Big Brother program where they meet Declan. Declan is HOT and so swoon-worthy. They made a great couple and I loved the relationship he formed with Lawson, who was such an awesome kid. Great book!
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Another amazing book by Weston Parker that grabbed my attention from the very beginning! This outstanding read was well written with characters that were so well created that they kept me gripping the edge of my seat until the turn of the very last page!
Wow I absolutely loved Declan and Raeanne’s story. Declan is every bit of a bad boy playboy until he gets into trouble and finds himself doing a big brother sponsorship to clear his arrest off his record but one he meets Raeanne and her son can he change his ways and grow up and become the man she needs or will his families wealth destroy them? Raeanne will never forget what ppl from Money can do to you and doesn’t associate with any of them but when she meets her son’s big brother and thinks he is someone he’s not will his lies destroy what they have ? This book was so good and I found myself not being able to put it down. This is absolutely another great book from Weston Parker.
What a fascinating story Weston Parker! The story of Parker, Lawson and Raeann is heartfelt , sweet and heartwarming. The characters and the story is fabulous. I honestly volunteered to review this arc.
Raeanne is a single mother to seven year old Lawson. To bring a male figure into his life she enrolls him in Big Brothers where he is assigned with Declan who is not there by choice. The author does a fantastic job building the story with all the emotions throughout. He brings so many emotions as well as the drama, secrets, forgiveness, laughter and love. The characters are strong and well developed and I especially loved little Lawson who is so adorable and lovable. They have many obstacles to overcome as their relationship moves forward. I loved reading their story and would recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
“Oh what a tangled web we weave when at first we start to deceive.” It truly could be the catch phrase for this story. Declan lands himself in trouble, and as you can guess, isn’t completely forthright about it. To his credit, he learns and grows a great deal as a result. I can’t say there were any big surprises in the trajectory of Declan and Raeann’s story, but it’s just so darned cute, I couldn’t resist. Lawson charmed the socks off me with his quiet dignity and playful spirit. I’m a little sorry that the book is over already.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
A single mom gets her son assigned a Big Brother for a positive male role model. They make an instant connection and her son starts thriving in male attention.
I loved how little Lawson was the focus of mom and the other adults in his life. There is chemistry between Dawson (Big Brother) and Lawson. Also with mom Raeanne.
the adults have secrets they don’t want other to know. I really enjoyed and couldn’t put down.
Anther must read by Weston Parker.
The characters have past mistakes that they don’t want to be judge on. Declan is doing community service with Big Brothers. He is paired up with Lawson whose father is not present. Declan didn’t expect to be drawn to Lawson’s mom. It is an honest look at how someone can change your life and the way you look at it. I really like the use of a wonderful program being featured to bring attention to its program. The story was full of emotion and characters were realistic. I received an advance copy for an honest review.
Weston Parker never ceases to amaze me as an author. This is a wonderful book that grabbed my attention right at the beginning and had me losing sleep until I finished it. An emotional roller coaster and a beautiful love story all in one. the story of Raeann, a single mom and Declan, her son’s ‘big brother’ as part of his community service service. He’s a trust fund baby and she distrusts rich people because of her past relationship with her son’s parents. This is a very moving story that’s full of emotion and lots of steamy scenes. Two people from opposite backgrounds find they have a lot more in common besides chemistry. Well written with strong characters and an entertaining story. I read an advance reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
