Book 2 of this series delves deeper into the D/s dynamic as well as exploring how their relationship works in their lives. Families have drama and friends get involved and when a crisis hits, Declan shows his worth as a Dom in more than one way. A well told continuation to the story – not a standalone.
I’m reviewing the audio edition. This is the middle story in the trilogy. The great characters are getting a little past the new relationship. Here the personalities come out more. Owen is somewhat independent at least where money is concerned. I feel the rest of him comes across as pretty needy. There are more than a few twists in the part of the story and it kept me paying complete attention. I’m glad the same narrator, John Solo, did this section. He has a talent for giving personality to multi characters.
In this book we learn more about the experiences that shaped Declan and Owen into the men they became: Declan’s mother’s death and the reason for his father’s distance; Owen’s struggles while raising 3 children (Summer, Auggie and Oscar) on his own, his struggle to come to terms with James’ abandonment and reappearance into their lives, and his secret passion. We are privy to the first time Owen’s children meet Declan, which is incredibly entertaining.
I loved that Owen wore his emotions on his sleeve for all to see. I loved Declan’s fierce protectiveness of Owen. And I loved how Owen, Declan, Summer, Auggie, Oscar and James began their journey to become one big family.
Gianni Holmes has written another wonderful book. And as with the first book in the series, John Solo captured the personalities and emotions of each of the characters perfectly in the audio version.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Daddy/Boy relationships know no age limits.
What a great second book in the Taking Care series. If you haven’t read the first book, read it now! This book continues where it leaves off. The saga continues. All our old friends are back; Owen, Declan, Silas, Auggie, Oscar, Summer, James and Charles. You will love this book! I couldn’t put it down.
This furthers the relationship between Declan & Owen. Owen is nearly 47, but has no problem calling Declan “Daddy”. At 25, Declan runs a billion dollar company. He desperately needs his “Boy”. Their love is so deep and touching, even though is it still new. When an unexpected surgery brings them closer together, living together is the logical next step.
There are reunions, apologies, repentance, family angst, close calls, secrets, and wild sex. There are kinks & fantasies. There is more HEA. Get. This. Book. You will be glad you did.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex, and is intended for mature readers only.
Take Care of Me by Gianni Holmes is the second book in the Taking Care Trilogy. It is a wonderful contemporary romance with daddy kink… but with a twist of a younger Daddy to an older Boy. All three books tell the story of Owen and Declan.
Owen and Declan are amazing characters who make you fall in love with them. I adore their dynamic and need to see tgemget a fantastic Happily Ecer After. The supporting characters are also great as well. Ilove the interactions.
The story is sweet and fun. Gave me so many feels. I cant wait for the final installment.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
I freaking loved this book! It started right where the first book ended, so it’s not a standalone. After Declan’s surgery Owen moves in to take care of him. Even when Declan is physically unable to make love to Owen, he finds creative HOT ways to make him purr and sigh. I loved those moments, they established even deeper intimacy between men, and Owen felt completely secure in his role as Declan’s boy. He finally was able to let go and just enjoy everything Declan gave him.
Declan is recovering nicely. But life has a way of intruding. His friend Ridge makes a mess to clean up that makes Owen doubt himself, Declan finally wants to clear the air with his father because he hasn’t moved on from his mother’s death so long ago. I loved how he handled Owen and his insecurities by being stern yet loving Daddy. It was wonderfully written. He took care of Owen so well. And finally Declan and Charles talked. It was angry yet necessary. It was good to see Declan get closure and gave him a chance to forgive his father.
This book focuses on family, does not have anything drastic happen to characters since the family issues are enough for them to contend with. Owen is trying to bridge a gap between his daughter Summer and her other dad James. That does not turn out as expected, and after the dust settles he needs his Daddy for comfort. Declan is finally introduced to Owen’s kids and ex. That’s all kinds of funny and adorable, but Declan is patient enough to withstand Owen’s kids’ interrogation since they are now his family too.
This was a very well-written Daddy/Boy romance with enough steam that didn’t overwhelm the story but was very intense and passionate, with family issues finally resolved and Declan and his father finally finding their footing in their fledgling relationship, enough love and just a tad of angst to spice up the story. But Declan has been naughty. Oh, what did you do Declan and will Owen get upset when he finds out? I can’t wait to see the consequences, and how much Declan will have to make up for what he did! Awesome book and I highly recommend it!
