Simply Amazing!
I found this book simply Amazing! I love how well Maria Luis writes her characters. Jade is struggling to find herself after leaving Florida to make New Orleans her new home. She meets Detective Danvers and finds him attractive, but is she willing to get into a relationship again? They both have smoking hot chemistry, and they are a match in book romance heaven. I found this book to be a great read and didn’t want to put it down. This book was romantic, funny, sexy, and a great HEA.
Oh my goodness! What a book! This is my third book from this author, and they just keep getting better!
Jade is ready for a new start, so she lands in NOLA and gets a job working for the police crime lab. She meets Nathan through a mutual connection and while the sparks are flying everywhere they each have their own reasons for avoiding the obvious inevitability of their union. Nathan has his own troubled emotions to deal with, and the way Jade just sees right through him was priceless.
These two are so perfect together. Their flirtatious banter was hot and steamy and hilarious at the same time. Nathan is all kinds of sexy with just enough of an air of seductive danger to make panties melt instantly. Jade may not be able to resist his charms, but she sure can stand up to his BS!
Oh, and in the midst of all this hotness (and there’s a lot of it), there’s a murder mystery to solve. Jade and Nathan work together for the most part, when Jade’s not trying to go out on her own to investigate, regardless of the risks.
I absolutely loved the final scene in the hospital – not to give away any spoilers, but Nathan’s speech then had EVERYONE falling in love with him, guaranteed. I promise you, after reading this book you’ll never eat pizza (or even look at ties) the same way again! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Murder mystery, heat, humor, and friendship: this book has it. I love that Nathan is able to open up to Jade about his past. I love the trust they build so quickly together. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
Mixed feelings. Not my favorite by the author or in the series. Nathan and Jade have a good banter and chemistry but I felt there relationship was one sided when it didn’t need to be, Nathan shared more of himself with Jade then she shared with him. She hid things that didn’t need to be hidden that to me made no sense and was there only to create unnecessary drama. The mystery wasn’t very good and was easy to figure out and sorta boring. The story could have been way better than what it was.
Danvers and Jade are both people who are typecast into specific roles. Jade is the “weird” sister in her family. Danvers is joker, the funny guy, the one no one take seriously. Both have secrets. Moving from Miami to New Orleans for a fresh start, Jade has no interest in romance. She finally thinks she can be taken seriously in her profession in a new town. Forced together by well intentioned family, sparks fly from the beginning, though both refuse to acknowledge one another. I love Maria’s characters in this series. This book has humor, angst, romance and enough steam to keep you riveted. A great read that hopefully you enjoy as much as I did.
Danvers and Jade were so dam funny, cute, sexy , and both have some issues. Jade came to New Orleans to start over and concentrate on her career but than meets Nathan Danvers sparks fly. Can they both get over thee issues and be something together while trying to solve a murder. Great book Definitely recommend.
I really enjoyed this NOLA Heart Novel. Danvers and Jade have such an effortless connection and the chemistry is amazing between them. Before they can find true happiness with each other they each need to work through their own issues, which are interestingly the complete opposite…one has a strong desire for independence and the other needs to learn to lean on other people. Looking forward to Luke’s story!
Loved these two. Nathan is a hot as hell New Orleans homicide detective with a hard childhood, as in a dad that was an abusive alcoholic. Jade moves to New Orleans to work in the crime lab as a technician and get a new start to get away from her controlling mother, live her own life. These two meet at Nathan’s mom and stepdads house for dinner. His stepdad and her dad are friends, so his stepdad wants him to show Jade around….yup, you read that right *winks*.
We get a little suspense in this book, which I love. Nathan’s on a case that he thinks is an easy case, but ends up being a bit more difficult that he originally thought. And Jade helps him with it. Along the way, they break down each others walls to let the other in. These two have so much chemistry and they are a lot of fun too. This was a great safe read, with a lot of heat, no ow and a very tiny amount of om drama (just an ex that can’t except she broke up with him…her moms fault), with an epilogue and an hea. Now I am onto his sister Lizzie’s book…yay. Absolutely flove this series.
