A bad girl with a reputation, a single dad fighting for custody – love couldn’t have come at a worse time.I had no idea when Sadie Cole caught my eye, that she would also steal my heart. My daughter’s new dance teacher with her jet black hair and haunting blue eyes intrigued me. Her tight outfits and bare skin taunted me. Most importantly, she was amazing with my daughter. But Sadie’s reputation … daughter.
But Sadie’s reputation proceeded her… and I couldn’t afford any entanglements that would cost me custody of my daughter.
The more I spent time with her the more I realized the rumors were wrong— the town was wrong. I wanted to be the man she could count on. When what’s best for my daughter and what’s right for Sadie are in direct conflict, I hope I make the right choice.

Sadie’s dysfunctional life thanks to her mother set the tone for the outcome of her life. She had trust issues and basically kept to herself until she meets Tanner who happens to be the father of one of her dance students. Their connection will turn out to be beneficial for the both of them since they are experiencing some of the same things in their lives but Sadie’s past isn’t quite through with her and it could effect the outcome of a custody battle. Can she and Tanner weather the storm?
A man who will not give up on his love. We all need a little rock-steady in our lives.
This story is a smooth and easy read. The authors words create good visual of the main characters and a good sampling of how true children/adults can be harmed by gossip/untruths/abuse(s). I was thrown by the absence of “tragedy” before the “happy ending”. Not a bad thing at all, I just wasn’t expecting the characters to “trust” each other. Nice!
A welcome change of pace to read about realistic characters with a positive/HEA outcome.
It was good, the build up was great but the ending wasn’t as exciting as it could’ve been. Still good though
Story is just ok. This author’s writing style wasn’t for me.
Loved all her books I’ve read so far
This is a very compelling perspective on the affects of alcoholism on families. His and hers. I found confusing the concept that an attorney would plan on increasing her involvement in her secondary/part-time/make ends meet job … especially after things had worked out. There were elements about 12 step programs that did not represent the programs accurately. The most important one being having a fund raiser … 12 traditions do not allow income from outside fund raisers (only internal to meetings). If you like detailed lust filled sex, there are several instances of it. They don’t advance the story, so if you don’t care for them you can skim past them.
I thought this book was good. I was a few chapters in and I felt like I was missing somethings. Like I should already know who some of the characters are. It’s not major details that are missing, the best way to describe it is that you’re a new person in a group and no one really explains who anyone is, your just supposed to know. As this is a new to me author I looked her up on goodreads and found that this is book six in a series. I should of done more research first! I do believe that they are meant to be standalones. However I do feel like I’ve missed out on some of the back story. It was a good quick read. I liked Tanner and Sadie together. Rylan was adorable! I also liked that there was no long drawn out unnecessary drama. Overall I would recommend this book, but if you are a stickler for details I read the other books first.
Received an arc for an honest opinion
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
This is my first Lea Coll book and once I finished, I knew I had to add the rest of the series to my TBR. You don’t have to read the others to understand this one, but they are all interconnected.
Tanner and Sadie are a beautiful story of taking a chance, even when the odds are stacked. From the moment they meet, you feel the spark between them and you want everything to work out the way it needs to because they both deserve to have a happy ending.
The book definitely touches on some heavy topics and it felt like it was stuck on them at times, and there were times that I felt like I struggled to stay invested with how slow it went. That being said, once the pace stepped up, I was fully invested and couldn’t put it down at all.
Four stars for this beautifully written slow burn single father romance.
