He reaches Marietta determined to put the salon owner in her place and bring his grandmother home…until smart, kind Amanda starts to tug at his heart in ways he never expected.
But just as Tyler and Amanda start to form a real connection, will a long-buried family secret destroy their chance at love?
Praise for Take a Chance on Me
” The latest in Porter’s “Love on Chance Avenue” series (Miracle on Chance Avenue) is her best yet. She does an excellent job of making Marietta itself a strong character, while adding humor, charm, and swoons to great effect. Mandy and Ty are engaging romantic foils, with Bette’s meddling sweetness always there to stir the pot. This series continues to get better and better.” – Library Journal

Quirky little salon in Marietta, Montana houses one of the most prize possessions that Betty’s son could ever find Funny thing is when Ty came to town had no idea he was even looking for a treasure at all. My favorite fictional town is back this time author Jane Porter brings is a bit of a mystery mixed in with a wonderful romance. It is no secret if you read my reviews you know I love this fun town in Montana and this book did not disappoint me at all. It did answer some questions I had about one of my favorite characters in Marietta, Betty Justice. But this story is more about her son Tyler and Amanda or Mandy the lovely Salon owner. Funny thing is folks can understand when an older person and a younger person are friends. Someone always has to be “wanting something from the situation” right? Well, right but not right…. maybe. This book is well written and easy to read. It had me back in my adopted hometown as soon as I started reading and and there were so many fun things in this book that had me finding myself wanting to do in my own home… like add a splash of pink. (Read an see why.) Come for a visit and see if you can spot the blue door.
Great book
All of Jane’s books are great.
A well-written story involving social class conflict. Worth adding to your reading list.
A average read in the beginning. Then as their relationship developed he’s dreamy and she fights it. The things he says is romantic. Very swoon worthy.
Love Jane
Quick read that shows the love and commitment between two people. Loved the sense of community found in Marietta, Montana.
Loved it
Is it wrong that my favorite character was Tyler’s grandmother? She’s got grit and spunk and I definitely want her to adopt me. That’s not to say that the rest aren’t good too, but I dearly love that old lady.
There aren’t a lot of surprises here. It’s obvious that Bette is going to stay and that between her and Amanda, he’ll have a reason to move. And Amanda will need to face her history and address past hurts & secrets in order to be able to look to her future. You know things are going to work out but it is getting there that Porter makes work.
Wholesome and sweet (with a little drama to keep things hopping), Take a Chance on Me is one of those small town romances where by the end you want to move there and become friends with everyone.
(This is the first in this series that I’ve read, but it didn’t seem to make a difference so I think it can be read as a stand alone.)
**Review given honestly and freely after receipt of a reader copy. This opinion is completely my own and was not influenced in any way.**
This is a classic trope of the younger generation from elsewhere coming to move their elderly relation to live with them. This male gets off on the wrong foot by attempting to find out information without revealing who he is. He ticks off the person most important to him not ticking off. From there this nice clean romance plays out as he, like many of us, comes to appreciate Marietta, Montana, and his grandmother’s life and friends. Oh, and, of course, fall in love. Quite enjoyable, especially since Marietta is a favorite setting for me.
Tyler’s family came from Marietta and were very well to do. Tyler’s dad didn’t want to stay in Marietta so he left right after he graduated high school and went to college. Tyle was very close to his grandmother and when his grandmother talked a lot about Amanda, his grandmother’s hair stylist, he wanted to know more about Amanda cause he was afraid she was taking advantage of his very wealthy, very generous grandmother. Amanda had grown up in Marietta, but came from the ” wrong side of the tracks”, as they say. She worked very hard and had her own business. She met Tyler when he had a hair appointment. A beautiful standalone with an HEA. A beautiful love story with twists and turns you don’t expect and no language and no sex. Very refreshing!!
This book was easy to read, had a good story line and great characters. I enjoyed reading it!
You will love Bettye!
Excellent story and very entertaining.
good read
Always a pleasure to read a Jane Porter book!
A nice little story with some interesting twists and turns.
I enjoyed the optimistic viewpoints of the characters. It’s light and a smile maker.
I loved reading this story.
TAKE A CHANCE ON ME, written by Jane Porter, is a tale the good and bad of small-town life. Everyone knows everyone else’s business. Growing up on the wrong side of town can be a stigma that follows a person (family) through their entire lives. Tyler is in Marietta to make sure Amanda is not taking advantage of his grandmother, Bette. After meeting Amanda, he finds that there is a whole lot more to stylist, Amanda Wright than he initially thinks. She is intelligent, compassionate, honest, and downright gorgeous. Something is bound to happen between the two while disagreeing about what is best for Bette.
