He’s searching for absolution. She wants her happily ever after. Solomon Clarke goes by Saint, though he’s anything but. After lusting for him from afar, the masquerade party affords me the anonymity to pursue that attraction without worrying about the fall-out of hooking-up with the bouncer from the Hawkeye Club. From the second he lays his eyes and hands on me, I’m helpless to resist him. Even … me, I’m helpless to resist him. Even burying myself in a dangerous investigation can’t erase the memory of our combustible connection and one night together. The only problem… he has no idea who I am.
Caroline Brooks thinks I don’t see her watching me, the way her eyes rake over me with appreciation. But I’ve noticed, and the party is the perfect opportunity to unleash the desire I’ve kept reined in for so damn long. It also sets off a series of events no one sees coming. Events that leave those I love hurting because of my failures. While the guilt eats away at my soul, Caroline continues to weigh on my heart. That woman may be the death of me, but oh, what a way to go.
Life isn’t always clean, and sometimes, it takes a saint to do the dirty work.

Tainted Saint is the fifth novel in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. This is my eighth novel by this author.
I am always excited when I hear that this author has a new book coming out. Especially when it comes to this series that I love so much.
Saint knows what he wants and he wants Caroline. Will she finally act on her feelings or will she run before anything can become on it?
I love the suspense and progression as the story continues.
I really enjoyed the the connection between Saint and Caroline.
With that ending, I am so excited for the next novel!
Tainted Saint (The Hawke Family Book 5) by Gwyn McNamee is a five star novel. I have been in love with this series from the moment I knew it existed! This series will keep you on your toes and create steamy bedroom romance. The bedroom scenes in this novel will have you crying for more, but it is so much more than just that. When Caroline and Saint have their first encounter, they did not know how badly the other wanted that to happen between them. Neither one thought they were good enough for the other for whatever reason. After a month passes, Saint decides to make his move and Caroline at first is a little bit weird about it but she finally loosens up and lets Saint in. When Caroline starts looking into helping the Hawke family with an ongoing issue, Saint tells her to stop but she doesn’t want to.
5 Stars
Tainted Saint is the fifth book in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. WOW! I knew as soon as I heard that Saint and Caroline were getting their own book that it would be sooo good, and Ms. McNamee didn’t disappoint!!! With the all the sizzle Ms. McNamee is so great at, as well as some drama, suspense, danger, intrigue, and so much more- this book felt much bigger than a novella. As with every book I have read of Ms. McNamee’s, I devoured it as soon as it hit my kindle.
This book could be read as a standalone, but I strongly suggest reading all the books in their correct order to get all the backstories, character information and other relevant details- which will enhance your reading pleasure. But be prepared to get a serious addiction to Ms. McNamee’s stories and characters- one book certainly won’t be enough!
I highly recommend this book, and the entire series- as you are sure to become as addicted to her stories, as I am. She should definitely be on everyone’s ‘must read’ list!
Can’t wait for the next book!!!
Thank you, Ms. McNamee!
I loved this book. It is not a stand alone, I highly suggest reading this series in order, you won’t regret it. I loved that we get to see the characters from the previous books in this one as well. This is Saint and Caroline’s story. One chance meeting at a party and fate playing a part, you get a growing relationship. They are great characters that are strong and have great chemistry. They are well written and really pop off the pages. Twists and turns you won’t see coming. A must read!
Tainted Saint by Gwyn McNamee a five-star read that will have you on your knees. This is number five in the Hawke Family saga and it’s the first novella and it was sublime. The length felt enough that you didn’t miss any details, it’s the first main character that isn’t a Hawke family member well not by blood anyhow, but Saint is something to everyone in the family. It was so nice to hear his story, see him come out of the shadows and get to see what makes Caroline tick.
Saint and Caroline are strong, well developed characters and they are perfect together. I loved their chemistry and how protective Saint is over Caroline This well written, emotional read is full of action, drama, angst, suspense, steam, heart, and a great romance. I definitely recommend you start this series from book one Savage Collision, and believe me you are going to love this series!
I am so addicted to this series! As soon as I started Saint & Caroline’s story I had this moment of utter contentment – like I was home while reading this talented authors fantastic words. I genuinely adore every aspect of her writing! Gwyn is a one-click author for me. I don’t even have to read the blurbs first. Another must read – all the ever lovin’ stars!
With each installment in the Hawke Family, I develop a deeper attachment to these characters. And this being a novella means I got all the nitty gritty (wink wink) even quicker. Although I may consider that a downside now that I am at the end – because I ALWAYS want more! Once I started this book I didn’t want to put it down but wanted to stretch it out at the same time – the struggle is real, yo!
Saint & Caroline share a wicked hot night. The cat and mouse that ensues, angst and delicious build up is panty melting. Saint knows what he wants and is ready to make his move. Will he send Caroline running scared or will she succumb to the pull she feels for this dark piece of alpha yumminess? Add the magnificent suspense to this storyline and I’ve got the perfect steamy, sexy, thrilling read that kept me panting or holding my breath for what would come next. Caroline’s aspirations at work can land her in a lot of danger – will she be caught up in a web of deceit? Find herself the target of some ruthless mo-fo’s? The anticipation…EXCEPTIONAL! I love guessing how things will unfold only to be shocked stupid – yes give me more. I need it all.
I am also a huge fan of how Lucas’ story is being slowly introduced – Steele Resolve cannot come soon enough because I am absolutely certain that book will rock my Romantic Suspense loving heart. Give momma some M/M lovin’ oh ya I can’t wait!
Tainted Saint is a novella in Gwyn McNamee’s Hawke Family series. You must read all of the previous books in this series in order to fully enjoy & follow the overlapping storyline.
Tainted Saint focuses on characters we’ve met in previous books…Saint (who works security for Savage & Gabe in the clubs) & Caroline (a reporter & Dani’s best friend).
A chance meeting for these two at a masquerade “party” kicks off a story that has everything I’ve come to expect from Gwyn…it’s a smoking hot, sexy story with a few surprising twists along the way. As always Gwyn gives us characters that you just can’t get enough of & can’t help but love. I’ve found other novellas lacking when it comes to the believability of a couple’s relationship & the “insta-love” feeling. But I’m happy to say that was not the case with this story. Gwyn does a great job developing their relationship & making it believable.
If you haven’t already met the Hawkes, I recommend you go get Savage Collision & start your journey with this amazing cast of characters! And for those of you who are like me & absolutely love the Hawkes, this story does not disappoint!
Did someone turn up the heat in here?? Tainted Saint was hot as hell! I love the Hawke family, and that includes everyone in their circle of friends. Solomon damn near melted my panties (ok, he did)! He and Caroline had amazing chemistry, and I hope you’ve all read the Hawke stories, because they do appear here, with some bits and pieces from Building Storm. I love this series, and each story just makes me want to become one of them even more. This was one amazing story, with Solomon trying to find his redemption and reward, and Caroline being his guiding light. Beautiful, sexy, and just an amazingly done lead-in to the next Hawke story!
You won’t regret reading this.
Whilst this is shorter than the other Hawke family books, it is still a hot and engaging read. I really liked both Caroline and Saint, we’ve met them briefly in previous books, but we really get to know them here. Caroline was strong without being bitchy or aggressive and Saint was an alpha with a gooey centre.
The book is a well written bridge between Building Storm and the next book, featuring ‘Steele’. Whilst this can be read as a stand alone it contains huge spoilers for B Building Storm , so I would at least read that. That story also provides some background that makes reading this richer.
It’s a very NSFW read, the heat levels are high in this one! What I did love was that although we didn’t experience all of it, this was a relationship that built over weeks and months, rather than days. I believed in their relationship and felt the connection between them. This is a must read for any fan of the author, not to mention anyone wanting a quick, steamy and wonderful read.
Loved Saint and Caroline this book had all the feels.Very addicting from start to finish.Love this family.Need more
Wow! I was totally hypnotized by this story and the characters that were showcased in this outstanding book! The storyline was so well written, the plot flowed easily throughout the entire book and the characters were so well written with great detail and depth which kept me totally glued to my kindle until the end! I really liked Saint and Caroline together, I felt that they were so good together and belonged together which made this book well worth the read! This is the fifth book in a series that you should really take the time to read, you definitely will not be disappointed!
This series just keeps getting better and better! I really enjoyed the instalust/love between the two of them. The family story line continues and it is reving up to be explosive. While it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading from the beginning for the maximum enjoyment.
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Excellent job
WOW! Tainted Saint took me on a ride I was not expecting! Taint and Caroline are on fire together. They are both very strong personalities and they complement each other perfectly. While they wade through their feelings and Caroline continues to try Saint’s patience, more secrets and danger are exposed. The mystery surrounding Luca Abello continues with some shocking revelations uncovered.
This novella was a perfect segue into Steele Resolve which is now on top of my 2019 most anticipated book list where we will see more of the dangerous, mysterious, and oh so sexy Luca Abello. Luca is such a sweet talker, and I want to believe everything he says, I want to like him. He must be a master manipulator because he has me convinced but that blurb for the next book tells me I’m wrong.
I am sure more darkness and trouble is lurking for the Hawkes, and while I eagerly await the release, I am saddened that this series is coming to close. The Hawke series has been one of my very favourite. I recommend it to all romantic suspense lovers. Gwyn is a fantastic story teller and she has build a wonderful world of characters who have survived very traumatic events in their lives. Of course survived is the end result. The journey they have travelled has been full of turmoil, grief, drama, and danger. The books are page-turners from start to end. They do need to be read in order to fully understand and get the most enjoyment from them.
I loved this return visit to the Hawke Family world!
This novella packs in two main storylines: Saint and Caroline’s romance and an updated look at Luca, Dom’s son, and why he’s in town. If you haven’t read the previous books, you’ll be a little lost as to why it matters, so go ahead and read those first. Saint and Caroline’s love story is completely covered, start to HEA, in this book.
And what a love story! I just wish there was more. We see the beginning, how they passed from acquaintances to lovers, and we see a bit more of them as the story moves on to focus on Luca. The conflict they have is minor and handled with little fuss, as the real angst in this story is the way the entire Hawke family and friends react to Luca’s presence in their midst.
As with the earlier books, there’s plenty of steamy times and a strong emotional foundation. If you don’t immediately fall in love with Saint, you should get your heart checked to make sure it’s still there. The writing is insightful and intelligent, with believable, well-developed characters and dynamic world-building. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Saint is definitely no saint. If you want a sweet story with sparkly rainbows, and fluffy kittens- this is not the book for you. The story starts off sexy, considering where it picks up- a different perspective of a scene in Building Storm. That doesn’t mean that it’s the only scene like it, because this is written by Gwyn McNamee after all and since you’ve read this far in the series you know to expect more. It may be a shorter story than the main Hawke family books, but its just as good. And if you haven’t read the rest of the series, do that before you read Saint and Caroline’s story to get the full effect.
I had to put the book down to do some other stuff, but I didn’t want to put it down. This isn’t as intense/heavy/angsty as the other books. I didn’t feel it was anyway. So I was able to read through it faster because I didn’t need to pause and process what I had read. A good read, and I was glad to see a bit more of the Hawke family.
I loved this book! I love books in series when we get the families and those connected to them! I loved Saint before this book, but after getting to see inside his head, I am totally enthralled! I loved their love story. That is not to say we don’t see trouble ahead. I knew Caroline was in the middle of it. We get a plot line that is still unraveling, but we get one more step toward it. If you haven’t read this authors books, you are missing out!
