Chase Calloway’s career ending football injury gave him the out he needed.Switching gears from being the star quarterback with a shot at the NFL to checking anal glands of furry senior patients wasn’t exactly the plan. However, it gave him the purrfect excuse to stop pursuing dreams that were never his. Winnie Grey got exiled from her posh existence to the boondocks as pet-sitter extraordinaire. … extraordinaire.
It wasn’t her fault she stopped a shoplifter by pulling the fire alarm and got fired from her job. She can’t help that dog acupuncture makes her faint, but lucky for the city girl in exile, the town’s hottest veterinarian catches her, literally.

Winnie and Chase are great together. I love how the story starts out with her being jerked around with three dogs and then fainting in the vets office, where Chase catches her. There were definitely funny parts to their story. And Chase’s sister was annoying n bratty…but that’s her personality. The ending left some questions but overall good story.

So amazing!! Love the erotic scenes and chemistry. Interesting story, so action packed. Could not put it down.
Tailwind can be read as a standalone but the story is part of Love By Design series. It is a cute romantic story with lots of humorous situations, great friendships, steamy encounters and undeniable chemistry. The storyline captures you in with all laughing-out-loud moments and you forget about all your problems. All of the characters are likable and realistic, even show some growth.
I really enjoyed reading this romantic comedy!

M.C. Cerny has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Winnie and Chase. Whinnie has been sent to house/dog sit for her aunt for the summer. She got in trouble and her mother has sent her to her aunt’s as a punishment. She is out walking her aunt’s three dogs when she gets a call from her aunt telling her that her basset hound, Pumpkin has a vet appointment at 11:00 for acupuncture that morning. Winnie gets to the vets but she is late. When Winnie meets the vet, he introduces himself as Dr. Chase Calloway. Winnie faints as Chase puts the first needle in Pumpkin. She wakes up in his lap since he is holding her. Chase has gotten a call from his sister and she wanted to know if he was bringing someone to their mother’s Fourth of July barbeque? He said that he was bringing a date so that his mother didn’t try and fix him up with someone. On Winnie’s next visit to the vet, Chase asked her if she would like to go to his mother’s Fourth of July barbeque with him. She said yes that she would go. They start seeing each other and things seem to be fine. The longer she is with him the more her feelings grow for him. She is only to be there for the summer but now she doesn’t know if she wants to go back home. Chase is falling for Winnie and he hopes that he can talk her into staying.
Can Chase talk Winnie into staying with him?
Will Winnie stay or go back home?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Be prepared to have plenty of laughs as you read this story. She’s the big city girl and he’s the small town vet, but opposites attract right? As you follow their journey of romance, you’ll laugh out loud and have a constant smile on your face This is a perfect escape from everyday life when you need a break.

I love this series! This group of friends is almost too much, at times totally hilarious. Chase’s family is a riot, with being the oldest in the group of friends it was surprising he hooked up with someone so young and just starting to mature, what a merry story.

Four & Half Stars – This story about Winnie Grey who was raised in “The Hamptons” is sent upstate New York to a small town to house sit her Aunt and Uncle’s three unruly pets -Roswell, Pumpkin and Bailey- while they are away vacationing. Winnie gets a call from her Aunt that “Precious” needs to go to it’s acupuncture appointment and not knowing which dog is “Precious”, Winnie takes all the dogs to the Vet. Being berated by the receptionist Sharon for being late to the appointment, Winnie waits. Taking the dogs into the exam room she meets Dr. Chase Calloway who notices the bedraggled attractive Winnie. Putting Pumpkin – aka Precious on the table, Winnie watches Chase press the needles into Pumpkin and faints which Chase catches her before she hits the floor. Waking up woozy, Winnie decides to wait outside until Pumpkin is done. When Winnie is leaving the Vets, Sharon calls her to make another appointment for Bailey the next week. Walking home with the dogs, Winnie thinks about the attractive Dr. Calloway, can she last thru the ten weeks? This is a cute romantic, humorous story I enjoyed reading with very likable characters in this ARC I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout.
When Winnie has to leave the city to spend a summer taking care of her Aunt’s house and dogs, she is not happy about it. The plus side is the sexy veterinarian named Chase. Winnie and Chase have an attraction to each other but Chase is looking for something series and he isn’t sure if Winnie is here to stay or if she will leave when Summer is over.
Cute story ( even though Winnie was a bit aggravating at times) but I did enjoy the story. Romantic, funny and some steamy (low burn) scenes .

Who is wagging who?
Tailwind is the fourth book in the Love By Design series and is a fun addition to it. The story if about Winsome “Winnie” Hana Gray-Yoshidaand Chase Calloway and more than a few dogs which bring them together. I have read the other books in this series and enjoyed this and this one was the same. The story-line is funny at times, has a bit of drama and romance along with being sweet and at times sexy. It made for a very nice read.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
The Love by Design books are always entertaining. In Tailwind, Winnie is the type of person you want to be friends with because she will always be able to make you laugh no matter the subject. Winnie and Chase had me laughing by themselves, but add in the other characters (Roswell, Bailey, Pumpkin, and even Kristen and Damien), and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Ms. Cerny has a wonderful sense of humor, and her books reflect this. I am still laughing over this one.

Winsome and Chase are such a hoot! She is a spoiled city girl sent to dog sit for her aunt and falls for the veterinarian who also falls for her. There is a couple of pretty hot scenes that I wouldn’t want to be caught reading in public and laugh out loud scenes I wouldn’t want to share with most. Such a fun book with great friends, some rivalry and great connections! Check this book out if you like fun banter and a playful couple.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Winnie has been left to take care of her relatives dogs while they travel. It is not where the spoiled girl expected to end up but her parents did not leave a choice. Chase had a retiring injury from football and now is the local veterinarian. They meet when one dog needs acupuncture. Winnie is not fond of needles and faints. Chase saves the day and these two realize they are very attracted to each other. Their story is funny and sweet with a little steam

This is a light enjoyable read. It had me laughing from start to finish. I loved the mischievous animals. Their antics were one source of my many laughs. Not gonna lie some of the characters are crazy and they had to the humor. I had to warm up to Winnie a bit. Winnie is in town because her latest stunt has her in hot water. Though this punishment may be a blessing in disguise especially when she gets a peek at the town’s veterinarian. I loved Chase. I mean you can’t go wrong with a guy who loves animals. Chase is also good for Winnie. To me he grounds her and makes her take time to take a breath. Both Chase and Winnie are going to truly understand things happen for a reason. There is one part of this book with Chase in the hospital and what comes after that had me bursting up laughing. It’s also Awkward with a capital A. This is a perfect read to forget the world and problems for a bit. The characters pull you into their story and drama.
Tailwind by M.C. Cerny is book 4 in the Love by Design Series. It’s the story of an ex-college football star turned veterinarian and a trust fund baby who is broke and a little lost.
Chase and Winnie couldn’t be more different, but when they meet at an acupuncture visit for one of the dogs Winnie is pet sitting, there is an instant attraction.
I did enjoy the book, but felt like it was missing something. It seemed like lust and crazy situations were all that were holding them together as a couple.
Regardless, I will go back and read the previous books in this series. There were a lot of characters introduced during a BBQ, that seemed interesting and I’m guessing are stars of those books.
Winnie Gray is pet and house sitting for her Aunt Helen much to her dismay. Now she has to watch one of the dogs get acupuncture but she faints into the arms of the seriously handsome vet Dr. Chase Calloway. Chase has never met a more interesting person than Winnie Gray. She’s a breathe of fresh air to Chase’s life. Can the two meet in the middle? Your answers await you in Tailwind. Until next time Happy Reading!
Good book! This was my first book in this series & I didn’t feel lost. However, now I’m ready to go back & read about these other characters & how they got their HEAs!
Tailwind is the fourth book in M.C Cerny’s Love By Design series. A sweet funny opposites attract with an age-gap romance, set in a small town. It can be read as a standalone but all the characters from the books before and after this one make an appearance. The friendship they all have is very obvious so it will make you want to go and read the other books, or at least find the one that is about the character you liked the most in this one. The start is good and sets the scene for the fun ahead between Winnie Gray and Dr Chase Calloway.
Winnie has finished college and not had much luck with jobs. After her latest catastrophe, her mother packs her off to her aunt’s to dog-sit for the summer. She is a city girl used to an expensive lifestyle, full of bravado, attitude and sass when she first arrives. She actually is a bit of a scatterbrain who has no idea what she wants to do or be. Seeing her cope with being cut off from her trust fund and facing a reality check provides some funny events. It made me laugh as she tries to deal with the three dogs she pet-siting and I loved the scene where she first meets Chase.
Chase changed careers when he was badly injured playing football. During rehab he realises it is his opportunity to follow his dream of being a Veterinarian even though it is going against his dad’s plans for him. He runs the Vet Clinic in his hometown and is immediately taken with Winnie when she brings the dogs in for an appointment. Luck is on his side when he ends up catching her as she faints during him performing acupuncture on Pumpkin.
We get a fun build up to their relationship as they get to know each other and some steamy bedroom scenes when Chase lets his alpha side emerge. They both struggle with the idea of commitment, think they will only last the summer and will fizzle out once she goes back to the city. Chase knows and accepts they are different. I liked how he was open to any possibilities, cajoled her into his way of thinking and calmed her when she over-reacted to things. Winnie knows he wants things she doesn’t but she does start to wonder if she could want these things too. I found once they started dating it all becomes very vague and we don’t get the development of their relationship.
I found his sister Kristen very annoying and a real pain to Chase who was a great big brother to her. I think you definitely need to read her and Damien’s book to understand their dynamics as at times it over shadowed this couple’s story.
To me it became very disjointed as the story developed. Seemed like the author had lots of stories she wanted to tell the reader about the couple but there was no fluidity between them. The pet-sitting faded out and I’d almost forgotten about the dogs at her aunts, as she was always at his house. It was a shame as the book started off so well and I was looking forward to it after reading the blurb, but it petered out. I found the end very abrupt and although the epilogue fun with a nice HEA, I felt cheated out of how they made it to that point as we never get to find out how they worked things out. It left me with a lot of questions as there were a lot of loose ends left.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this as an ARC
MC Cerny delivers a phenomenal addition to an already loved series. Winnie and Chase will make you snort laugh, swoon, and sigh with heartfelt emotion. And for anyone who has furr-babies, the four legged characters will have you nodding in absolute understanding while grinning ear to ear.
Review of eBook
He was the star quarterback with a shot at the National Football League, but a career-ending injury turned Chase Calloway from a jock to a veterinarian. Not that he minded the switch . . . .
Winnie Grey, exiled from the city to New Paltz, finds herself dog-sitting three unruly pets while her aunt and uncle travel. When Pumpkin needs acupuncture, she heads for the vet’s office, only to faint dead away at the sight of the needles.
Ever the gentleman, Chase catches Winnie before she hits the floor; now will the two find themselves seeking a happily ever after together?
This story, part of the author’s Love By Design series, works as a stand-alone; its focus is the developing relationship between Chase and Winnie. The characters are believable, the situation realistic. However, the story is not particularly deep and does not delve into all aspects of the growing relationship. Winnie changes as the story unfolds, but readers are not privy to the process of her growing out of her self-absorption. Nevertheless, the story is enjoyable and readers are apt to find themselves rooting for Chase and Winnie.
This charming story offers readers a plethora of laugh-out-loud moments, sexy romantic interludes, and the support of good friends. It’s a sweet story sure to please readers who enjoy romantic comedy.
Recommended.
