#1 New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown returns with a potent fusion of tantalizing suspense and romance, in a thriller about a reckless pilot caught in a race against time. Rye Mallett, a fearless “freight dog” pilot charged with flying cargo to far-flung locations, is often rough-spoken, usually unshaven, and he never gets the regulation eight hours of shut-eye before a flight; but … hours of shut-eye before a flight; but he does have a rock-solid reputation: he will fly in the foulest weather, day or night, and deliver the goods safely to their destination. So, when Rye is asked to fly into a completely fogbound Northern Georgia town and deliver a mysterious black box to a Dr. Lambert, he doesn’t ask why–he just ups his price.
As Rye’s plane nears the isolated landing strip, more trouble than inclement weather awaits him. He is greeted first by a sabotage attempt that causes him to crash land, and then by Dr. Brynn O’Neal, who claims she was sent for the box in Dr. Lambert’s stead. Despite Rye’s “no-involvement” policy when it comes other people’s problems, he finds himself irresistibly drawn to the intrigue surrounding his cargo…and to the mysterious and attractive Brynn O’Neal.
Soon Rye and Brynn are in a treacherous 48-hour race to deliver the box before time runs out. With the hours slipping by and everyone from law enforcement officials to hired thugs hot on their heels, the two must protect their valuable cargo from those who would kill for it–that is, if they can trust each other.

Romantic intrigue ! Have enjoyed her books for years – one of the best !
Not up to speed. Miss Brown usually does a much better job of developing what I call sexual tension between her bad boy and sweetie. This one was a disappointment. She usually turns on the heat to the point I have to cool down the bedroom so to speak. The plot was so so. Glad this wasn’t the first of her books I’ve read or I wouldn’t have come back for more, more, more.
Good read. Sandra Brown tends to follow a basic formula in her books but gives each some interesting twists. I enjoyed this one more than her last two.
Anything written by Sandra Brown is worth the read. Started reading her books when she was all about romance. I really not this genre better (suspense and romance),
I like most of Sandra Brown’s books. This one kept me on my seat and engaged. The characters were interesting. Most of her books follow this same kind of plot line but it works for her and I always like the happy ending.
Another great book by Sandra Brown!
I throughly enjoyed it. This one of my favorite authors.
Sandra Brown is a great author, enjoy her books very much. This one has so many twists that it keeps you guessing. I recommend this story to anyone who like her books or anyone who likes mysteries.
I am a huge fan of Sandra Browns books but this one was not my favorite. It had a lot of action but slow and not one I was dying to finish.
Draggy book, could have been written in half
Fast paced exciting read! I really liked the main characters and I was rooting for them to help a very sick little girl! Finally, I wanted them to fall in love. True to Sandra Brown it was not easy for them by any means!!! All of this happened during a very rainy Thanksgiving weekend…
Not as good as some of her other books.
Hard to put down. Wanted everything to turn out the way it should. Some pretty evil people. and you don’t want them to win
I love Sandra Brown’s books, and think I have read them all. Loved the story even though was a bit unbelievable at times, but I still loved the characters in this story.
Tailspin begins with a storm and a pilot who likes to pursue challenging flights. He’s what we call a freight pilot. He’ll fly under any circumstances. When another pilot turns down a job due to weather, Rye Mallett doesn’t think twice and says yes. His destination is to fly to Georgia and deliver the cargo to a doctor by the name of Lambert. The cargo he’s flying is a black box with unknown contents but he knows the contents have to be important enough to be asked to do so with the current conditions.
To his surprise, when he gets there, Dr. Lambert is nowhere to be found. Instead, Dr. Brynn O’Neil is there and she wants to take the box. Rye knows something is amiss and he wants to know what’s inside the box. He doesn’t think that Brynn is telling him the whole truth. Soon it’s clear that someone covets the contents inside the box and they will stop at nothing to get it.
I loved Rye and Brynn together. There was a bit of romance to the story but I really felt like it was a smaller part of the story although it was very well done. Rye really was a stand up guy who refused to cross certain lines and looked out for others. Brynn grew on me throughout the book. At first I wasn’t sure about her but as pieces of her past came out along with her intentions I grew to love her. I loved that these two were able to work so well with each other to meet their goals.
I thought that this book was very well written with a fairly complex plot. There was a whole lot of excitement, characters that had me cheering for them, and a few villains that were kind of fun to hate.
I loved Tailspin – literally could not put down. I loved the characters (Rye!), the story, the writing . . . and, of course, the gifted Sandra Brown being the gifted Sandra Brown, there were great twists, turns, and surprises I did not see coming (even though – knowing Sandra Brown – I was looking!) Brava!
Disappointing for a S Brown book!
Not one of her best. I was disappointed.
It’s ok but a lot of romance stuff and too little flying stuff!
Rye Mallett feels most comfortable in the air, as an accomplished pilot he earns his keep delivering cargo, to places some wouldn’t dare to travel. Come rain, shine, sleet, or any other unsavory weather condition Rye gets the job done, he is good at what he does, and has all the confidence in the world in his skills. But his current job inspires a few doubts, from the word go this mission has been jinxed, the weather didn’t cooperate, the client made him more than a little nervous, and then when he attempts to land at his destination, his plane becomes the center of a sabotage.
Then if that wasn’t enough to cause concern he meets the person who is supposed to be the recipient of the cargo, and it leads him to believe he has just become an unwilling participant in an elaborate sham. And he doesn’t like that one bit, he was hired to do a job, and he intends to stick around and make sure it is done right, no matter the cost. But that also means spending lots more one on one time with the beautiful doctor who he thinks is deceiving him… and that’s a whole new kind of trouble this pilot wants nothing to do with!
Between the pages of Tailspin you will find a suspenseful and thrilling tale certain to keep teetering you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. Rye and Brynn promise to keep you completely captivated from the moment they wander onto the page, with the constant action happening around them, and also between them, you are sure to be glued to the words! This newest offering from Ms. Brown was everything I hoped it would be, and so much more, it was romantic suspense at it’s best. I highly recommend you get your hands on this one, I guarantee you will love what you find in the pages of this one!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
