Never tell them what we are, Shannon’s grandmother had always said.Working as a faux-Reiki healer in her local veterinary clinic, Shannon uses her psychic abilities to help sick or anxious animals, worried that one day people were going to see past the New Age façade she’d constructed. With good cause.Men from the newly created Capricorn Institute bring her to the newly renovated prison on the … renovated prison on the hill to work her wiles on their beasts, creatures she’d thought she’d only ever seen in a zoo, but they don’t respond to her psychic overtures like a normal animal would.
Because they aren’t.
Beautiful, wild, Shannon’s about to find out the truth about the Big Bad Wolf and all of his apex predator friends. These sexy shifters track her every movement, memorise her scent, because even from behind bars, they’re hunting her. Physically, psychically, these men will use whatever tactics they can to get what they want: her.
THERE IS AN EXTENSIVE TRIGGER WARNING INSIDE THE START OF THE BOOK. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO READ IT.
This is book one in a brand new super steamy series from the author of the Pack Heat series. If you love hot shifter romance, you’ll love Tail ‘Em. Some MM

fated mates are thrown into a nightmare situation. Alpha shifters being imprisoned by humans and treated like lesser beings. Don’t miss this epic story about strength and the power of fate. Oh and love.
“They called me rabbit girl, but I was more than that. Away from pack rules and the world, when it was just the two of us? My other hand slid up the front of his jeans to the musical sound of his growl, cupping the long, hard length of him. The rabbit stared the wolf down, and he snarled in response.”
-Tail ‘Em
Tail ‘Em is every reverse harem lovers wet dream. Seriously. The sexy times are beyond HOT and the story had me hooked beginning to end. I wore that shit like a second skin!
Ok we have sexy ass shifters in multiple forms from different backgrounds, a developing MC who has some sort of mysterious, metaphysical mojo thing going on AND a freaking mind blowing story. Im not going to recap that here though because I don’t trust myself not to spoil it . Tail ‘Em is the first book in the Jailbreak series and I am dyingggg to get book 2 in my hands
With that said, I very recently discovered Sam Hall through her Pack Heat series and she has quickly climbed up the ranks to becoming one of my favorite authors. Legit, and not just for reverse harems, I’m talking in general people so go check her out!
I must have the second book
The whole book was good but man that ending….wow. I don’t know what the characters are going to do next but I know I can’t wait for the next book.
Sam did a great job in making us invested in the characters. I feel like I know them so we’ll but yet I know there is a lot more that I don’t know. Book was a bit of a slow start but once it picked up you will not be able to put down the book.
P.S why old people always ruining a good thing
This had me high in anticipation because I knew this book was coming. Boy, I was not disappointed. Sam Hall does it again. The caracters are well thought out and feel real in the things they do and the depth they have. The storyline goes to places you didn’t see coming and will make you want to read the next chapter! I couldn’t put this book down once I started. It does end in a cliffhanger so if you don’t like that wait till book 2 comes out before you pick this up but put it on your list! It’s a must read!
The first book is this amazing series and I am completely hooked. I just really enjoyed these characters so freaking much and couldn’t get enough. Didnt even realize it was the end until the end, it was that good for me. I definitely can not wait for the next book.
I can not wait to see what is next for these characters, Talk about keeping you on your seat this book is off the charts HOT. The twist that this book has is crazy good. Sam Hall has done it again. This book will keep you on the edge your seat not being able to put it down. And when it’s over you will be wanting the next one!
First off, I seriously cannot wait until book 2. There is so much amazing in this one book, that I can’t even begin to describe it. Just download it and read it, you’ll be glad you did.
This book was amazing. It had twists and turns, heartbreak and love. The characters were amazing. The story was well put together and sucked me in so thoroughly that I read this book in one day. The story itself is terrifying in that it has a basis in real life. I can easily see it transpiring in the world given the right set of circumstances.
I’ve never read a story before where the male genitalia was different from real life (spoiler/warning) so if you’re turned off by this don’t read this book. That being said – the sex scenes were OVER THE TOP FANTASTIC!! I have never read scenes that made so hot and bothered before. I mean, seriously, they were that good!
I’m breathlessly awaiting the next book. I can’t wait to see how the story progresses. This is definitely a must-read book.
Note: Make sure to read the trigger warnings first to make sure it will be a good fit for you.
Sam Hall is by far one of my favorite authors, even though I’ve only found her somewhat recently. Her words and the amazing stories she creates with them always put me under a spell while reading. They are the kind of books that you can’t help but read in one sitting because you are just so invested in the characters and enthralled by the story being told. Tail ‘Em is much different than both the Pack Heat and the Get Your Rocks Off series in that those two, at least for some parts, represent embracing a new life or a type of freedom whereas Tail ‘Em focuses on having to hide (in this case, the FMC’s powers) or being/feeling trapped, both literally or within a certain situation that requires a person to do something unwillingly. This book definitely touches on some controversial and sensitive topics, but Sam always has her way of having them done in a tasteful manner, nothing too grotesque or hard to read unless you have some slight triggers. She often brings things to light and enables the reader to understand the situation more than they would at first glance. You’re also in for a treat with the fantastic group of characters she has created. The men have plenty of variety in appearance, personality, emotional vulnerability, and, ehem, other things. Even while trapped in an animal testing facility, the characters are broken apart in a way where you get to know them a bit more and experience the intense moments they go through right along with them. It’s a crazy situation they are all in and even crazier for Shannon, the FMC, who has hidden her unique abilities her entire life only to be found out by helping ease the worries and pains of a few small town pets and then thrown into a world of heats, slick, uncontrollable hormones, mating, and knots. If you’re a fan of fated mates and omegaverse themed books, this is a good one to read. Keep in mind that this isn’t an easy book to read at times. If you have some triggers, please read the warning at the beginning of the book where Sam explains some instances throughout the book that might be worth noting and make your decision. And as always, be prepared for the unmistakable Sam Hall cliffhanger. The ending will leave you speechless, mouth gaping, and probably a little heartbroken. I’m always surprised how wrecked I get at the end of her books, but they always keep me coming back for more.
Amazing and intriguing start to a new series. Captivating and well written this was a book I could not put down. Characters are strong and complex and I cannot wait to see the development. This is descriptive with amazing world building, twist and heartbreaking moments. This is a read with possible triggers including abuse; sexual, mental, and physical, and trauma. I can’t wait to read book two after how this book ended.
This story is amazing! It starts out with our MC Shannon who works at a local veterinary clinic and people believe that she is a reiki or new age healer. But they could not be further from the truth. The practice she works for is in trouble and may close soon without something changing. The Capricorn Institute comes calling and just so happens to need their expertise, oh and they are paying very well. Are they government, wealthy people with an agenda? Throw in men who are more than men… think claws, fur and my what big teeth you have!! The amazing Sam Hall does have a disclaimer at the beginning and it does list some trigger warnings, which I appreciate. So definitely check it out before you buy just to make sure you will be ok with the topics in the story. Also side note…. Cliffhanger ending.. but Sam Hall will make up for it in the next book!
Holy shifters batman!
This book….I have no words to describe it properly I think. Amazing! Crazy Good! The shifter book I never I needed! Honestly this was an awesome read. There’s so much going on in this book and the edge if your seat anxiety is a real emotion throughout the book.
We have Shannon who has been in love with Jai most of her life but she believed she’d never have. Somehow he manages to get the pack to assign him as Shannon’s mate. But did they really? The old coots that run the pack are wily and shady. Their word is law and you bow down or get out. And poor Shannon is unwanted by them. She has a gift, one they fear but gets her captured by the new Capricorn Institute to be bred to other shifters. The other captives are also broken and forced to endure and survive. Shannon and Jai’s future vision for themselves sadly goes down the drain. The ending leaves you wanting more and screaming why?!?!
I can’t wait to find out what happens next because I’m all in with this story and these characters.
I was pulled into this story so hard I didn’t know what to do with myself once it was over. Shannon is a woman with unique powers that make the big bads want to use her for their own gain. I loved watching the growth of her own character while also building those loving relationships that we live for in RH. I’m aching for more. I don’t have the words to express how much I adored this book!
I would love to be able to start off with a better phrase but it is what it is. THIS BOOK IS AMAZING! Tail ‘Em is a non-stop reading, as the story is gripping. I was unable to put it down but very sad I had finished too quickly. As with all of her books, this was brilliantly written. This book is another example of her amazing ability to build these worlds that are each unique unto themselves. The ability she has to write both realistic and fantasy content together, but have it fit seamlessly, is awe-inspiring. The minute the MC, Shan, is introduced, I knew this was different from anything I’ve read. Shan was able to draw me in right from the start. In most books I have read previously, you can guess how the MC will present, act, and evolve. While most within the genre are great reads, they can be predictable. Not the case when you come to Sam Hall. Just when you think you know how the story is going, it takes a twist that you would not have thought it would. I fell in love with each love interest/MC as they were being introduced into the plot. You can’t tell right away who is going to be the character that “hold out”, or which one will be the “bad boy”. They each have the ability/potential to be any or all of the RH MC sterotypes. The depth of emotion that is shown is just the right amount that I like to experience, but the variety is new, and I love it. I guess since I am reviewing this for the public, I should inform of the possible triggers that could arise, though, personally I place books with those warnings at the top of my TBR list. Warning that the book does leave on a cliffhanger, though it has made the anticipation grow more for book 2. Can’t wait to see if there will be any follow up with Janey or even Nick. Will the snow leopard allow his heart to heal. Open himself to the possibilty to be a part of the love he lost too soon? Finally, I am excited to see how the tiger and lion shifters relationship evolves, not only with each other, but Shan as well. Who else out of the harem will explore another besides Shan? Despite what happened with Stuart, will there be any backstory about how he became so hateful towards paranormals? (though at this point I don’t see any reason, still something I wonder about) All in all, this is a great read. Will be an even greater series. I am excited to have found this author, as I have enjoyed all of her books so far. Keep up the amazing work! You are a ROCK STAR!
Not only does can this author give you the feels about the MC, but with a love of animals, this book drew me in with the MC’s relationship with animals.
The way the MC is developed in this book is done beautifully, while her thoughts might be skittish, her personality is strong. You are taken down the path with the angst, the sexual tension, the torment of the knowledge she has without being able to act at first and the development of who she is a person. I love an author who can pull you in and hold you throughout an entire book with the emotional journey as well as the plot and this book as them both. The story line of this book is exceptional. The ending a cliff hanger, but brilliantly done and I didn’t see it coming. At one point I was lulled into a ‘this might be a happily ever after… ‘ but no! Thoroughly loved this book. Can’t wait for book two!
Omg I loved this book. I love how you made Shannon and Jai the main point but when you add the others guys…can we say hot!!! I love RH so but how you did it I don’t know what to say. Zane, Caleb, Nero, Gaden and Kazimierz oh my. They have stories of throw own and hopefully we’ll get to read them but I so can’t wait until book 2. Need it now. Thank you for giving us an amazing read. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy
Wow, what an amazing shifter story that really hits it out of the park and takes a sexy stance to the whole shifter dynamic. The Characters are so full of life and relatable that the story really becomes something unique in its plot and design. Sam hall has created a hot and steamy and completely encompassing shifter story that stays true to its routes with how traditional shifters act with heat and knot etc. I couldn’t put it down and I just needed to know what happens. That ending had me screaming and wishing for more. The development of the story gives us so much background and detail that I’m in awe while reading. Want a shifter romance that takes it out of the box? Want a romance that has you loving each character? This is the story for you! I can’t wait for book two! Sam hall has taken shifters and given them a breath of fresh air! Wow, what a book!
Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.
I have no idea what the heck I just read. Don’t get me wrong I loved the book it was very interesting but my brain just can’t handle it, so much happened, so many feelings and I’m just trying to process everything. Tail ‘Em is the first book in the Jailbreak series by Sam Hall and it was crazy from the start.
The story starts with Shannon, the mfc, and right off the bat, like two chapters in I knew that Shannon was in deep shit. Shannon has a gift where she can manipulate and animals’ thoughts, the gift is inherited and she uses it at her job in a veterinary clinic. is a very kind person who not only cares for animals but has a deep connection to them. However, her past with the local pack and combined with her grandmother’s rules, it’s molded her into a submissive person. After a series of events Shannon lands in the last place she wanted to be but being there begins to change Shannon. I like that she starts to grow a backbone throughout this story and while Shannon isn’t a perfect person, (there is a part I cringed at) she is overall good and trying to learn who she could be.
This is a dark paranormal single perspective reverse harem that is twisted, steamy, and it has my brain working because things are so morally gray. The pack is more animal-like than most wolf shifter books I’ve read and this is my first omegaverse type book so some things were newish to me. Shannon’s childhood sweetheart, Jai, is part of the pack in the area and I hated how the elders handled the situation between her and Jai, how the elders handled any situation with Shannon was pretty bad. Jai himself also handled things pretty poorly and when they reconnected he did try so much more. I like Jai, he’s between a rock and a hard place between doing what his pack wants and does what his heart is telling him is right. The relationship is sweet and it’s different for me to experience because they had a past together that reflects so much on their current relationship.
As for the other guys, I have no idea how Shannon is going to form relationships with them. With Jai, the bond has been there, with another character it’s cemented but with the other guys, things seem to be really shaky and I am very interested in how she’s going to build relationships with them. I will say that two personalities did a flip-flop, one guy was trusting and another was very distrustful and then it switched without any real reason. Honestly, with all the crazy that went down, I have no idea where anyone stands relationship wise. I will say that all of the guys appeal to me on some level but I need more information before I finalize feelings.
The story was crazy and I am very confused about what happened because I honestly don’t think I kept track of everything. Between the pack politics, Shannon’s grandmother’s rules and secrets, all the sensual sexy scenes (that kinda scrambled my brain), the big bad villain operating on a kinda incomprehensible level, and big reveals about Shannon, my mind went into overdrive. Warning this book is dark and
Tail ‘Em was great, I am still trying to figure things out. I have so many questions that I need the answers to, things were left on shaky ground with a cliffhanger that killed. The next book in this series is Nail ‘Em, I am so looking forward to seeing what happens next with Shannon, how the guys will react to everything, and figuring out just what they are up against because things are just getting started and I have a feeling things are gonna get even crazier.
Sam Hall is a new author to me. Her writing is detailed and story building is incredible. Whilst Tail ‘Em does have a couple of triggers, none of them affected me. I really enjoyed it!!! And I can’t wait to read the 2nd book.
I’m looking forward to seeing the connection that Shannon has just started to build with the men develop and grow into something incredibly special. And that ending….. all I can say is WOW.
Now, I’m off to find more books from Sam Hall.
I am voluntarily reviewing a complimentary advanced copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
Where to even start. I couldn’t put this book down. I love all the different shifters and that there are different types. My favorite is Jai. So many twists and turns. I will be counting down to book 2. I highly recommend this book. Sam has outdone herself once again.
