This is the fourth time I
have read this book, first time on Kindle, and still enjoy the characters
and the locations in this story.
It’s a classic.
I read this years ago along with other works by this author. Very worthwhile.
I have read this book several times. I don’t usually re-read books but this merits it.
I’ve read it multiple times, especially if interested in the Orient and the days of sailing ships.
Brilliant – so much insight into the Opium wars and England’s drive for colonization.
This fine story is one of 4 or 5 that the author has written about the orient. This book, like his others, is big in scope, is captivating and the characters as large and memorable as the setting of the locale. Worth all the time you’ll spend reading it.
Read this book years ago after finishing SHOGUN. Could not put it down. Excellent historical fiction.
It is a book I will read again many times
A wonderful book Particularly after reading Shogun and King Rat. A great series!
Jame clavel is in my opinion is the best author of the century I’ve read every book in this series all great reads the only disappointment he apparently stopped writing what a tragedy
