From the author of the groundbreaking series, A Prairie Heritage, comes the compelling story of fiery-haired, fiery-tempered Tabitha Hale. Rescued from a life of depravity, Tabitha gives her heart to God and her life to nursing.
As this tenacious, redeemed woman perseveres toward the vocation God has placed on her life, her temper and stubborn independence threaten to derail her selfless … derail her selfless aspirations. Will Tabitha pass the trial by fire that is necessary for God to truly use her?
And what is Tabitha to do with her feelings for Mason Carpenter, the man who simply refuses to give up on her? Is it even possible for God to ordain a shared future for two such different people, both with fervent callings upon their hearts?
When the Great War erupts in Europe, Carpenter leaves for England to train British pilots to fly reconnaissance missions over Belgium and France. Soon after, Tabitha hears God asking her to nurse the war wounded. However, because America has not joined in the fight, Tabitha has few options. Will the elite British Nursing Service make a place for her? Will they accept the services of an American volunteer? And will Tabitha and Mason overcome the differences that stand between them?

Unrealistic. I cannot imagine characters acting like that.
Really kept my attention & had a wonderful ending.
One of the best books I have read!
A zinger of an ending. This jerks your emotions every which way. I almost quit reading at one point but glad I kept on to the end. Wonderful story.
This is one of the few books I really hated to put down. Usually I can read several books at a time, but not this one. It held my interest all the way through. I liked two factors, especially. It was unabashedly Christian. Also, I learned quite a bit about WWI, an event about which I had less knowledge than many other “modern” wars.
I love this book. The story line was good and kept you guessing.
I enjoyed reading this book.
This story is very inspirational and realistic for the time period.
I haven’t finished reading this yet, but I can tell you Ms Vikki K. Is my very favorite author. God has truly blessed her with the ability to write real life situations that are absolutely heart wrenching. And with every situation she ends up showing how God gets the glory. It may take generations. Vicki’s faith in God and closeness to Him has increased my faith. I have never met Vikki, in reading her books I know she is my sister in Christ. I highly recommend any and all of her books.
One of the best I have read recently.
I loved the fact that its so humane. As in people do react exactly like what was in the book. I love happy endings so it was perfect for me.
I thought this book was great. Inspirational, for everyone. I would definitely recommend it.
Shows God’s forgiveness but also how true Christian’s should walk with Jesus.
I enjoyed this book very much. Loved the central character! Good reading.
Loved this book. Shows how someone can overcome the struggles they faced and create a better life. As a Christian the story shows how your faith can help you get through the struggles you face. The ending was surprising.
This book shines a light on the many different programs that are in place to help victims and it also shows the horror of the reality of the depts mankind has sunk . It also gives a hope of those who are in despair that there is hope in Christ alone.
Loved this book! So well written. Incredible characters. Can’t put it down.
I loved this book. I will be reading more from this author.
I had a hard time reading it because of the sexual abuse into prostitution. So as a result, I didn’t finish the book.
Set in 1900s to 1918. A woman’s life because of one bad choice. How she was a survivor with a loving heart and after she found Jesus and followed Him through the rest of her life. Really an eye opener to women’s choices in the early 1900s.
