#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • John Grisham returns to the iconic setting of his first novel, A Time to Kill, as Jake Brigance finds himself embroiled in a controversial trial that exposes a tortured history of racial tension. “Welcome back, Jake. . . . [Brigance] is one of the most fully developed and engaging characters in all of Grisham’s novels.”—USA TodaySeth Hubbard is a wealthy white man … Today
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy white man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his black maid, and defense attorney Jake Brigance into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County’s most notorious citizens, just three years earlier.
The second will raises many more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly? And what does it all have to do with a piece of land once known as Sycamore Row?

Kept me captivated all the way through. He has such a talent with words and characters you really feel you are and are part of the story.
John Grisham is easy to like. His work is well documented as being popular. Some books of his, in my opinion, stand out above the others. This is one of them. Iit is a sequel to the novell A Time To Kill.
It is set a few years after those events. This book has some elements of the first but a very different plot. A wonderful way to see the characters again.
The pacing is smart and keeps you very much interested. If ou have not read the first novel in a while (ori ever) t might be good to read them together..
I loved this book! An old man who is dying leaves a fortune to his black maid. His children are fighting the will. It is an amazing story of trying to make up for many injustices.
John Grisham writes smart, tragic and haunting stories that are sadly realistic. Sycamore Row was no different and I was hooked from the first page to the last.
I loved this book. The author built a story that could be real and probably has happened. It shows how a long line of corruption finally comes to an end and gets reversed.
Loved it!
Good story based on the history of the South. Grissom developed his characters well.
I don’t like all of Grisham’s books but I enjoyed this one. Not overly lawyer stuff. Deals with the South and race relations. It’s a page turner
Like all John Grisham’s novels, this one was great.
Great story, but disappointing ending.
Another good book from a reliable author.
I think all of John Grisham’s books keep you wondering what’s going to happen next.
love anything by John Grisham
A have to say I am a fan of John Grisham and found this novel to be one of his best. It is a must read…don’t pick it up until you have the time to finish it ….it grabs you from chapter one
not one of my favorites by John Grisham, but did keep me interested.
