How far would you go to save the ones you love? Would you run five traffic lights in a row? Would you rob a store at gunpoint?
Would you commit murder?
Security guard Sam White’s life falls apart when he arrives home to find his house a burnt-out shell with the bodies of his wife and daughter inside. Then he receives a phone call from a man who claims that his wife and child are alive and Sam … are alive and Sam can still save them.
But first, he must complete a few simple tasks.
Sam joins forces with Zack Parker, whose life has also been ripped apart by the same sadistic kidnapper.
Together they plunge into the dark, labyrinthine underworld of Portland, Oregon, and into a race against time to discover the identity of the kidnapper and save their families before it’s too late.

This was a weird twisted thriller that had jumps and turns that kept me reading late several nights. It kept my attention to the end. I recommend the book.
Wow! What a ride!
Grabs you and doesn’t let go until the last page.
An action packed book with many twists and turns.
Lots of twists and turns. It kept me going. It’ll make you wonder what you’d do in a similar situation.
A bit far fetched…but good characters, good read!
My first Grant McKenzie book, and won’t be my last. Interesting and likeable characters, good story and pacing, nice ending. Currently my favorite Canadian author, eh! Thanks!
Good
This book was interesting and my a lot to think about. What would I do to save my family?
Great book, kept my interest throughout entire book
Twisting and turning in every chapter. I was kept wondering who was the’bad’ guy!!
Grant McKenzie never fails to deliver. A great read that is hard to put down. Highly recommend
The story kept you guessing until the end. It is a sad book but has a outcome of hope.
New author for me. Will read more!!
I was surprised by this book as I wasn’t expecting a lot. This tale takes twist after twist as the reader is slowly provided with additional pieces of background. It does have some gruesome bits but they weren’t gratuitous and added to the plot. This book kept me reading as each time I thought I knew the perpetrator the story took another …
Magnificent
What a page turner this was! Switch was twisted and dark from the very beginning to the end. It goes to show the extent a person will go to for revenge. Luke’s childhood played a big part in what he took into his adult life, which shows that the hatred you give towards a child, is what they become as an adult.
I would recommend this …
Very intense and twisted book to read. Kept me turning pages.
This was a very good read. Very unusual plot and fast moving. Lots of unpredictable action with twists and turns all along the way. I enjoyed it very much.
Did not care for it.
Did not like did not finish it. Felt as if I could see where it was going. And that was to very very dark places. I love to read will read cereal boxes if nothing else is available but not this book.
too complicated and unbelievable
