I enjoyed the beginning with the Mom being the daycare for three, 4 year old children. It became a little dark regarding a ‘good friend’ and him kidnapping her child. Then the child’s father shows up and is not aware he had a child. And having sex a couple of times during the ‘search’ for their child didn’t seem right since they were in a hurricane.
great story
This book was just not my jam.
This is a well written, sweet and easy read with great characters.
Such caring and giving likable characters.
Recommend
I have never written a review before but I have to say that this story line and dialogue was the worst. The “hero” having sex on the bathroom floor during a hurricane with his child missing. Who does that?? He was only doing it for her though and maintained his body for her, whatever! I found the dialogue more like two teenagers than a Navy SEAL and a mother. The fact he didn’t know about his child for years and he was like it’s fine. I hate being so negative but I was just in total disbelief with this story.
This story fell short for me. I found myself skimming and skipping pages. Sadly I didn’t seem to miss anything by doing so. The characters were boring. While the author wrote in detail about the past, it wasn’t relevant to the storyline or plot. What little drama there was, was extremely predictable. I’d say skip this one.
Crystal had a bad feeling about the storm and it was right when it turned into a hurricane, her only thought to keep the children safe. Thinking someone was trying to break in and going to scare them she didn’t expect to see Duncan. After making a plan to get the children to safety he returns to Crystal and Dakota, only Dakota has been taken.
Not being able to do anything until the storm lessons, Duncan distracts Crystal, doing what he’s been wanting to do for the last four years, she was the one thing it hurt to leave the most and he wants her back.
With the storm finally stopping they head to where they think Dakota is taken, not being able to resist anymore she tells Duncan that she’s he’s. Duncan is overwhelmed and amazed he has Crystal and a beautiful little girl, and Crystal explains why she didn’t tell him. Duncan lets her know that everything he learnt out there, made him realise he wanted to get back home to her.
Although their happy they still have to find their daughter, with tornados coming up in town, and the bridge gone, will they find her in time, what else can go wrong now they finally have found each other again.
Sweetheart for the Seal by Alexis Abbott is a great second chance love story. This book is full of action, danger with secrets that are revealed. I loved this book and highly recommend it.
Duncan and Crystal were high school sweethearts. Duncan wanted to be a Navy Seal so he leaves town to enlist. Crystal doesn’t’ reveal her secret before he left because she didn’t want to crush his dream. Four years later he’s home on leave and finds out Crystal’s secret and the trouble she is in. Can they get passed the lie and get their HEA? This is a well written book about two people who were destined to be together and a beautiful love story.
This book is an action, suspense romance first, and a secret baby romance second, in my opinion. The book starts out with the action and suspense, as Duncan, a Navy Seal, is in the Colombian jungle, attacking the estate of a drug lord, to bring him to justice. From there, he decides to take some time off, and go to the beautiful, beaches of his hometown on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. What a difference, at least that is what you expect. As he comes to town to see Crystal, that he left four years ago, when he enlisted, and we have the part about the secret baby, you are thinking that now, the book will be more like the usual secret baby romance, but not so, not with a book by Alexis Abbott. Now, there is even more action and suspense, as the beautiful calm, of the Outer Banks is hit by a deadly hurricane, and tornadoes, and there is a kidnapping, looters, and a dangerous motorcycle gang. Yes, not your traditional secret baby romance. Being from North Carolina, this made the book more special to me, but it is not why I gave it five stars. That all has to do with the oustanding writing, and wonderful story from beginning to end. Due to this, I highly recommend this book.
This was a well written second chance, secret baby story. It’s not a typical secret baby book. Crystal and Duncan are high school sweethearts and on their last night together they made a baby without knowing it. Duncan has always wanted to be a SEAL, so when Crystal finds out she is pregnant, she doesn’t tell Duncan. She doesn’t want him to give up his dream. Four years later Duncan goes back home to see if he can get his girl back. However, there is a big obstacle in form of a hurricane. There is suspense, nonstop action and never ending love. This has a good storyline with wonderful characters. Do not miss out on this book.
Second chance military romance…3.5 stars!
Duncan Anderson left his high school sweetheart heartbroken when he left for the military to realize his lifelong dream of becoming a Navy SEAL. Now after four long years of service he’s never forgotten the girl of his dreams and what he left behind. He’s determined to rekindle his relationship with Crystal once he gets a chance to land stateside. But a hurricane and a dangerous complication develop in his path to reunite with Crystal.
Crystal Miller is raising her daughter and making ends meet with her daycare business. She never expected a timely rescue from a hurricane when Duncan appears at her doorstep. When Duncan meets 3-year old Dakota, Duncan realizes why Crystal slowly let go of their relationship. Now that he’s found Crystal and their daughter, no way is he letting her go again.
This story has action and suspense, and a bit of romance. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This was a step away from Alexis Abbott’s bad boy, mafia, hitman books. This is a second chance military romance book. I loved it! Duncan is an all around good guy, he is smart, protective and has a sense of honor about him. Crystal is smart, resourceful and adjust to her circumstances. Bring these two together it’s heartwarming. In my opinion this could have been very boring story, but Alexis Abbott brought in a hurricane that created all sorts of havoc and suspense. So the suspense that you usually get from the bad boys was from a bad boy hurricane named Bruno. In my opinion did a pretty good job of portraying the hurricane and the mess they make. Alexis Abbott kept me on the edge of my seat turning the pages. In my opinion I think Alexis Abbott did a good job of stepping away from her comfort zone. I voluntarily read an reviewed an advance readers copy.
You will be Blown Away by this One!!
Jake’s dream was to become a SEAL and make the world a better place. High school sweetheart Crystal supported that decision so did not tell Jake when she found out she was carrying his child. A sweet (and sexy) romance of two people who cannot forget their “first love” and how they work to come back together. Mother Nature has other plans as this all happens during a Cat 4-5 hurricane!
The intruder is frighteningly tall and broad-shouldered, and I can positively feel the raw strength emanating from him. I reflexively curl up and shield myself with my arms as he intruder slams the door shut and rushes over to me. – – – “Crystal?” asks the man in a low, deep almost reverent tone. The voice is so intimately familiar. But at first I disregards that, since it doesn’t make sense. – – – “Duncan?” I mummer breathlessly, unable to believe my eyes. He nods and pulls me into his arms….
A friend who is more than he seems, flooding, tornados, looters and a span of four years all work against this young couple who could never move away from their early relationship.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
I’ve read several books by this author and I have always enjoyed her books. The story line was really engaging and believable. I liked Duncan from the beginning, in fact if I could choose my perfect man Duncan would be right up there. Crystal is sweet, caring and a single mother. Everything she did for Duncan, so he could make a difference in the world. There were a couple of places I felt the story dragging. Duncan was proud of his body and a bit obsessed about it. I loved how Duncan took charge and made everything right. Boy did he pick the right time to go home. I volunteered to read an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.

Alexis Abbott has brought us another great read in my opinion. The plot was different and interesting. While I’m not so sure about the weather scenario and whether it could really happen, it made for an amazing read! I loved the characters. They were well-developed and easily relatable. I thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn’t put it down until I finished it. It was an exciting read that kept me on the edge of my seat!
