Though is was not my favorite book by this talented author , it was still an enjoyable.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This was fun! A marriage of convenience between two strong personalities leads to a load of fun. Great story!
Good story, but took a long time to get there. Both main characters were incredibly dense.
Jack Cooper upsets his three sons when his will is read out but his intentions are good in that he wants to bring his sons happiness through love. Gage made some foolish mistakes in his youth and has been driven ever since to prove himself, he had wanted to provide his father with the riches of the untapped oil on his father’s property and is now absolutely furious to find out that the land has been willed to a stranger.
Charlotte and Gage strike sparks at every meeting is their more to their clashes than dislike? A recommended sweet read.
This was a great book! I felt like I was a fly on the wall, watching (and feeling) everything that took place. Even the smells and sights were perfectly described and easy to visualize. I couldn’t put it down!
Different. Both H & h changed their thinking about life and about themselves and each other. Showed what we can learn when we slow down and think twice about our goals in life. Enjoyed this a lot!
Great story with wonderful characters! Fun storyline. I can’t wait to read the next story in this series.
Read all three brothers stories and loved them all. Read all three in 5 days and enjoyed all of them and their crazy characters. Love a good quick, for me, read that I can hardly wait to finish.
Had too much vulgar talk in it.. did not read all
good book
Enjoyed this book.
Very nice story. Worth reading.
Frequent descriptions of sex might turn off some people. Just skip them.
Interesting 2nd story in a series triggered by a father’s change in his will to manipulate his 4 sons. This story requires a woman to need a green card and the son who is willing to marry her to get the land his dad left to her instead of him. Lots of credibility issues … but I enjoyed the read.
The second book in the series, which can be read as a stand alone as well.
Jack passed away and in his will he didn’t leave the boys everything that he promised he would. Gavin was to get a house but Jack left it to Macy.
He had a piece of land that Jack had bought but never lived in it or visited it. Gage wanted it because there was oil on the property. Charlotte inherited it from Jack and wants to make it a weekend retreat to get out of the city.
A really good book
I received this arc from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the Sweet Texas Secrets series. Each book was written by a different author,. The series tells the stories of 3 brothers whose father recently passed away. At the reading of the will, the sons realized that their dad did not leave any of them the thing he promised each one, rather leaving it to 3 women.
Book 2 is about Gage Cooper who owns a Texas oil company. He has been struggling as oil prices have dropped and he has had to lay off employees. He expected to get a piece of land in his hometown that had oil in it. Instead it was bequeathed to a woman, Charlotte, who works for an environmental company that has strictly enforced the laws much to his displeasure. When Gage learns about Charlotte receiving the land he goes to her office and accuses her of sleeping with his dad to get it. Obviously this angered Charlotte and she doesn’t want Gage to get the property.
He learns she is from Australia and needs to get a green card to remain in Houston as she wants. He suggests they marry to give her the green card and for her to give him the land with the oil. Then he can share the proceeds with her. She agrees to the marriage and they go to Las Vegas for the ceremony.
Gage was given a unique key at the will reading. While up in the attic of the house Charlotte inherited with the land, he finds a special box filled with letters he later learns were between his dad and another woman. She was from before his mother married his dad.
Charlotte and Gage had initially said the marriage was only a business deal but then they decided to sleep together and started to act like a couple in love. At first Gage’s brothers didn’t believe they got married for anything other than the land but then they realize too, there’s something between the couple. This is a sweet romance with some steamy scenes that was so enjoyable to read. There are some twists which keep the reader captivated. I highly recommend this book and the series.
Who are Jack, Grayson, Gavin, and Gage? Who is Charlotte and why is she being considered an interloper of sorts? Oh, what mysterious note was left to and for Gage? What is the deal with Charlotte? How does she know any of these men? Who is Macy? I love that she and Charlotte hit it off right away? Who is Nora? What do we learn about her? What business proposition does Gage make? How quickly does the deal get broken? Read and see what happens! Especially what Gage comes to realize.
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin’ With M. Brennan.
What happens when the attorney reads your dad’s will and it doesn’t say what dad says he was going to write in it? OH Man! Sweet Texas Fire is the second book in the Sweet Texas Secrets series and it is all about family and yes secrets. Don’t worry you do not have to have read the first book in this series to enjoy this one, but I will share that the first book is just as good as the second book. This is Gage Cooper’s story the oil man in the family. He is the brother who wants to gain his dad’s approval the most I think. Then opposite Gage we have Charlotte Wilkinson an sexy Australian environmentalist who keeps him on his toes for lots of reason one of which is the land he wants. This is book is well written and fun to read while given me something to think about along the journey. Isn’t that what a really good book should do?
Gage Cooper has had his eye on the bottom line of his company since he started it. He has been hyper-focused on this and this alone. Everything else has been pushed to the side, including his personal life. He, like many others in the oil industry, do not like thinking about the environmental changes that need to be made to keep protect the nature that is on site. He has been butting heads with fiesty redhead Charlotte Wilkenson for awhile now over the recommendations for some of his planned drilling sites.
Charlotte Wilkenson is an environmental advocate who works with companies planning to drill for oil. Charlotte studied in Australia and was given the opportunity to work for a US based company. She is very passionate about preserving and improving the environment.
Charlotte is completely shocked when she receives the news that she has been left a house in Sweet Ridge, Texas, by a man she has met only a few times. Gage is stunned to discover his father has left the house that has been promised to him to a complete stranger. Gage only receives a key from his father with a note that the key is the key to happiness.
Charlotte and Gage soon realize that in order for things to happen, they need to enter into a marriage of convenience. Charlotte needs to be married to get her green card and Gage is thinking that he can use the time they need to wait to convince her to sell him the land.
These two are a perfect pair and it is fun to watch them struggle to realize they are meant to be together.
Although to be honest, the scene stealer is always Oil Slick, Gage’s black cat. Oil Slick is worth reading the book for alone.
The characters and the storyline move along at a reasonable pace. The characters are well developed and enjoyable. I love how the Cooper boys are all having to figure out what their father meant when he leaves them not what they expected but rather what they need.
I did receive a copy of this novel from the publisher in advance in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
They may be enemies though they have never met one another but when Charlotte Wilkinson and Gage Cooper actually meet in the flesh the attraction between them is strong This leads to a slow burn romance that will keep you engaged until you turn the last page

This is Charlotte Wilkinson and Gage Cooper’s story.
Charlotte Wilkinson straightened the pile of files on the right-hand corner of her desk. Her father’s edict floated through her subconscious— a tidy desk equals a tidy mind. She needed to be focused for the upcoming meeting with Gage Cooper.
Gage Cooper. She’d developed a picture of him, the owner of a successful oil company, in her mind.
She had no idea why he’d called the meeting today.
she owned the piece of land that was supposed to be his.
Gage Cooper drummed his fingers on the armrest as the plane taxied toward the gate. He wasn’t used to the slow crawl of commercial flights. Unfortunately, his jet was undergoing routine maintenance. He’d needed to get back to Houston in a timely manner and couldn’t wait the extra eight hours it would take for his plane to be ready.
At least he’d been able to get a ticket in first class at the last minute. “Is there anything I can get you once we finish taxiing, Mr. Cooper?”
Cooper?” The sultry voice of the flight attendant, who’d been trying her best to flirt with him the whole flight, pulled his attention from his internal thoughts.
Sweet Texas Fire by Nicole Flockton is a 3 star book.
