The boy next door is about to rock her world… again!Robbie:I fell in love with Cassie Belmont when we were five years old. She was my first and I always thought she’d be my last. Then fate stepped in and ripped her away. Now she’s back and I’m not going to let her go until I figure out what drove her away in the first place.Cassie:The only way to claim my big city future is by cutting ties with … to claim my big city future is by cutting ties with my small-town past. At least that’s what I’ve been telling myself until I get caught between a rock of regret and the hard planes of Robbie Jordan’s chest. When I read this, I “craved” for more sweet tea!!! Loved this story.
Robbie’s and Cass’s story made for an enjoyable quick read. I was pulling for Robbie. They were pulled apart by a secret. They were kept apart by her dream, her boyfriend, and his bitterness over their breakup. I enjoyed this because it was a role reversal from the romances I’ve read lately — Cassie was resistant and Robbie was the one who wanted to find out why their high school relationship fell apart.
4.5 stars
Cassie and Robbie were two peas on a pod growing up. They were best friends and eventually sweethearts, falling deep into young love. Of course, things happened that caused them to split up. Nine years later, these mid twenty-year olds run into each other again when Cassie comes home to fix up and sell her grandparents home and Robbie is the contractor helping her. There’s nothing like a summer romance to rekindle feelings that never left, but when one of them is playing for keeps, what are the chances for a second chance?
I really liked Cassie! She was sweet, smart, extremely stubborn and when she cut loose she was funny. She was also a rigid planner with a checklist of goals to accomplish. Sh had a well of feelings and it was an interesting journey watching her work through the gamut of emotions Robbie, and Cassie’s own memories, took her on.
Robbie was a riot! He had a wacky sense of humor and could be serious when need be, but it was his deep core of loyalty, compassion, and love for those dearest to him that won me over! It’s hard to resist a guy who would lay his heart all out there, trying to win his girl.
With a mix of sweet, steamy, and lots of fun, I loved seeing these to rediscover each other! I know their relationship was inevitable, but wrenches being thrown into the woodwork of their relationship kept me flipping to see where things would finally end up!
Dylann Crush is a new for me author and I am in love with the first book in her Lovebird Cafe series! I fell in love with Cassie and Robbie’s second chance romance and had a ball seeing where things would go! The extra bonus scene really had me in stitches too! Talk about things going wrong! The other characters-even the mean girls-are worth a mention, but it was Misty and Jake who had me cracking up with mentions of parenthood, quality time, and their boys mischief! I’ve already preordered the anthology their novella is included in and can’t wait for August to get here!
I have to thank Aly for posting this cover on Instagram. It caught my eye and and curiosity and when I literally stumbled on it through Netgalley a fewdays later and I couldn’t resist requesting. I’m happy I did since I found a new author with a backlist to check out!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book offers lots of down-home charm, humor and genuine emotion, but also a major case of frustration. I found it very easy to like Robbie and Cassie I wanted so desperately to like more than I did. She was so blind and stubborn. For me, almost to the point that she seemed unrealistic. I could never truly grasp how someone that was so focused on having a home, could be so eager and willing to sell the only one she had ever really had. If she had been all about being a successful chef and restaurateur, it would have made sense. That was not the case though, sure that was a part of it but she wanted a home, a place that was her own. Plus, I wasn’t a huge fan of how she thought of Robbie. He needed to grow up?!!! He was a guy with two jobs and was taking care of his terminally ill father, A man he didn’t even get along with and had been a horrible dad! I will be honest, Robbie wasn’t a prince. He was a real guy. He made some mistakes and could be a jerk sometimes. He really loved to push Cassie’s buttons, but just in that way of A. a guy that likes you and wants to get you worked up and B. As a longtime friend that just has to egg you on and knows the best way to do it. The story was enjoyable though. These childhood friends and teenage sweethearts share a colorful, poignant and painful history. I enjoyed going along for the ride as these two got their second chance at love. For the most part this is a fun, angst filled book, that has an entertaining cast of secondary characters and plenty of small town allure. I liked this book and I am looking forward to reading book two.
Loved this new release. Second chance romance with drama and All The Feels!
Sweet Tea and Second Chances is sweet and fun!
Not everyone gets a second chance with their sweetheart who got away. Robbie knows that and is going to make the most out of the summer while Cassie is back fixing up her Grandparents old farm house.
Cassie has big dreams for herself that don’t include Robbie anymore but she can’t say no to a summer fling while she’s back in Swallow Springs.
While Robbie tries to convince Cassie to stay and see her real dreams in front of her Cassie remembers the love and memories they once shared and starts to rethink her big dreams for some small town dreams.
Sweet Tea and Second Chances is a heartfelt read that will leave you feeling all the emotions! It’s sweet, funny, sexy, and fun. Definitely a book you’ll have a hard time putting down. Ms. Crush writes such relatable characters in situations we can all empathize with that there is a little something for everyone who picks up the book. A must read for your list!
This was a fabulous read, Robbie and Cass have a history, one that was happy then soured leaving them both bitter but unable to fully let each others memory go. Now Cass is back in town to do up her Grandma’s house and sell it so she can finally have her dream come a reality of owning and running her own restaurant… easy right ….. nope! The past and all those memories and emotions come back to Cass not only about the house and her Grandparents but her times with Robbie and how she fell for him, mean while Robbie is expected to propose to his girlfriend the town pork rind princess…. I mean pork producer’s princess. Well they say love is never easy so buckle up and be ready for an angsty, steamy, frustrating, sad and hopeful read where you hope Robbie and Cass find there way to each other and not just for now but for forever!
I’ve just stumbled across a ray of sunshine and it’s name is Dylann Crush. Sweet Tea & Second Chances is a smile in waiting. Robbie and Cassie stumble into a legend and run off with your heart. Ms. Crush takes a funny, yet insightful approach to romance that will put a little love in any heart. ONE CLICK ROMANCE FAVORITE!!
It has been a long time since I had a book which made me laugh so hard, I literally cried.
Sweet Tea and Second Chances is truly a sweet-sexy romance.
We all remember our first true love, what if you were giving a second chance to rekindle “the one love” that got away?

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC from NetGalley.
Dylan Crush is one of my favorite writers I’ve found… Her stories pull you in and this second chance love story in a small town doesn’t disappoint.
Oh my gosh! I loved this story. I can’t wait for other books in the series. Robbie and Cassie are such a wonderful couple. I was cheering for them the whole way through.
Never too late for Second Chances…
This second chance love story about Robbie and Cassie restored my faith in giving love another try. Time apart from each other did not lessen the love this couple have for each other. Cassie left the small town of Swallow Springs for something better in her life. So she left her childhood sweetheart and moved to the big City of Dallas. She left Robbie devastated and with a heart that would always be hers. Years later, Cassie finds herself back in the small town and back into the arms of Robbie.
Robbie sees a chance to convince Cassie what she truly is missing and that her dreams are right in front of her. Their story is heartbreaking, romantic, funny and steamy. It has all “the feels”. I look forward to the next book by Dylann Chase in this series.
This is the 1st book I read by Dylann Crush. This book’s storyline was okay. Some dialogue in this story made me laugh . I liked the hot & steamy scenes. I liked Cassie’s character. I liked Robbie’s character. I liked the ending.
This story is about second chances. Cassie has come home for the summer with the hope of fixing up her grandmother’s home and selling it. With the money, she is hoping to make from the sell she wants to use that as an investment in a new restaurant. She is a chief and she is looking at this as her opportunity also to be part owner. The person she ends up hiring for the remodel is her former boyfriend Robbie. Robbie is still in love with her and does not understand all of her rushes to do the remodel and leave town without giving them another chance or even thinking about the closed down café in town where she would be her own boss. There are issues with other people in their lives but neither one is really serious though Cassie thinks she is. Also, there are letters from nine years ago that neither one has talked about. Then there is his father who really makes everything a mess from the past. This turns out to be a good story and I did end up liking the characters. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at http://www.1rad-readerreviews.com
Really enjoyed reading this second chance romance. Couldn’t put this book down. Highly recommend
Crush is quickly becoming my new favorite author. After tearing through her Holiday, Texas series, I was psyched to start this one–and I wasn’t disappointed. I could definitely relate to Cassie, who has dreams of owning her own restaurant and chasing more excitement than any small town could ever offer. And Robbie– oh, Robbie. It’s as if Crush painstakingly created the perfect male specimen: sweet, funny, hardworking, responsible, family-oriented. And gorgeous. I loved the banter between the two, and (as usual in Crush’s work) even the secondary characters in the novel were unique and memorable.
My one complaint is the whole misunderstanding surrounding their initial breakup– I’ve seen some variation of that in other books and was disappointed in how the whole subject was barely touched upon, then sort of just resolved. However, it didn’t bother me enough to stop reading, or even take away a star from my rating, so it certainly wasn’t a huge issue.
I know going into any book by Crush that I am going to fall head over heels for the characters, even the minor ones, and find plenty of grins of giggles in between the pages. This was no exception, and I can’t wait to dive into the next book in this series!
