Great characters with loads of chemistry, snappy dialogue, intriguing storyline with a few surprise twists, and awesome cover / title! I found myself really rooting for Robbie and Cassie’s second chance to work out for them, and reading about Cassie’s grandma’s classic recipes made me hungry!
Cassie Belmont is close to achieving her lifelong dream, but needs cash fast to make it happen. That’s the reason she decided to return to Swallow Springs to fix and sell her grandparents’ old house and keep her dreams on track.
What she’s not counting on is coming back after so many years to find Robbie Jordan, the last man she wants to meet again, on her property and that he will be the only contractor available to help. After all, it’s hard to work the whole summer with the man who broke your teenage heart.
I found Cassie and Robbie’s story more to my taste. The ins and outs of their relationship, the banter between them, the small town summer love that went belly up leaving them both broken hearted and the unexpected secrets that kept them apart make for a really good second chance story.
Another thing that I really liked from this book was the relationship they had with her grandparents and how the house and her grandmother’s recipes link it all together.
3.5 stars
Sweet Tea & Second Chances was a fun, sweet and emotional romance that is well worth the read. Robbie and Cassie were childhood best friends and spent every possible second with each other in the summers when Cassie was dropped off with her grandmother in the small town of Swallow Springs. But misunderstandings and family issues tore them apart leaving each of them broken. But they are given a second chance when Cassie returns to Swallow Springs to fix up her grandmother’s house in order to put it on the market. And, of course, Robbie is the only available carpenter in town. Hot enough to make anyone weak at the knees, Robbie is adorable, funny, and still grappling with family drama and loss from over a decade earlier. Cassie is a strong character, clearly set in her mind of being a chef at her own restaurant in Dallas, even willing to give up on personal happiness and real sense of home. But Robbie is not going to let Cassie go without a fight this time either and prove that they are meant to be. Jake and Misty were really fun side characters in this book too! Sweet Tea & Second Chances is a really enjoyable read, full of heart-rending moments, romance and humor. I was provided with a free copy of this book. This is my honest review.
This small-town, second chance romance was my first read by this author. How cute is this cover?
This story definitely had some charming moments. There were some parts I liked, yet also some I didn’t. There some characters I liked, and a few that were less than likable.
I didn’t quite feel that connection I need between the h/H to love a story. I do believe if that connection would’ve been stronger, I may have enjoyed this more. A lot of back and forth between the h/H frustrated me, and I disagreed with some of their decisions. Because it’s all about me, right? LOL
Overall, it was an okay read for me.
But you know what? That’s what makes the book world go ‘round. What doesn’t work for me, might be perfect for someone else.
A sweet and steamy, small town second chance love story,
…parts you make you smile, laugh out loud, and swoon.
Chemistry and witty banter, charming and fun…
When I saw this book advertised I knew that I had to pick it up. I love small town romances and add in a second chance…sold! Rob and Cassie were summertime childhood friends that eventually became sweethearts. Then the summer after Rob graduated everything went wrong. Neither understood how this could happen but they were both young, hurt and immature so they went their own way. Now it’s 9 years later and Cassie has returned to sell her grandmother’s farm. Rob has moved back to town and the moment he sees her he knows that they never should have ended. Cassie feels no need to visit the past. She has a life that she wants and is working on her future as a restaurant co-owner and chef. Rob is as stubborn as Cassie and once he sets his mind on getting them back together he’s not backing down. Sweet Tea & Second Chances has it all. A great cast of supporting characters, secrets, a bit of angst, laughs and love. It’s told from dual POV and I look forward to more adventures surrounding the Lovebird Cafe!
Love this story.
Cass and Rob are great characters.
Storyline is great.
I did enjoy this book and highly recommend it.
This is the first book that I have read from Dylann. I loved it . Well written enjoyable amazing characters with great chemistry. I love these two together .A second chance love story written amazingly. All she wanted was a future. To be the best darn cook she could in a restaurant she owned herself. But to do that she had to go back home and sell her grandparents house. That is when she runs into Robbie the boy she has always loved. But is that love still just as strong? Gripping well written enjoyable. Dylann gained a fan with this one.
First off, I loved the title of this book, it tied in so well into the actual story between Cassie and Robbie. Cassie and Robbie grew up spending Summers together as Cassie would come into town each Summer to live with her grandparents. What was a friendship grew into more, but when unexpected things happened and Cassie left town vowing to never come back. Cassie is back now with the mission to repair her grandparent’s house and getting the house sold and leaving town for good. As fate has it, Robbie is the one that will be doing the renovations on the house. As they begin to work together, the spark is back. Could it be really after 9 years that Robbie and Cassie are not over each other? Robbie is the guy that steals your heart, giving up his dreams to take care of his father who never really valued Robbie as a son. If you love second chance romances than you will love the story of Robbie and Cassie.
Cassie and Robbie were childhood friends, then sweethearts. But it didn’t last and Cassie left town. Now she is back to repair her grandparent’s house and get it sold. Then leave again. But as it turns out, Robbie is the one doing the renovations. But as they work together, their old flame ignites. Robbie had returned since his father is sick. But there is another complication as Robbie had been seeing Caroline and his father and her parents were wanting a ring on her finger when she returns from South America. Will these two be able to get back together and stay or will outside forces tear the apart. I loved Robbie and his humor. Cassie took me a while to warm up to as she is very regimented. But these two make such a great couple, you can’t imagine them being with anyone else.

Cassie returned to her grandparents’ farmhouse in Swallow Springs, Missouri, and she wandered down to the pond only to see Robbie Jordan lying naked on the grass. He sure had filled out since they were kids! He said he was cleaning out some brush from around the pond for her, cooled off in the water, then was sun-drying himself on the grass. He hadn’t expected her until the weekend. Her plan was to fix up her grandparents’ old place, sell it, and use the money to start up a business in Dallas. She had no idea why Robbie was back in town. He brought back memories, and she wanted to shut those away. Her life had no room for Robbie Jordan.
Robbie had come back to take care of his dying father. With cancer and cirrhosis, the doctor had given him 6 months to live. He told Robbie he had heard Cassie was back and reminded his son she was nothing but trouble. Robbie had been dating Caroline Hayes and his father was urging him to hold onto her. Right now, Caroline was teaching in South America. But when she returned in August, Robbie was expected to either put a ring on her finger or her father promised to shut him out of any construction jobs within a fifty-mile radius.
Because Robbie owns a construction business, he naturally decides to help Cassie with her renovation project on the farmhouse. Memories and old feelings haunt both of them, but she tries to push them away. The bottom line is, she needs his help with her renovations. Will Cassie and Robbie see in each other what they have had all along? Or will they allow the past to destroy their chances for happiness?
This was a very enjoyable book. I like the way the author kept bringing back snippets of the past to show the reader how Cassie and Robbie had grown up together and give the background of their story in a very effective way. The reader truly gets to know both of them. I loved Robbie’s personality and the humor and laughter he’s always ready to share. Grab your copy and see if he and Cassie can get back what they thought was lost.
I loved this story of Cassie and Robbie! It is a sweet second chance at love story that has conflict, hurdles to cross, a past to sort out and a future to choose! I laughed, roled my eyes, got frustrated over their choises, and kept hoping for the best! Really enjoyed this story!

Cassie spent her holidays during her childhood always with her grandparents, and there she met Robbie. Both were inseparable and of course became high school sweethearts.. Sadly college saw them separated and they led their own lives, had their own dreams.
A few years down the road they meet again, in the same small town, Robbie a local contractor and Cassie with the plan to remodel her grandparents’ house to sell, so she can open her own restaurant with the man of her choice..
Suffice to say – old feelings rekindle ….
A good story, fairly realistic about the feelings of hopes and dreams, and finding out that dreams change and there is a shift in things we value over time.
A well-written and enjoyable read.

This is the first book I have read by Dylann Crush and it won’t be the last I fell in love with the residents of Swallow Springs and I look forward to reading more in the Lovebird Cafe as well as checking out other books by this very talented author.
Cassie is back in the small town she grew up in to sell her late grandma’s house the only problem is it’s needs a lot of work before it can go on the market and the only construction firm in town capable of completing the job is run by Robbie who just happens to be her childhood sweetheart. Cassie and Robbie grew up together and shared many firsts but when it came to college they ended up going their separate ways will the second time around be any different for this adorable couple………..
This story is told in both Cassie and Rob’s POV and it was easy to get involved with their journey and the residents of Swallow Springs. This book ticked so many boxes for me, I love this authors style of writing, I loved the characters, the banter left me laughing and smiling like a Cheshire Cat, I swooned as Rob set out to win Cassie’s love again and I gasped as she dug her heels in but in the end this book is not only a great second chance romance it’s also small town romance at its best. I highly recommend this book to all romance lovers.
Sweet Second Chance Romance Well Worth Your Time.
This story was a delight to read. The author wrote a well developed storyline that flowed nicely (meaning it made sense) from chapter to chapter. But most of all I really loved the characters from Swallow Springs, Missouri. As I’m reading I’m picturing the town, hearing the dialect, just enjoying the whole vibe…sort of a “Sweet Home Alabama” feel going on.
The fact that Cassie and Robbie have known each other since they were five you know they are destined to be together. It just seems like Cassie needed to take the scenic route to come back.
You won’t go wrong spending some time so I’m definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure.
