Wow! It’s a great story with wonderful characters and living the dream of ranch-life, horses and dedicated people. I loved every minute of this book! As a dedicated fan of the McGavin Brothers Series, I knew this new cowboy story-line would be fun to read. Matt and Lucy gave this book heart. This book is for adults as there are sensual scenes written into the story-line. Thanks for a great read!
If you enjoyed this author’s McGavins Brothers stories as much as I did, you are in for a treat with this new series.
This first one gives us Lucy Patterson and Matt Ramsey.
During her youth, Lucy and her family visited Buckskin Ranch many summers . There she met a cowboy who had enchanted her. When she was 19 years old , she declared her love and he turned her down. Breaking both their hearts.
SIx years later she’s back, in her wedding dress not for her honeymoon as planned but to escape her cheating fiancee.
Who picks her but, but Matt . No longer a boy, but a man and a true cowboy.
Will they get their HEA, or will once again, each go their separate ways, this time for good?
The story was at times sweet, at others bittersweet and always touching. You’ll get to meet the interesting characters of the town, as well as other cowboys in Buckskin that are likely to get their own stories in the near future. I am looking forward to those.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
” Luck or Fate that you`re in the right place at the right time and you have the good sense to recognize the person who`s the one”. – That’s what this book is all about.
Why is it that we always tend to complicate things?
Put our feelings aside?
Why don’t we just take the opportunity when we have it?
Matt: “I shouldn`t be doing this”.
Lucy: “Do it anyway”.
– Ahh … Thanks for these lines!
On the other hand, Lucy would have escaped one bullet, but a second would have hit both of them right in the heart. Sometimes it is only a very fine line to miss the happiness we have together. These two made it really exciting at the end.
Great story and loved the characters !
Loved this story about love and trying to deny it then accepting it
Another fantastic series start from Vicki Lewis Thompson. Details and descriptions are so thorough I feel like I’m right there. Cannot wait to read more about the Buckskin Brotherhood and their adventures with love.
Matt Ramsey works for the Buckskin ranch where Lucy Patterson has been coming since both were in their teens. Lucy runs away from her pending marriage when she finds her fiance cheating with her best friend. She flies back to the Buckskin ranch to get away and heal her heart only to be confronted with her first love, Matt. I absolutely couldn’t put this book down! A sweet cowboy, second chance at love romance!
A wonderfully relaxing read! Great characters and a realistic storyline. I enjoyed this story and plan to read more from this series.
SWEET TALKING COWBOY is a standalone read with a happy ending. It has a few sexy scenes but nothing real graphic. It is set on the Buckskin Ranch where guest get to experience the cowboy life. Lucy’s family has been coming to the ranch since she was 4. At 19 she told Matt she loved him and wanted to be with him. Matt had a job and that was it. He had nothing to offer her and he turned her down. He loved her he just knew that she was going to have greater things going and they would just struggle. It was no life for either of them. He did love her.
Lucy is dressed and ready to walk down the aisle when she discovers the groom and the best friend getting it on in a dark room of the church. She runs. At the airport she changes her flight to an earlier one and she leaves for the ranch. Matt is waiting to pick the new couple up when he sees Lucy for the first time in 6 years. She is alone and she is still wearing her wedding dress. He may have a second chance to win her heart.
This is a fun adventure as these two work their way back to each other. I definitely recommend the story
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 8/17/2021
When you find your groom in the arms f your best friend on your wedding day where do you go? To the place you were always happy as a child which also happens to be where your first love lives. Can you take a leap of faith and but your marketing degree marketing your own art and stay with your one and only love? Great story
Look forward to reading more in this series
The book was light and easy to read. But the repetition of the problem became challenging to continue reading. I also like a little more story at the end to expand on the HEA not an abrupt ending.
Sweet-Talking Cowboy (The Buckskin Brotherhood #1) by Vicki Lewis This is the first book in a new series…Lucy Patterson showed up at the Buckskin Ranch with out her groom, Matt Ramsey’s is glad to see her but Six years ago she gave him her heart. He sent her away because he thought his was wrong for her then. Well they still both care and can’t keep their hands or lips off each other…there is a time limit she has to leave…I laughed, I cried, and laughed some more…I love the Brotherhood and was glad for their HEA. Can’t wait for more…
Poor Matt is in a fix when he is tasked to pick up a Buckskin Ranch guest and her new husband at the airport. He’s never forgotten Lucy, a guest who became a friend, before she offered him her heart and he said no. I won’t give away what happens, but Matt is in for a huge surprise. And he’s not sure if it’s good or bad.
A sexy, sweet friends to lovers romance that will leave you wanting to read the next book, once you get through this great first story in the series. Thompson once again builds a town and a ranch we all want to visit, and populates it with a stellar cast of characters. I can’t wait to see more of these characters, as, I hope, they get their own happily-ever-after. Book 2 is coming out soon! I’ve already preordered mine!
It’s not often that I get a chance to read a whole book in one sitting, but I devoured this series starter all at once. Vicki Lewis Thompson jumps right into her new setting at the Buckskin Ranch with Matt Ramsey, a ranch hand determined to wish the girl he turned down happiness on her honeymoon. But when Lucy Patterson arrives, it’s without a husband—and still in her wedding gown. Turns out she left that cheating scum before the wedding started, and although she believes Matt never had any interest in her, she’s happy to see a familiar face. Matt still believes the two of them have lives too different to end up together, but when she kisses him, he can’t hide behind the old lie that he wasn’t interested. He’s been in love with her too long—and she’s ready to give their attraction a chance.
I am a sucker for unrequited love stories, and Matt and Lucy’s long-simmering relationship makes them both wonderfully vulnerable, and also makes the quick jump from friends to lovers play out naturally. Along with Thompson’s signature steamy romantic encounters, this new series has shades of her old Thunder Mountain Brotherhood series, with a group of ranch hands so close to the ranchers who hired them—and in some cases, helped raise them into adults—that they consider themselves brothers, and have a moral code in honor of the male rancher, who died a few years back. There are also echoes of the McGavin Brothers series, not just because those characters live a few hours away, but also in the boisterous group of older women who are clearly an unstoppable force in the town. (Edna—Ed—the barrel racing champion is my instant favorite, and I desperately want to read a story of any length about her having an adventure with Ellie Mae from Eagle’s Nest. I have a feeling those two women together could solve the world’s problems and still have time for pizza after.)
All in all, this is a fantastic start to a new series, and I’ve learned a new fact: buckskin is a color of horse (hence the name of both the ranch and the series!).
(I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.)
Sweet-Talking Cowboy combines the best of the Thunder Mountain Brotherhood with the best of the McGavins into a fun new series. Matt and Lucy were the perfect kick-off and I can’t wait to see each and every one of these cowboys fall.
I’m in love with this new series already. Matt is definitely fits the bill and convinced me that he is a sweet-talking cowboy. I love that they get a another chance to figure out if it’s meant to be. Relationships are never easy so their new beginning has a few kinks but they put all their cards on the table from the jump and just roll with it. Love this story, the characters are easy to relate to and their heartwarming plight kept me glued to the pages. Can’t wait to read the next one is the series. This authors’ cowboy stories are guaranteed to be a pleasure to read. I was provided a free copy and am voluntarily reviewing but it was so good that I purchased a copy as well.
This is an awesome start to a new series! VLT has penned a wonderful new book full of characters that you can care about. I absolutely loved the McGavin Series and was sorry to see it end. I’m happy that Vicki is going to give us glimpses of the Eagle’s Nest family in this series.
Lucy is quite a character. She’s sweet, spunky, and full of life. Matt is a true cowboy; honorable, sweet, strong, and sexy. The Buckskin Brotherhood has some great guys in it, and I’m excited to read their stories as well. There are so many parts in this book that made me smile. 😀 I recommend this book!
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily giving my honest review.
A wonderful start to a new series by Ms. Thompson.. Lucy Patterson hasn’t seen Matt Ramsey for 6 years. When she returns to Buckskin Ranch it’s with the intention of having a groom as well. That wasn’t now it turned out.
Matt Ramsey works at the Buckskin Ranch. He agrees to pick up Lucy and her husband. The only thing is she arrives by herself, and a white wedding gown no less. He’s stumped to say the least.
Even in the worst situation family and friends come to Lucy’s side. She has always had a thing for Matt, but he never returned those feelings.
Now he is. But will they act on them, and take to the next level?
Oh so many laugh out moments. The beginning sets it off. Even the situation Lucy faces she still laughs about it. So family orientated. That’s what I love about Ms. Thompson’s book. Family is important and so are friends.
Plus the hot steamy scenes between her characters. Well you have to buy to see if Lucy and Matt act on those feelings.
I voluntarily read a copy and all thoughts are my own.
Must read!!!!
I’m so happy to have a new VLT cowboy series! This one begins right in the middle of the action. Lucy is on her groomless honeymoon, and Matt has to decide if he can continue to bury his feelings for her. Because these two have known each other for years, they already have a friendship established. They reconnect immediately and fall into teasing and joking pretty quickly, and it is hilarious. The whole beauty salon thing was so funny! You feel the chemistry right away, and it is so hard to watch them fight it. I was fully invested in their story by the end of chapter one, so I might have been yelling, “Just kiss her!” at Matt for a bit.
Matt is a true gentleman who needs to learn a bit about his own worth. He treats Lucy with respect and genuine care. It was very romantic. Lucy is a lovely person who is trying to do the best she can in a tough situation. She is very smart, and I knew she would get it all figured out in the end.
I loved both of these characters, and I also enjoyed meeting all the new characters on and around Buckskin Ranch. The cowboys (the Brotherhood in the series title) are all swoony, and the Buckskin Babes are awesome older women that the Brothers treat with respect and fun. There is a lot of potential here, and I am excited to learn more in future books.
WOW what a way to start a NEW series and yet tie it to an old favorite one – Vicki is so good at revisiting the characters that we have all come to love!! This starts out really well and it grabbed me and was too hard to put down until I finally read about their HEA – Can NOT wait to read about more of these characters in their own books! I was excited to read a beta version and freely leave my opinion of this book!
