Our first meeting as neighbors was screwed from the start. He was hot. I was naked. And we had no chance in hell at ever being platonic. …I’ll be the first to admit that I live at extremes. After going ten years locked in what felt like a dysfunctional marriage, I’m now decidedly boy-free. In nearly three years I’ve had no boyfriends, no flings, no dates and no sex. For the sake of my dream … the sake of my dream career, the sacrifice has been easy.
At least it was.
Until he came along.
Lukas Hendricks. He’s rude, gorgeous, arrogant – a stone-carved wall of muscle and distraction. He’s everything I know to avoid but there’s no avoiding your next-door neighbor. Oh yeah. The man now lives three steps from me and to make matters worse, he crashed into my life while I was relaxed in the tub – mortifying to say the least and it went something like this: I was exposed. He looked. He laughed.
And then I locked myself out.
In short, Lukas Hendricks was trouble from the start. And me?
I was – for the first time in years – about to be screwed. *** SWEET SPOT is a standalone in the Irresistible Series ***

I loved it! It is fun, sexy, thrilling, emotional and romantic. There’s laughter, there’s tears and, there’s some very sexy times. It is the perfect combination and balance of all human emotion. I wanted to keep on reading about Lia and Lukas.
At the beginning Lia and Lukas do not seem to be a good fit. She is focused, determined and prefers the quieter side of life. Lukas likes the rowdier side of life and with his extreme good looks and billionaire dollar enterprise, he gets a lot of female attention that he doesn’t ignore. Of course, that changes when Lukas moves into the apartment across the hall from Lia. Their introduction sets the tone for some entertaining dialogue between the two, considering Lukas catches Lia in a thin, wet robe that isn’t fastened and Lia feels “smacked in the face with this stranger’s gorgeousness.” Lukas’ blunt language is unfamiliar to Lia and makes her uncomfortable. He takes full advantage and she immediately forms her opinions about him. Needless to say, Lia and Lukas do evenutally get into some sexy times.
However, Lia and Lukas are a little bit broken. Their childhoods were not the best of situations and continue to cause pain even as adults. They also, have some “friends” that are not in favor of their happiness. This creates a bit of tension and anguish for Lia and Lukas as well as between them. Lia seems to get herself together and put closure on her past while, Lukas has a great deal of difficulty trying to do the same. But, will Lia help him move forward?
This story is so well done that I highly recommend it.
There were some really lovely parts to this story, and some really slow parts. I liked the characters and the concept and the story held my interest for the first half, but my interest waned in the last half when it just seemed like there was a sex scene in every other chapter. Then those long protracted backstories were thrown in and instead of creating angst for me, they just dragged. Too long, too contrived, and Lia’s backstory in particular struck me as just odd. But the biggest problem I had with this story was that the climax just completely fizzled out.
So all that said, I understand what the author was trying to convey so I gave it three stars. I didn’t hate it, I just feel like it could have been better executed. This is the author’s art and her choices, and I fully respect that. I know writers go to great effort just for our enjoyment, but oh to have been a beta reader for this one. Will I read the next book in this series? I might. Ms. Rhys is clearly skilled and creative so I’m open to trying again.
A great neighbors to lovers story that was a fun and quick read.
Lia is a chocolate truffle maker who’s in NYC trying to launch her own business after ending a 10 year relationship with an immature, selfish moron. She’s been so focused that any attempt at a new love life has been put on hold for fear it will distract her from her goal. Lukas, the brother of her neighbor, moves next door and soon poses quite the distraction.
This was just a fun book about two people who are instantly attracted to one another, and plan to just have a short fling but it turns into so much more. Lia doesn’t want to be distracted from work but Lukas is there ready and willing to make all her sexual fantasies come to life and who would say no to that. Lucky girl.

Audiobook version:
I absolutely loved this book~ It was Sexy… It was sweet… It was funny… It had drama… The perfect blend for an awesome read. Great characters that you really care about. Definitely added to my Rom Com recommended reads~
Narration was great- no complaints at all. I would love to hear more of this series!
Audio: Narrators – John Masterson and Cassandra Myles
OMG!!! These narrators did an incredible job!!! I couldn’t imagine anyone else giving such perfect voice to Lukas and Lia. John’s voice was so deep and melodic that I had flashbacks of voice overs from movies such as My Dog Skip and The Sandlot. Cassandra gave such sweet innocence and passion to Lia that I was pulled completely into the character. The fluctuations were spot on, the tone and rhythm never needing a moment to adjust to. I have definitely found two new narrators to stalk…I mean enjoy.
This was such a sweet, fun, sexy read with much more depth than I was expecting.
Lia is working hard on getting her business started and she knows that having a relationship will only get in the way of that endeavor. Unfortunately, her new neighbor is just too much temptation. Deciding to do a one and done, she finally yields to Lukas’ pull. In the morning, things will return to business as usual.
Lukas was never expecting all that was Lia when he first met her in the hallway. Although, there was quite a bit to see at the time. Now that he’s had Lia, he’s determined to keep having her but she’s a prickly little thing and suddenly he finds himself intrigued, and liking it.
I loved this couple so much! They each had more than what initially was laid out and that made for a bit of an emotional pull the further into the story I went. These characters were very well developed and I was totally invested in them and their future.
The steam factor here was melt-your-kindle hot and Lukas amps up the heat with his dirty talking ways. Whew! Try listening to that while driving down the interstate!
I was a bit confused at how the end was suddenly upon me and I felt as though I had missed something in regards to the “villain” in this story. I’m curious if his role isn’t more fully played out in another book? As this is my first book by this author I’m unsure what all this series entails but I’ll certainly be checking to see if Lukas’ sister Tess has her own story.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I spent the weekend trying to get in some new authors. I have crushed my task at hand and I have found a few new favorites. Sweet Spot by Stella Rhys was so completely unexpected and I adored this book! From page 1, this book had my undivided attention and I finished it in one evening. Be warned, this book is truly addicting and is most definitely a book worth reading over and over again!
Lia is a workaholic. Since leaving her boyfriend of ten years, Lia has been desperately trying to make a name for herself. All work and no play leaves Lia a very dull girl. She is very by the book and everyone knows how little fun she is. Lia is not looking for anything but the new mystery man across the hall has caught her attention.
Lukas. Lukas Hendricks. My lord, this man is pure swoon worthy, book boyfriend to replace all others material. He works hard and plays even harder. With plenty of women at his disposal, he never knew what he was missing until he ran into the neighbor across the hall, who just happened to be stunningly beautiful…and almost completely naked.
Instantly attracted to each other, Lia knows better to mess around and needs to stay 100% focused on what she is trying to accomplish. It doesn’t help Lukas any that Lia can see completely through his manwhore ways. Lukas is bound and determined to break down Lia’s no nonsense ways and teach her how to have a little fun. He soon realizes that he is the only one that he wants her to have fun with but does she feel the same?
“I don’t want to be without her. I don’t think I can.”
Both Lukas and Lia have demons in the closet, some worse then others. I love how Lia completely opened up to Lukas and eventually, when he did the same, my heart broke. Their journey had so many ups and downs, nothing overly dramatic but just enough to make them have to fight for what they really wanted. The end result was an absolutely beautiful story. And not to be forgotten, the sex you ask? AMAZING…WONDERFUL…HOT..MIND-BLOWING…you get my drift
