“She was a balm to my battered soul.”
My addiction to MC Romance led me to a new dealer. This is my first time to read anything by this author and I’m very happy to report that it was a good decision that paid off. I really enjoyed Sweet Revenge and look forward to more Sinners MC.
Maggie has been in survival mode for years. Not living, just existing…barely. She’s learned not to trust anyone, even herself. Looking back she realizes that the hopeless situation she finds herself in is the result of a bad decision that she’s been paying for in pain. She’s broken and though she might not have been brave enough to save herself she can’t let someone else be hurt, right?
Gunner has watched her from afar. Knowing she was taken. But unable to look away from her beauty when he is lucky enough to get a glimpse. He never expected her to do what she did. He still can’t believe how brave she is. How much longer can he fight his feelings for her when she’s close enough to touch?
I was so proud of Maggie for pulling up her big-girl-panties and taking care of business in spite of her fear. She’s placed her own life in danger, but she’s never felt safer. She knows more than she should. She wants what she can’t have. She needs something she can’t even name.
Yeah, I have no problem naming it for her. G-U-N-N-E-R! That sweet sexy badass biker is exactly what she needs to scratch that itch she can’t identify. And guess what, he’s not so sweet to the bad guys. That softer side comes out for her…sigh.
I fell hard for the Sinners MC family and excited to spend more time with them. The line forms here…
This is my first book from this author and it won’t be my last! This book has all of the elements I enjoy in a romance novel. Gunner is the VP of the Sinners MC. I’m not a big MC readers, but this is the story of an MC that is cleaning up and legalizing their club but there are still some rivalries that Sinners MC is drawn into this. Gunner has had his eye on Maggie for some time. Maggie “belongs” to a particularly brutal member of the Sinners MC rival club The Widows. There are so many twists and turns and I couldn’t put this book down. The characters are carefully crafted to not be too much of alpha or too much the victim. Absolutely a 10 star read. I immediately downloaded the next book in the series.
This was my first book by this author, and I am completely hooked. I need to read all of her books. This is written in first person from a dual POV.
Gunner is a protective MC VP and he falls for Maggie at fist sight. But she is with the enemy. Maggie is trapped in a violent relationship. She makes some decisions that lead her to the rival MC and into Gunner’s life. Gunner has secrets and a violent past but is trying to live life on the right side of the law. Maggie has experienced physical and emotional trauma and needs to heal. I loved how patient Gunner was with Maggie. I love how protective he was of her. I loved how he encouraged her to find her voice and her confidence. I loved how safe Maggie felt with him and how that allowed her to grow.
There is seriously so much I loved about this book! Steam, danger, right vs. wrong, gray areas, brotherhood of the MC, and so much more made this a book I could not put down. I was invested in the characters. The pacing was on point. I NEED to read more of this series and the ones before it. I highly recommend this one.
(Readers may need to know that Maggie suffers physical, sexual, and emotional abuse at the hands of her ex before she gets away and these situations might be triggers for some.)

This book blew me away! Maggie and Gunner both have pasts that would bring you to tears and together they try to navigate trusting each other and those around them. I loved how this story centers on the family aspect around them, even when faced with danger they seem to pull together as one to save each other. Great characters and I can’t wait for Bear and Josie’s story next. Highly recommended.
I would’ve never thought I’d read a motorcycle club book but I’ve read all of Jennifer Hanks books and have absolutely loved them so I thought I’d give this one a shot. Man oh man did I love this book! I’d met Maggie in a previous book and that girl needed a happy ending….then along comes Gunner! With some twists and turns and things didn’t see coming this book didn’t get put down until it was finished! I’m looking forward to Bears story then hopefully Race and Becs!
Must Read!!
Maggie has been beaten down literally by Snake who was the Prez of the Black Widows MC. Gunner had kept an eye on Maggie since the first time he saw her with Snake. He knew that there was something special about this lady but he had no idea the life she had been living with Snake. Gunner was the VP of the Sinners MC and had kept a huge secret from his club since he joined up with his best friend Bear who was the club president. They together wanted to bring the Sinners out of the past they had led and turn into something more honorable…more about family and brotherhood.
Both Maggie and Gunner had an incredibly tough life growing up and now Gunner wanted to be the one to save Maggie from the torturous life she had lived. There are so many obstacles in their way it seemed impossible but these two somehow were trying to make it work. The Black Widows MC mother chapter wanted in on the plan to bring not only Maggie down but take Gunner down as well. You’ll have to read to see what the surprising connections all were. And let me tell you they made your mouth drop. So worth the read. Now I can’t wait for End Game to come out!!
Wow, I loved this book. I couldn’t put book down once started. And I can’t wait to see what comes next for all the characters.
I loved Gunner and Maggie, they are great togeter. I loved how Gunner was patient and build up Maggie’s confidence.
This may not be conventional MC book, but it still had everything I wanted.
I highly recommend this book.
Maggie has been beaten beyond recognition–again. Gunner couldn’t hold her and comfort her. She’d never trust him. At least not for a time. He’d waited this long. He’d wait as long as it took.
The authorities tried to get her to file charges against the man she feared most. Finally, she’d heard enough that she had to warn her tormenter’s enemies. So began Maggie’s life in the Sinner’s MC. They promised to keep her safe from the man who’d terrorized her. It just seemed like another prison.
Gunner promised Maggie he’d protect her and teach her that the Sinners were nothing like their enemies. She was now in a family. She’d be his one day when she was ready.
The MC they fought was bigger, stronger but the Sinners were smarter. They had the support that would never help the club who’d hurt Maggie and so many others. Was it enough? Could they keep their people safe and take out the enemy? Or would they be the ones destroyed?
A story with brutality and strong enemies. A club with loyalty and men with honor. A touching, emotional love story. A woman so broken gains strength and learns to trust and love. A man with the patience to wait until the woman he loves is ready to love and be loved. A not to be missed MC story.
Sweet Revenge is one of the least gritty and crude MC romances I’ve read. And I was totally okay with that. It didn’t stop me from enjoying this. The storytelling in this story is good, and it kept me interested.
Gunner is the VP of the Sinners MC.
Maggie is who he’s had his eye on for quite some time, but she belonged to someone else. An evil someone. But Gunner was patient, he was protective, and he was determined to do things the right way. Eventually, things would be the way they were supposed to be.
The romance between Gunner & Maggie was the main focus of this book. Maggie’s hard childhood, her survival, healing, and strength was forefront, with the club and its business more in the background. Which worked for me.
It’s my understanding that there are characters in this story who were previously introduced in other books by this author. Would I have benefitted and enjoyed this one more had I read the others? Perhaps. There were connections between certain characters that were made before this book. But I don’t believe it confused me by any means.
This was my first read from Jennifer Hanks and I would definitely consider reading more. There’s a nice, little set up for the next book, which I will say, I’m interested in reading.
I’ve been waiting to sit down and start this series and boy did it deliver. I was so excited to see what more would life throw at Maggie. That girl has so much bad things happen to her and if anyone deserved something better in life it was her.
That is why I was so glad to see Gunner being the man he was. He was so patient with her and just wanted to love her how she deserved to be love. My heart was so happy when she finally started to put her walls down, which was not an easy task and started to let him in slowly. I liked the way she stepped up when he needed help and gave him what he needed at time. And I absolutely love this club which is filled with upstanding men and woman (Becs) trying their best to save and protect those in need of that.
I’m starting Bear’s book next and I’m so excited to see if they’ll be able to put the enemies down once and for all.

This was a book that started with a very promising and intriguing story line but the execution didn’t leave me connected to the engaged to the characters. The heroines back story was a highlight. Her life was thrown to the wolves for the most part when she was a teenager and never got on track until a brave decision to free herself. I loved the commendations she received for her courage in making her life better however I never saw her as more than her tragedy. Her growth felt dependent on the MC and the hero who wanted her and I wanted so much more for her in terms of development. She was made as a naive, wilting flower which is fine when the development works but I just didn’t think she ever grew into something more. Likewise, the hero had an interesting backstory too but he was over-alpha’ed, if you will, and the club stuff took over where I felt he could of perpetuated some growth. The Sinners MC is a bit misleading as their sinners looking for wholesome redemption in brotherhood and camaraderie. The MC portions get gritty but not overly dark at all. The secondary characters lent interesting breaks to this slow burn romance story of overcoming. Sweet Revenge was told from dual points of view and I did enjoy getting each perspective as it kept the book moving at a good pace.
This is my first book from this author and it was a good read. I enjoyed Luke, Maggie, Gunner, Becs and Bear characters. Maggie has been living in hell since the loss of her mother and unfortunately for her the person she thought would be her savior had became her captor and abuser. Gunner has his own past that he keeps hidden. There’s bad blood between father and son and with Maggie’s life in danger, blood must be shed. I’m glad that Maggie’s character showed growth with the help of Becs, Gunner and the MC crew. I also enjoyed her friendship with Becs. There were laugh out loud moments in this story, sweet and steamy scenes, revenge, betrayal and more, but this story was also missing something. I wished there was a little more of the MC aspect to it with the main characters. Most of the action seem to happen near the end of the story and this book ends with a bit of a cliffhanger. This was a good read but I’m unsure if I will read the next book in this series. I also wish there was more chemistry between Maggie and Gunner, there were definitely sweet and steamy moments but I wish there was a little more. Overall, it was a good read and I’m glad I gave it a try.
Despair:the complete loss or absence of hope.
The author did an amazing job of conveying Maggie’s despair. My heart ached for her and I spent most of the book cheering her on whenever she took a step toward healing.
Gunner was amazing and his revelation shocked me but was great for the storyline.
An amazing read and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I absolutely loved Jennifer Hanks’ first foray into the MC world!!
This is a beautifully told story of love, strength, and family.
I wasn’t so sure I was ready for Maggie’s story. Having known the struggles Maggie endured, I knew this would be a heartbreaking story. And, it was. But Jennifer Hanks knows how to tell a story that grips you and plays with your heart, but in a way that offers levity with the realities of everyday life. It makes for the perfect entertaining read!
I’ve become a huge fan of Maggie and Gunner!! My heart swelled with pride as Maggie found her inner strength! It was beautiful to watch her morph into the woman she became. And Gunner, swoon!!! He was amazing with Maggie! The perfect combination of alpha-sweetheart! This story leads us through an emotional journey with sweet rewards along the way!
Maggie is an emotional prisoner until she’s so beaten down she no longer wished to live. In hopes it will bring demise to her captors, she makes a difficult choice, but the best choice, to give information to a rival club.
Maggie ends up under the Sinner’s protection. Gunner, the Sinner’s VP, has wanted her since the first time he saw her. He’s been biding his time. Now she’s here, but so wounded he can’t make his move.
Maggie is beat down in body and spirit, always fearful and on alert.
“I just didn’t know how to stop being afraid.”
She has to learn to believe in herself and find her own strength. Gunner has to be patient and earn her trust. I loved that Gunner wanted to get Maggie anything just to see her smile.
“My heart was beating so fast just from hearing his beautiful words, but now that he was kissing me, I felt like it might explode right out of my chest.”
Just when Maggie is starting to trust. A huge secret Gunner has been hiding comes to light. One that could obliterate their relationship and the foundation of the Sinner’s MC.
Such a captivating story! My heart bled for them both and what they had been through. The strength it took to get where they are, made everything all the richer!
“Because I fell in love with you three years ago on the street, and I’ve just been waiting for you to catch up.”
As always, Jennifer Hanks creates incredible families around her characters. Families that we absolutely insta-love. Thank you Ms. Hanks for giving us another visit with the amazing and wondrous DiMarco family! They are a hoot to read about and they always make my day!
I highly recommend this book and eagerly look forward to the next installment in the series!
I loved this book! A new series, but you still get a glimpse into the Dimarco family, you get a little from the Elite Securities too. It’s the best of all 3 worlds. Gunner is a tough but caring VP of a MC and he sees a girl from a far one day and feels an instant connection. We’ve met Maggie in other books, it’s great to finally get her story. The way Gunner is with her was so beautiful it sometimes brought me to happy tears. I love Jennifer’s take on the MC world. Not all bikers are horrible people and yes there are some in this book, but she concentrates on the good guys. It was great to watch Maggie grow throughout the book as well. You really were proud of her by the end. I can’t wait for more of the Sinners world!
Wow. Talk about a beautifully heartbreaking story! Maggie & Gunner were so perfect together! He was so amazing with her, and I absolutely loved watching Maggie find her inner strength! The book sucked me in from the first page and I couldn’t put it down. This was my first Jennifer Hanks book but it definitely won’t be my last!
Like I said after reading another book recently, I don’t really read that many MC romances. After reading Sweet Revenge, I think that may need to change. Jennifer Hanks has already made me fall in love with another set of characters (the Dimarco family) and with Sweet Revenge, a whole new group of characters earned a spot in my heart.
Sweet Revenge takes your heart hostage with all the feels during the first chapter and doesn’t even let go at the end of the book! This book is very intense and I couldn’t put it down. I may have been less mentally available the day after finishing this book, because I stayed up way past my bedtime.
Maggie’s life started out okay, until she lost her mother. Left to take care of herself, she ended up in a situation that was worst than she thought it would be. Snake ‘saved’ Maggie, but is not a loving man. Maggie is hurt so often, but she just can’t leave. She doesn’t know it can be different. Eventually it gets to far and she finally decides it’s time to stand up, even if it costs her everything.
I felt so much for Maggie and it broke my heart. What I loved the most about her, is that after everything she’s been through, she still has such a kind heart. Maggie wants to believe in good, even though people have proven her wrong so many times. She’s also a fighter and so much braver than I think I’d ever be in her situation. I loved watching her start to trust again and experience things that are totally normal for most people, like reading a romance book on a Kindle.
Gunner seems like a man you don’t want to run into at first and like your typical MC member. Even if it’s clear from the start the Sinners are different than most MCs I’ve read about. Gunner may seem really tough, but there’s a lot more to him than meets the eye (something I love reading about). His past is definitely still haunting him, but will he be able to get past it? The Sinners are his family, but that’s not everything he has going on.
I loved Gunner! He was so protective and caring when it came to Maggie. Even though I don’t think he ever expected to start falling in love the way he did, it happened. Also, behind the tough mask, there is a world of hurt from things that happened in the past. I think he needed Maggie to let himself confront the feelings of the past. Gunner just needed an extra push to realize he had people who really cared and trusted him. Just like Maggie, I love how he develops in this story.
Then we have to talk about Maggie and Gunner together. Even though it may have seem to gone quick, I loved how everything felt natural and built slowly. It’s clear they both feel a connection, but it’s new. Maggie seems to need more protection and support, but she does just as much for Gunner. They had me laugh and also brought tears to my eyes. They really deserve each other and happiness.
On top of that, there is definitely an aspect of suspense in this book. Twists and turns I didn’t see coming and an ending that went a lot differently than I expected, that left me wanting so much more!! The characters besides Maggie and Gunner are amazing and I need more of this MC. Becs was hilarious and I would love to read her story, haha. Then again, I’d take anyone at this point.
My absolute favorite part though, was that Jennifer connected my beloved Dimarcos into this story. Even though Sweet Revenge can be read as a standalone, you’ll appreciate them just a little bit more if you’ve read her other series! All in all, this was an amazing book and I’ll be anxiously awaiting the next book!
This was a really great read for me. Not only do you have two fantastic characters but also a really great story. Maggie O’ Brien has had a tragic life, first with the death of her mum and the circumstances that brought and then falling for a man who turned out to be cruel and abusive. To save herself, Maggie goes to the Sinner’s MC to help them and also to ask for help for herself, but she isn’t trusting and she has put up emotional barriers which make her feel isolated and alone.
Ryker ‘Gunner’ Evans fell for Maggie when he first saw her. He is brooding, sexy, strong and a fighter. Fighting his own demons, he knows that Maggie can help him get revenge on his old MC but at what cost?
This was a brilliant story from start to finish, the relationship that Maggie has not only with Gunner, but also Bear and the rest of the MC’s bikers and ladies was written so well and had a lot of depth. There was some moment in the book which were really raw emotionally, having seen what both Maggie and Gunner have endured at times was quite upsetting as you know that there are people going through similar things on a daily basis. But, both of these characters are strong and it was exceptionally nice to see Maggie get strength and confidence the more time she spent with Gunner and the MC.
This book can be read as a standalone but is also part of a series (which I am totally going to read). A must for MC fans who like gritty, honest, brutal story-telling.
ARC received for a fair and honest review.

This is the 1st in a new series from this author, and is Gunner and Maggie’s story. Gunner is a brooding and intense man who is the VP in the Sinners, and Maggie is under the clubs protection. This is a beautifully written story which is gritty, intense, thrilling, and with lies, secrets, revenge and love. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and cannot wait to read more from this talented author whose work I recommend for all lovers of a MC romance suspense story.
Sweet Revenge by Jennifer Hanks is book One in the Sinners Series. This is the story of Ryker Evans, ‘Gunner’ and Maggie O’Brien.
Gunner is the Vice President of the Sinners MC Club. The Club had taken in Maggie when she was given them information toward a rival MC which she was doing because she was being abused by her man there. Maggie had become close to the Dr. who is friends with the Sinner’s Club so she wanted to help him and the Sinner’s club when she learned what the MC gang she was doing to hurt them. Maggie was the victim of her circumstance because she had to runaway when she was young and everything has went bad from there. Gunner has been in love with Maggie for a while but didn’t act on it because he didn’t realize at first how she was being treated. But when she escaped to come to his Club he vowed to keep her safe and made a inside vow to himself to keep her.
I am such a fan of Ms. Hanks writing. I love the instant love and Alpha male characters. This was a must read for me!
