As a die-hard chocolate fan, I find the premise hilarious. I’m a fan of Morgana Best’s books, and ‘Sweet Revenge’ is a wonderful introduction to the Chocolate Shop Mysteries.
As I always do with this author’s books, I enjoyed it. I loved this first one of the series and I’m sure I’m going to love the rest. Which, I am now going to read.
Cocoa returns home following a lengthy stay in the hospital. She spent months recovering from a serious car accident. She is now thin and will remain that way and her face has had major plastic surgery. It’s high school reunion time and Narel’s friend Carl talks her into attending. The Populars are out to continue their abuse of the rest of the class but not only Narel has changed. As The Populars are killed, Narel must find the killer or be charged herself.
cozy-mystery, amateur-sleuth, chocolate, humor
Excellent murder mystery! Plot moves along very well as the bodies pile up. Good sleuthing by Narel and Carl, while it appears as if the detectives think that Narel is a likely suspect. Mystery aside, the situational and verbal humor is great! Looks like another really great series by Morgana Best!
Despite several murders and attempted murders, Sweet Revenge is a silly, amusing, entertaining mystery. Narel, the protagonist, is sweet and naive but depicting her as never eating anything except chocolate is over the top ridiculous. Having her shove large quantities of chocolates into her mouth at the same time is just gross. Her best friend Carl is a darling.
This book has great characters, although they are all adults acting like they’re still in high school. There are some errors that would have probably been taken care of by a good editor. All in all, the book was intriguing and fit the cozy mystery genre. I would read more by this author.
This book is about a woman who has an auto accident and returns to her hometown and no one recognizes her because she has lost weight and had plastic surgery. She attracts the attention of a former classmate and goes on a date. She witnesses his car blow up. She stumbles on another classmate dead in the woods while going on a walk.
Ridiculous! Don’t bother!
I won’t try to tell you this is a good story. It wasn’t for me, but then I am one individual. Read the story for yourself and make your own decision. I won’t be reading any more of the series.
This book is really bad.
It was a bit long that i lost interest
Enjoyable. Not your average cookie cutter character. Ops! I meant chocolate cutter characters. The story was good it flowed but it seemed to short. It’s a series of books I look forward to reading more of adventures from this author. Thank you for writing continue please. Lighten up on the chocolate obsession or I’ll gain 10lbs just reading.
Incorrect nutritional info, diet of 90% chocolate! Get real! The silly, highly repetive dialogue dialogue makes this book bad!
I just love reading this book, it is entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable. The interaction and chemistry between the characters in this book is wonderful. I can’t wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
H.S. bullies, class reunion, and murder. was it really a long held grudge? read to find out. A very special cat named mongrel, who is never seen leaving his basket, saves the day. I am so jealous of Naral, but, I have to admit, even I hit a chocolate overload! she gets to eat all she wants, what a fantasy!
