Rhett SullivanMysterious boy painted in shades of red.Nova MarkovEccentric girl dripping in sunshine. He was the type mothers warned their little girls about—a cocky, rich asshole with a pretty smile, unapologetically insane and wild.I was the type guys like him usually ignored—a free spirit who hid my crazy beneath an odd good girl facade and the art hanging on my studio walls. We were opposites … art hanging on my studio walls.
We were opposites in every way but one, and we collided like two runaway trains that never had a chance of stopping.
What blossomed between us, our ‘relationship,’ was maniacal. We got stuck in a cycle of madness.
Rhett Sullivan became a bittersweet poison I couldn’t get enough of.
In the end, that’s what destroyed me.
Because in the end?
Our love was nothing but a lie.

Nova is sort of an introverted hermit. She’s got a lot of dark things roiling around in her head and I can already tell she’s not necessarily everything that she appears to be. Then she meets someone who’s got just as much going on as she, and their attraction burns like wildfire.
Rhett appears mysteriously in Nova’s town and not a lot is revealed about him except that he apparently is a killer and bleeds danger. Oh and he’s obsessed with Nova and wants to figure out all her secrets, what makes her tick. Can two dark, messed up people really make a go of it when neither is exactly as they appear? Well, we don’t find out in this first part of their story because it ends on an abrupt cliffhanger. Damn cliffhanger!
I honestly was not really sure what to make of Sweet Poisons. Not because it’s dark, because I love me some dark tales (A. Zavarelli, Tillie Cole, J.M. Walker to name just a few of my favorite dark authors), but because neither Nova nor Rhett is all that likable, for want of a better word. Especially Nova. She’s not horribly evil or anything, she’s just kinda…there. Oh she’s definitely messed up, and definitely not all that she seems, but she’s also just kinda bland and off-putting and I’m not sure about her. Rhett isn’t much better, but I do think his backstory, when we get it, is going to be interesting. As will Nova’s. IF we ever get it!
I will say that I’m definitely interested in where this story is going, so I’m all in for the conclusion of this duet, Sick Remedies.

A twisted and surprising story which packed heat with suspense and a slow burn dark insanity.
An engaging and addictive story that has left me begging for more. All too quickly I reached the last few pages. Natalie Bennett never fails to draw me into a story, it may start slow but once I was hooked that was it, I was a goner and I had to keep turning those pages!
I’ve read several of Natalie Bennett’s books and they are beyond f*cked up, to the point where you either don’t know if you detest it or are weirded out by the plot or downright just dumbfounded because you either loved it or hated it.
I like this author’s twisted way of thinking. I never thought I’d be getting more and more intrigued by her style of writing. She either goes all out and the books are out of your realm or they are exactly what you’re looking for.
Nova and Rhett were so damn mysterious to me. Both have secrets that neither one wants to divulge but they are drawn to each other and can’t seem to stay away from each other.
I was drawn to Nova and Rhett’s story from page one.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this out of this world twisted and mysterious book.
I have been waiting for this story, as no other author can write a dark and twisted plot as well as this gifted author can, and it was so worth the wait!! This is the 1st book in a duet, and is Rhett and Nova’s story, who are opposites in every way. This is an amazing tale which is fast paced, and filled with action, suspense, secrets, insanity, and complex characters. I cannot wait to read the 2nd part of this fascinating duet.
This author has yet to disappoint. She has created a story with characters who have depth and are not easy to figure out, coupled with the insane ability to not dislike this character. It is crazy how much she can grip you and make you turn over after page so fast.
Her heros create quite the mind-boggle in this book.
She also created a story that takes you from beginning to end at a fast pace and the excitement surrounding the characters and this story are out of this world. To say my mind is blown is an understatement. It is a book that literally leaves you hanging on the edge of the cliff, waiting to see what will happen next.
Nova and Rhett are quite the pair. Nova lacks the confidence and Rhett makes up for it. Their story is crazy and intriguing. Paired with all the suspense, it is a story that will make you an even bigger Natalie Bennett fan.
Sweet Poisons is my first ever read from this author and certainly wouldn’t be my last.
My gawd, this book! The book and its author completely have me at their clutches. I don’t think any book has left me questioning everything: from its main characters, story itself, and yes, even my sanity. Just when I thought I had this book figured out or near solving the mystery, there will be another piece of the puzzle that I need to fit into the picture. It completely baffles me to my frustration, LOL.
Rhett, oh my lawd. This guy epitomize the mysterious, dangerous, bad boy that your mother warns you about but can’t help get to attracted to. However, Nova is one too. I guess it’s true what they say: like calls to like and these two proved it to a T.
Sweet Poisons will leave you begging for more; there were a lot of twists and turns enough to put your mind into a endless spin of mystery, lies and secrets. Can’t wait to get my hands on book two!
A great story about finding and losing love. This story catches the reader from the beginning and promises to keep you captivated.
I recommend this story!
Oh Holy Hell!!! The cover for Sweet Poisons alone was enough to make me absolutely need to read it. Oh man am I so happy Bennett didn’t disappoint with the story!!
Sweet Poisons is absolutely phenomenal and dark, so freaking dark!!Sweet Poisons goes from zero to one hundred and does not stop. This is a quick short read that left me begging for more.
Nova and Rhett have this off the charts chemistry that is amazing to read about. Rhett is terrifically alpha and a whole lot of hot. Nova is a character you can’t help but love, she’s compassionate, and sweet with just enough secrets to keep you wondering.
Sweet Poisons is brutal and raw, and I loved every second of it. The twist are amazing, and that slow burn between Nova and Rhett is off the pages hot.
And lets not forget that cliffhanger at the end. Natalie Bennett definitely knows how to hook you and keep you interested. Once I started Sweet Poisons I could not put it down, I finished in one sitting. I cannot wait for the conclusion in Sick Remedies.
Once again Natalie Bennett has totally made me wonder what the heck I just read and also made me beg for the second part.
Nova and Rhett are a couple you would not expect and that in itself makes you wonder where Natalie Bennet will be taking them.
I am so ready for the second part of this duet!!!
So I did enjoy this: I always enjoy this author’s work a lot her psychotic characters just appeal to my sense of crazy.
This was all about Rhett Sullivan and Nova Markov and as always this author managed to weave a web of mysterious messed upness where what should repel actually appeals.
I liked both main characters here though I did think I got more of a sense of self From Rhett as his black deeds were splashed vividly across the pages and Nova’s were more of the hidden persuasion: you kinda knew she was no angel but were not really sure what she had done or why this was.
This was quite short and I would have rated this higher than I did but I felt like it cut off midstream without leaving enough to really hook the reader in.
I definitely want to read the next part to see where this actually goes but I feel that this would have been better releasing in its whole entirety.
This read didn’t seem quite as black as previous ones from this author but we have yet to see what the second part involves I am expecting pure mayhem.
As usual, I really liked the writing and just the plain wrongness of it all.
If you like unapologetic baddies then this is definitely the author to go for.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Sweet Poisons (Pretty Lies, Ugly Truths Duet #1).

Need book two ASAP!! This was one heck of a ride and I am desperate to know what happens next! As always Natalie delivers a dark and twisted read. More please!
Run Rabbit Run
Holy snikeys you can’t just leave me hanging by my fingernails!
This is a quick but to the point toss you into the slaughterhouse first in duet.
We get to meet the players
We get a glimpse at the game board
We even get to watch them make a couple of moves
Just enough to get us engaged, strung out –
Then we are tossed over the cliff
Nova has lost her family but we are not given the specifics of how but we are given some clues. She seems to be a bit of an introvert and maybe once upon a time she was the “nice girl” your parents approved of. I am not sure really. It seems the loss of her parents, the uncovering of secrets and the unknown has tipped her sanity scales a touch and not in the right direction.
Rhett, I have no idea who he is. For some reason, Nova has become his obsession after watching him and his friends I am going to go with that as being a good thing. I definitely would not want to be on the negative side of his attentions.
Someone, at this point everyone is a suspect, has crossed some very dangerous people and they are coming to collect. I know Nova’s dad is somehow involved but I have no idea how or what the man did. I also know that her friend is not to be trusted, just wait for that little revelation. There are so many directions this story can take for those who survive to the next book, which by the way I need now.
I really fought with myself on rating this one
It wasn’t the story – it wasn’t the cast ~
All those things were 10 fiery stars!!
It was the editing or lack of ~ not sure what happened here
The world-building, the characters the overall tone of the story was five stars without question
The editing issues bothered me
The copy I read was via kindle unlimited
***4 Stars***
Ok. Now that is a cliffy I love to hate.
I can’t believe that’s where things ended ~ for now ~ because that’s so not cool ~ but cannot wait to get my hands on the next book to find out what the hell is really going on with Rhett and his crew and Nova, because that girl has got a lot going on in her head.
But as or Nova and Rhett. They fascinate me. Rhett is confident, charming and deadly. He is arrogant, but not in a way that is off putting, instead it makes him that much more interesting. Nova is an introvert, but a passionate one who expresses herself in creative ways as she deals with the chaos of her life.
Rhett and Nova’s journey, thus far, has been hard, quick and passionate. The chemistry between them is intense as they start to fall for each other, while not necessarily fully trusting each other…and with where things were left at the end of the book, it’ll be really interesting to see just how they come to an accord.
Sweet Poisons is definitely a Natalie Bennett book with all the hallmarks that I’ve come to enjoy: Gritty, edgy and dark ~ though at this point the dark isn’t as deviant or debauced as some of her previous works, but that could change in the next book ~ and has me wondering just what the hell is going on with these enigmatic characters. And speaking of…as far as the secondary characters are concerned I Emery and Callum are my favorites, but I’m looking forward to getting to know Tripp and Evie better as well…so, it’s all about practicing patience until Sick Remedies appears on the Kindle!

Wow! This is a quick, but very intense read which throws up so many questions and has some heart stopping moments. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and trying to work out just what the secrets are that Nova is hiding! Rhett (great name) is one tough cookie and I am absolutely sure that we are in for one hell of a ride in Sick Remedies, as that is one hell of a good cliff hanger!!
This was a dark, mysterious romance. It felt like most of the book was building up to something, and you had some hints, but you weren’t really sure what it was… then suddenly the last part of the book took off, full steam ahead. And then stopped! I need book two! Now!
Wow! Damn she does it again, Natalie Bennett has an amazing way to deliver the most messed up stories, we all can’t get enough of. This book sucked me right in, just like every one of her books. Once I started no way I could put it down… and then the cliffy at the end which was expected but still I’m craving more. These two Rhett and Nova, both have so many secrets I can not wait to find them out. My mind is all over the place trying to figure them out
Sweet Poisons by Natalie Bennett, the first of the duet, is a really cool and dark read.
The book was building up Nova’s and Rhett’s relationship, and the mystery of what their darkest secrets could be. We learn a little more of what Rhett is, but it’s not given away completely.
There’s a darkness inside both of them, however, their skeletons aren’t revealed in this book. However, the darkness builds up more and more throughout.
It’s also rather raunchy. The steamy scenes are hot, but Rhett is hot, so…
Sweet Poisons is a quick dark read that leaves you with so many questions, which will hopefully be answered in the next book, and hoping the next book will be released soon. I have a feeling the next book is going to be explosive. Thoroughly enjoyed.
The first book in a new Duet by Natalie Bennett. If I have to describe this book in one words, then that word would be `Secrets`.
It seems that every characters in this book has a secrets and the biggest of them belong to our main characters. And just like with all of nathalie book it is filled with beautiful poetic words, some violence and a steamy scene and humor.
I can´t wait for the conclusion of this story.
Sweet Poison (Pretty Lies, Ugly Truths Duet #1) by Natalie Bennett is the story of Nova. She is a young lady whose parents have recently died and she is trying to adjust to what has happened. In the town she lives in she is known as a quiet sweet girl but she has secrets. When her and girl friends run into the new guys in town her interest is peaked. Rhett is a bad boy through and through. He has his eyes on Nova and he has more than sex on his mind. In true Natalie Bennett form we get two damaged and deranged individuals who cross paths. I can wait till the next book. I was definitely left with many questions and can’t wait to get them answered. The story kept me intrigued and it was ending before I knew it. It also doesn’t hurt that the relationship between Nova and Rhett was hot and sexy. Come on book 2!!!!! 5 stars for me. I always love a story that ends with wanting more.
Sweet Poisons by Natalie Bennett was one of my most anticipated reads of 2019! If you follow me then you already know Natalie Bennett (A.K.A the Queen of Darkness) is one of my all-time favorite authors! Dark reads are my jam, I’d take dark love/romance over a rom-com ANY DAY and NO ONE does dark like Natalie Bennett! So of course when I heard she was trying her hand in dark YA/NA, I was ALL over it! If you are planning on starting this one make sure you have nothing on your schedule because trust me, you will NOT be able to put it down!
Nova has been living a quite isolated life in Legacy Falls after her parent’s death. That is until a new guy covered in tattoos shows up and turns her quite little whole world upside down.
“Rhett Fucking Sullivan. He came into my life like a wrecking ball, demolishing every defense I had.”
Nova Markov, she’s quiet, a borderline alcoholic that’s just numbing what I assume is the pain of losing her parents and the mystery that surrounds their death, but just like with Rhett, there’s more to the quiet and shy persona Nora presents to her friends and everyone else in their small college town. There is something much darker lurking right underneath the surface and when the TRUE Nora finally comes out to play, I have a feeling we are all in for a shocker!
“She’s not something that can be explained. Beautifully twisted, practically insane. She only lets her demons out when she thinks no one is watching.”
Rhett Sullivan, this sexy bad boy is an enigma, mystery surrounds him. He’s the perfect hero/anti-hero (I haven’t decided which category he falls under just yet, read the book and you’ll understand) he’s charming and he will sweep you off your feet… but the whole time he’s doing the sweeping, he’s also up to no good and keeping a whole lot of secrets. Rhett holds his cards close to his chest but those secrets are right on the surface, just about to boil over. We still don’t know WHY exactly he and his friends showed up in Legacy Falls, but just friends partying for the summer doesn’t ring true after getting to know these killer, bad boys.
These two together are like fire and gasoline! Nova has her own secrets and the only person who’s ever even come close to seeing the “real” her, is Rhett. The chemistry between them has been sizzling since the moment they laid eyes on each other, well the moment Nova laid eyes on Rhett I should say…
The sexy scenes, I mean have you read a Natalie B. book before? If not then let me just tell you, she never disappoints in this category!
“Alcohol could be bad for you, but Rhett Sullivan was a different type of poison. And I’d already over-indulged.”
That ending, SHEESH! I have literally NO IDEA what is going to happen next but after that cliffhanger, I surely can not wait to find out! Knowing Natalie, I’m sure whatever it is, it’s going to be one heck of a twist, and it’s gonna be bloody!
How can I NOT mention this cover, I mean HOLY CRAP! Facebook tried to BAN it! Doesn’t get much hotter than that ya’ll!
It’s suspenseful, steamy AF, has a sexy badass alpha hero/anti-hero, jam-packed full of suspense, secrets, and instalove/instalust, oh and did I mention suspense?! Trust me, you do NOT want to miss this one! I highly recommend checking out Sweet Poisons!
So now, I’m ready to hold my breath and kick and scream until Natalie gives me Sweet Remedies!
I NEED IT NOW!
P.S- Thank fuck that this is a duet, I don’t think my heart could handle a trilogy!
“No one’s ever who they say they are. We’re all liars in some way or another, covering our ugly truths with pretty lies.”
