Fans of Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series will be drawn to Wendy Higgins’s sexy, thrilling Sweet Evil series.Sweet Peril focuses on the battle between light and dark, good and evil, within Anna Whitt, the child of a guardian angel mother and a demon father. Anna promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a claim. Haunted by … claim. Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. And all the while there’s gorgeous bad-boy Kaidan Rowe, the son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.
Anna discovers it is her fate to banish demons from the earth, and save the other Nephilim from their dark destiny. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

Perfect for readers of paranormal romance.
The Sweet series continues to be very intriguing and attention grabbing.
Sweet Peril takes places few months after the events in the first book. Anna has not seen or been in touch with Kaidan in couple of months and since the summit has been forced to “work”. All Nephilims are under constant watch to make sure they are influencing as many humans as possible. It truly is a miserable existence and makes you hate the Dukes even more for treating Nephilims like puppets.
It does not take long, however, before Anna is set to go on adventure around to world to recruit as many Nephilims as possible who are willing to fight against the demons and especially the Dukes. Kopano, one of fellow Nephilims and one of Anna’s good friends, has been assigned to travel with her. I was really big fan of the plot where Nephilims are secretly putting together an army without making the Dukes suspicious. With every new destination they travel to, I got anxious and worried that their plan will blow up in their faces. While I liked the idea, I did not like that it was Kopano that joined her on this adventure. As I mentioned in my review on Sweet Evil, a love triangle was hinted at and I thought that Kopano joining Anna is a recipe for disaster. While I have nothing against Kopano, and I think he a cool guy, I do not like third party meddling between the two main characters.
I still like Kaidan but for the majority of the book I wished for him to finally pull the stick out of his ass. I mean, there is only so many times you can reject a girl before she starts to move on. He kept on being hot and cold with Anna, telling Kopano to make a move on Anna but then acting jealous when Kopano made a move. He gave her a whole lot of mixed signals, so really he should have cut her some slack. That being said, I am so glad that he managed to control himself and somewhat stopped fooling around with other girls. It was about time! And I was so so so happy when Kaidan and Anna finally got together! Finally they stopped dancing around each other and finally took what they both wanted for so long. It only took two years, but better late than never!
Too bad that Veronica and Jay, Anna’s human friends, did not make much of an appearance in this one. I am glad though that they managed to work through their differences. They sound like they make a good couple. But I cannot help but feel like Marna is a better fit for Jay. Just my personal opinion.
Sweet Peril is full of twists and turns and it held a firm grip from the beginning until the very last page. There were few things I did not expect to happen which have broke my heart. I really despise the Dukes and hope that they will get what is coming for them. Cannot wait to see how the last book will unfold!
