EXCERPT
We are already half way through the filming, and as it is past noon, I decide to go back to my office and have a sandwich for lunch. I come across Jake, who’s in all likelihood leaving to see Tereza.
“How’s it going?” he asks.
“Good. She’s professional, as I expected. I don’t think you can blame me anymore. Apparently, she managed to charm you as much as the others.”
What am I saying? Why don’t I shut up?
“How about telling me how you really feel?” he provokes me with a piercing gaze that makes me move uncomfortably.
Heck, after all, I don’t need to be in his good graces.
“I was just saying you always seem to behave the same way with women. You complained I’d arranged a lunch with your ex, but you came back from the meeting with a smile. You also complained this morning about Tereza, and yet you are about to have lunch with her. And I don’t even talk about this completely inappropriate kiss.”
“Jealous?” he says, taking a step toward me, which makes me recoil.
“Absolutely not. I’ve no reason to be jealous. What an absurd idea. I’m just saying things like I see …”
“Because I’m also against relationships in the office,” he interrupts me and his breath caresses my neck. “That doesn’t stop me from doing this.”
He touches my lips, and his touch is so different from what I’ve imagined, so tender, that for a moment, I surrender. Fortunately, good sense prevails, and I push him away, furious.
“What was that?”
“In my opinion, a good start to what I plan to be a unique adventure. Note, I probably should fire you, this way I wouldn’t have to break my rules.”
He gently strokes my face with his thumb and disappears before I actually have time to replicate.

I love this series.
Another light hearted, funny, romantic read with quirky characters and lots of banter and Spark. Allison is a pastry chef which almost has her career ruined because Jake, a critic, called her Apple pie “tastless”. She goes to confront him and gets mistaken as a temp. It was great to follow her through her deception. revenge, confusion which could damage her future happiness and love. Truly enjoying this series of standalones. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
I love all of Mary’s books the way she developed her characters. I feel as if I am one of the actual characters in the books she is writing. I can feel the love between them.
Mary as long as you keep writing, you’ll have this reader.
This 3rd book of the Happy series is my favorite so far. This character and her task to confront the man who influenced her decision to stop cooking is a good intentions that travel way off task. Allison involves such mechanics that she begins to sink in her own sand. Deeper in fibs and risks of it all coming to even more humiliation. Zoe, Amy and the man’s sister, Emily support her, egg her on, and laugh at what she reports. Allison’s mouth has a mind of it’s own under circumstances and stuns even her with what comes out. Is she avoiding her confrontation, sidetracked by her new job, or wanting revenge rather than just to express her feelings from long ago? I was very “Happy” with the ending. Well written, ease of reading, great story and story line.
Another great story in the My Day series from the author Mary Kelly Reed. Her books never fail to amaze me. Each story is unique in itself even though it has the same basic theme. Each main character wants to go back to something that has been done wrong and face it and correct it. The way it is written you are drawn in from the first page. It is funny, light hearted and romantic. I like the banter, spark and quirky characters. It is about women who have real issues and are relatable. The story line is well written and interesting.
Allison goes to face a critic who gave her pie a bad review and nearly ruined her career. When she does there are a few misunderstandings and the fun starts. This is a light hearted and fun book to read. It has a lot of humor and great characters that you will fall in love with. I highly recommend.
Another gutsy heroine decides to confront someone in her past whose negativity caused her to doubt herself. This is book 3 of the My Day series. Not only can it be read as a stand alone, each story is completely different from the others. Mary Kelly Reed writes charming, totally believable heroines. The plots keep you reading because the well written story has lots of hear, is funny, and has a happy ending. I really wished I could order a couple of Allison’s desserts because they sounded really yummy! I really enjoyed all three books and heartily recommend all of them.
