Sweet Little Lies is the third book in the Angel Sands series, set in a small beach town on the California coast. If you like a heartwarming second chance romance that’s low on angst and big on feels, this is the story for you!
more
“It had been ten long years between their first kiss and this last one. Those years of heartbreak had finally led to this moment of pure joy. And as he held her tightly and kissed her until she was breathless, Brooke knew the wait had been worth every minute.”
What happens between that first kiss and the last kiss? We so love a GOOD second chance story… in real life and in books. This book delivers. Brooke and Aiden are too young to defy the odds. Boy from the wrong side of the tracks alongside the ever popular rich girl trying to keep her love a secret from daddy. But they get caught and the consequences flow. There are lies, there’s duplicity, there’s disappearance. This is where the real story begins…. those ten missing years. What happens? How do the roles reverse? How does Aiden become the rich boy while Brooke struggles to provide a living for her son? Oh yes, she also had a baby during those 10 years. How does that impact and affect Aiden? And just who is the baby daddy? What happens when secrets are exposed?
Yes, in all second chance stories, there’s usually a HEA. But the real story lies between the dash…. the events that happen in between that ten year timeline… the first kiss and the last kiss. It’s always about the dash.
OBSERVATIONS
… Wanted to know more about Brooke’s parents and how they handle the truth about Brooke’s baby daddy? Does this injure their relationship with their grandson?
… Wanted to know WHY baby daddy dropped his ‘agenda’ and left? It is said, he left on his own accord. No one interfered causing his to leave. What happened to change his mind?
… Would have loved to read more of their happy ever after.

Another great read from Carrie Elks. If you want a book to get lost in then you can’t go wrong with this author.i didn’t want to put it down once I’d started it and I’d finished it before I knew it. You reconnect with the characters from the previous books but can easily be read as a standalone . Really addictive series and just gets better
Can someone give me directions to Angel Sands? I want to move there and hang out with my friends Ember, Ally, and Brooke. But seriously, this is an awesome series and Brooke and Aiden’s story is beautifully written, heartfelt, and wonderful. I loved it.

I purchased a copy of the novel Sweet Little Lies: A Small Town Second Chance Love Story With A Twist (Angel Sands Book 3) by Carrie Elks and this review was given freely.
A little twisted with a heartwarming ending. Separated by Brooke’s society conscious manipulative parents because of Aiden’s poor background and criminal brother, single Mom, animal shelter volunteer, and vet tech student Brooke Newton reunites nine years later with the man she always loved, her son Nick’s uncle Aiden Black.
He had been a bad boy so he left and now he is on his way back but this time he is doing something better. She never expected to see him again but there he is in the flesh in front of her. The flame is still there but she is hiding a bit secret, their son. Will he find out? Will they try again? Will others allow them to be together? See if they will

Aiden is a kid from “the wrong side of the tracks”.
Brooke is a girl from a well to do high class family.
It had been 10 years since they have seen each other. The last time they saw each other, they had been caught together by Brooke’s father. Brooke’s father then had Aiden and his family sent away.
Brooke is now a single mother with a BIG secret. Aiden is a big shot director of a luxury resort. Aiden is back in town to oversee construction of a new resort in Angel Sands. Since it is a small town, they keep running into each other and with no other choice, begin to interact with each other. She has a big secret that she has never told anyone but her 2 best friends.
After learning the full truth from Aiden about why he left, Brooke confronts her parents and her life then implodes. Things only get worse when her secret is told to her parents and basically the entire town!
Will Aiden & Brooke be able to put the pieces back together and move on with their life?
Ten years ago they were in love.
Aiden left without a word leaving Brooke heartbroken, but he thought it was a best decision. It broke his heart to do this.
When he sees Brooke again he is surprised to see her with a little boy.
Secrets and lies, and is a lot of them but this is a book about second chances .
It was quite an enjoyable read.

3.5 stars.
A nice read.
We have Brooke and Aiden, they were in love a decade ago, and from happenings out of their control, they were forced to break apart. Years later, they reunite and see if there is some spak there.
I liked both these characters, they were both hurting in a different way, with Aiden with his past and how people demeaned him and his family; and Brooke, with trying to break free with some PRETTY controlling parents.
The spark was still there, although there were so many secrets, it was hard for them to actually move on. 🙁 Still, I was glad they found their own HEA, although I was pretty bummed her parents sort of got away with their crappiness. :-/
*Thank you to the author for providing a copy for which I’m giving my honest opinion*
I recommend this book. I enjoyed reading Brooke’s and Aiden’s story. The book flowed well, it grabbed me from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down.I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my voluntary review.
I loved Sweet Little Lies. It’s a well written story. Brooke and Aiden are both great multidimensional characters. It was very easy for me to connect with them. There were a couple of twists in the book that were not what I expected and me think “oh wow.” Their story grabbed me and kept me captivated until the very end. Can’t wait for the next book.
Book three in the Angel Sands series it is the first book I have read in the series but I want to read the other two. This is a second chance story for Aiden Black and single mom Brooke Newton after ten years. Nick her son was a little with a mind of his own. I enjoyed reading this book. What a wonderful second chance romance. I’ve loved getting to know the residents of Angel Sands, especially the three female friends. In this book we get to read Brooke’s story – her past history with Aiden, how Brooke became pregnant, and the challenges she has faced raising her son on her own. It would seem that someone comes from a family with money would have no worries but that certainly isn’t the case for Brooke. And when Aiden returns to town, Brooke has some big decisions to make.
There were certainly some surprises in this story – it didn’t exactly the way I was anticipating (love that in a story!). As with the other stories, the author makes you feel as if you are right there in Angel Sands and are personal friends with the characters. You are taken through a roller coaster of emotions as the story unfolds. This is definitely a book worth reading.
This was a quick read that was tender sweet with delicate hits of delectable steamy bits, sigh, it was a welcome treat between the taut thrillers and murder mysteries I’ve been dabbling in of late. I have feasted on each of the three books in this delightful and entertaining series and have my fingers crossed that Ms. Elks will continue the series by writing books for each unique small-town citizen residing in this out of the way beach town. The storylines are engaging and easy to follow while the characters are admirable and worth knowing, highly likable, and hardworking. I want to join them for their next gathering of wine, whine, and gossip.
Brooke’s a single mom, and Nick is a great kid. They live in the pool house behind her parents’ mansion, and in many ways, her wealthy parents still have her under their thumbs while she finishes college. She’s behind in achieving that dream because of the time she’s spent raising Nick, but she wouldn’t trade her son for anything. Aiden was the guy from the wrong side of town. He and his mom and brother left Angel Sands years ago, having been threatened with prosecution for something they didn’t do. He comes back to scatter her ashes in the place she loved so much. And also to renovate an old dilapidated resort. He and Brooke have a past, one that neither of them has ever gotten over. She has a secret – a big one. And it’s not what you’re expecting. I absolutely loved this story – watching Brooke and Nick and ??? (sorry – no spoiler from me!) become a family as she grows to overcome the cloud of control that her parents have held for her entire life. She is so blessed to have such great friends who have helped her and Nick out over the years, and who have been rooting for her to find her happy forever. This is my first book from this author, but it certainly won’t be the last.

The storyline was well written and the characters were so well developed that I remained totally engaged throughout the entire book! I look forward to reading more from this author!
Love the characters and the beach setting. Can’t get enough of this series. Highly recommend!
I really loved this book. It is the first book I have read by Carrie Elks but the third book in the series of Angel Sands. This book is so beautifully written that you fall for every characters even those how carried the biggest lies and made the biggest mistakes.
I think that Brooke has the biggest heart and that she is able to forgive her parents especially her father for what they did is so huge. She is such a strong character and even though she has low self esteem she still sticks to what she wants her life to look like and takes control of it.
Her parents has controlled her life and made decisions for her until Aiden returns to Angel Sands. Aiden was the boy from the wrong side of the track and his mother was Brooke’s parents housekeeper and her second “mother”. Brooke and Aiden fell in love the year she was 16 and he was about 19-20. But one day Aiden, his mother and his brother Jamie disappear and it is 10 years later that Aiden returns as a rich man and heads a project for a hotel in town. They meet again and their relationship starts out as enemies, then friends and then lovers. But there is so many lies and untold truths and a bigot of a father that keeps them for fully being together. All the “sweet little lies” has to be worked through for them to have their HEA but will it ever happen?
This book helped me through a reading slump and it grabbed me from the first page and I just wanted to know everything that happened to Brooke, Aiden and Brooke’s son Nick(the cutest, happiest must trustworthy eight-year old boy ever).
The series about Angel Sands and the friend group of Ember, Ally and Brooke, their men, friends and families are definitely worth picking up. I am now reading book 2 about Ally and Nate right now and loving it. And that is also why I can say that you can read them as stand-alones, nothing is spoiled about the other couples other than that they have HEA.
I can definitely recommend this book.
