Brooke and Aiden were in love 10 years ago that is until Aiden left without a word leaving Brooke heartbroken. What Brooke didn’t know is that Aiden was heartbroken too. Aiden is back in town 10 years later and when he sees Brooke again he is surprised to see her with a little boy. Soon what starts out as a friendship becomes more but nothing is easy for these two when it comes to their relationship. Secrets and lies are abundant in this book and some of them were harder to swallow than others. This is a book of second chances and self discovery and it was quite an enjoyable read.

Carrie Elks takes us back to Angel Sands for the second chance romance between single mom Brooke Newton and “brought up on the other side of the tracks” turned success story, Aiden Black. I’ve loved getting to know this little group of woman and Brook is the last of the Angel Sands trio to get her story. She has a surprisingly edgier story with an interesting twist surrounding her son Nick. Seems that little miss socialite has her limits and like any good momma bear when push comes to shove, she’s ready to stand on her own two feet.
Carrie Elks writing is always stellar. Her characters are so well developed and the characters arcs are always strong and cohesive. With Brooke, we’ve seen glimpses of her trying to take back her life. Born out of love, her parents provide her housing and childcare, but always seem to be strings attached, expectations. With the re-entrance of Aiden back into her life, she seems emboldened to break away from her all too controlling socialite parents.
Aidens’s return to Angela Sands is a way of showing anyone who might care that he is a changed man. He was young and driven when he left, but he’s still weighed down by his families history in the town. He, Brooke and her son Nick have great natural energy and connection to each other, but Brooke has a pretty massive secret that will shake up everything in her life. I loved how this played out as this secret is a doozy. Aiden is very protective of both of them and will be tested by his desire to shield them. There is no way but up for this family.
If you are looking for a series to binge read while enjoying the beach or your final summer vacation, Angel Sands series is the answer. there’s just the right amount of angst, redemption, and romance. 5 Star book and series recommendation.
Having read quite a few books by this author, I have now come to expect a certain standard and style of writing from Carrie Elks, she writes such amazing stories that toy with your emotions and gives you such a deeply loving romance story between her characters that will warm your heart. Sweet Little Lies absolutely blew all of my normal expectations out of the water.
This book was so full of secrets and surprises that it left me aghast, as a second chance romance Aiden and Brooke are two wonderful characters who are socially poles apart that after ten years find each other again for their situations to have somewhat changed. Once they both realise what went wrong for them all those years ago all the heartache and emotions they go through all becomes clear.
Just when I thought I knew how the story would playout for Aiden and Brooke, there was a plot twist, then another turn, until they reached a totally unexpected turning point in the direction of how their path to their HEA was leading them.
This story absolutely got to me and had me in tears, I found that I couldn’t not feel all the hurt and emotions that Brooke goes through to get her man and protect all that she loved. Such excellent storytelling that sucked me in right for the start. Sweet Little Lies is now my favorite book in the Angel Sands series.
So I’m not gunna lie, I was a bit skeptical with this one, as it’s a mix of my 2 least favourite tropes, but I ended up really enjoying it. There is some drama and bad blood, a little angst and some fantastic characters. I’m really enjoying all the books I read by this author.
4,5*
The story line is very well written and grabs your attention from the beginning to the end.
Although is book 3 in the series, we can read it as a stand alone book.
This is a second chance tale told by two former lovers reunited 10 years later.
A lot went through those 10 years and not everyone is happy.
Interesting plot and twist, although I would love to know more.
But that’s the chemistry and mystery about Angel Sands.
There were other great characters whose stories were from the other two books in the Angel Sands series. It was lovely to come back to the beach and catch up with them.
We read about love but specially about friendships that I do appreciate and enjoy about Angel Sands life.
I recommend all 3 books in the series.
I will miss them.
4.5 stars
I really enjoy this Angels Sands series. Each romance novel is a standalone about a different couple, but they are all interconnected because they feature the residents of a small coastal California beach town where “everybody knows your name.”
This time single mother Brooke, working hard to raise and support her eight-year old son Nick while studying AND deeply involved in animal welfare volunteerism (whew, where DOES she find the time!?) is surprised by the return of her high school crush who left Angel Sands with his hard working single mom in the midst of their teen romance. His bad boy brother Jamie is a fly in the ointment threat to their reunion. The family dynamics made this a very good read. Expect some steam, but it does not by any means drive the plot.
Plenty of good friends, tense family discussions, cute times with a well-written boy and romance, with a bit of urgent drama and a joyful conclusion: this story is a good one, something I expect from romance author Carrie Elks.

Brooke finally gets her chance with this really good second chance story. It is time for Brooke to learn truths that have been hidden from her and learn to stand up for who she is.
This is the third book in the Angel Sand series but it can be read as a standalone. It was a sweet and easy to read love story. It was wonderful written and a great storyline. It kept my interest throughout the story. It was a page turner. I truly enjoyed these two characters. I look forward to more stories by this author.

Some books you need more than 5 stars and this is one of those books. I loved everything about this story, the characters are strong and well developed. The story line is wonderfully written and grabs you in from the beginning to the end. This is book 3 in a series but can be read as a stand alone book. I don’t want to leave any spoilers so I’m not going to say anything about the story except it’s a book you don’t want to pass up. With that being said, grab your copy today, find your favorite reading spot, curl up and get lost in the story.

This is a second chance tale of sorts with 2 formers lovers reuniting 10yrs later. There is a lot of bad history to do with both their families one being that of a class distinction & still holds true when they meet again. There is also a twist in relation to Brooke’s son, Nick, one I won’t divulge.
When Aiden returns to his hometown for work, a senior job he worked hard for, it dredges up old memories. Brooke hasn’t let her parents wealth influence her or her attitude to life as a single parent. The attraction is still there but of course things do not always go smoothly to get a HEA.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.
Sometimes you start a book, thinking that you know what the story will be about. But then the story surprises you in such a way, that it leaves you unbalanced and curious for the rest of the story. And that’s what ‘Sweet little lies’ did to me and as a reader I couldn’t have been more happy about it!
I don’t want to give away too much of the story, but I can tell you that it’s indeed a second chance story. I love those. I liked how the story was told, how slowly you get little bits of Brooke and Aiden’s past. So you can understand why they broke up and what happened afterwards. The story was writing fluently, very easy to read but it also had his emotional moments. It’s told from both POV’s.
I liked both main characters very much. Brooke is strong in her own, gentle way and Aiden… well, Aiden is a bit more intense but also strong and protective of the people that he loves. They are both very caring people with a lot of love to give.
If you have read the other two previous books of this series, you will recognize characters of those stories. One of the things that I loved about the ’Angel Sands’ series is that the stories aren’t only romances stories but that an another great part of them, also goes about friendship. Especially the friendship between the three women Brooke, Ember and Ally. And it was wonderful to see how they supported each other throughout the series.
‘Sweet little lies’ is a perfect summer read and you don’t have to read the previous books to read this one.
This is such a lovely story, it is really sweet and so easy to read. Carrie Elks always writes a good romantic story, with great characters and wonderful storylines and this one is no exception. I really didn’t want to put it down.
I loved Brooke and Aiden, they are such nice people and so good together. I enjoyed getting to know them and learning about their back story and seeing where life would take them now. Brooke is a fantastic single Mum; who is juggling life, studying for her degree, volunteering at the animal centre, all while looking after her nine year old son. She is doing a brilliant job, then her old love Aiden comes back and the past catches up with them both.
Aiden is a kind, good man with a difficult childhood which he has worked to move on from. He is wonderful, so kind, so instinctive and thoughtful. I loved the way he got over his initial shock at Brookes news. I had a little crush on him, I must confess.
Of course, there are lots of other great characters whose stories were in the first two books in the Angel Sands series and it was great to catch up with their lives too. I do enjoy a book where you can read about others who you met before and loved, moving on with their lives.
If you want a perfect beach read or just something to curl up with and thoroughly enjoy reading, then this is the book for you. A fabulous read.
